>>

Regeneration won't save you from a big damage spike.
>>
>>49334330
So is regeneration ever worth taking, considering you have to give up most augs unless they're deltaware and I don't think you can use geneware either?
>>
>>49334339

It can still save you from overflow, both physical and stun, so there is that.

Another thing to consider is that you can't regenerate attacks from magic? Might want to double check that.
>>
>>49334381
That's true, you can't regenerate from damage caused by weapon foci, combat spells, adept powers, critter stuff, etc.
>>
>>49334178

Of course we do. The entire point of monthly payments is to schedule shit. You know how much work you have to do, and how long you have to do it, before the landlady comes and breaks your kneecaps for being late.

If you pay every session/run, there's no pressure to take that shitty job so you have cash in hand in three days, and no relief when you work 3 jobs back to back and you build up a financial buffer to keep you safe for a while as you pay for some sweet mods for the Northstar.

This post just made me wonder why a non-vampire might want someone's blood, and it gave me an idea.

Plausible deniability.

Donate a bunch of blood to a blood bank. Then, very publicly, steal tons of blood from the bank while masked or otherwise disguised.

Fill up the packs on one of those fake blood spray rigs with stolen blood.

And then leave a vast enough trail of random assholes' blood through every shootout that the cops start filtering out results from anyone whose blood was at that blood bank at the time of the robbery.

Congrats! Now even when your real blood is found at the scene of a crime, they'll think it's just some random asshole's left by your crew.

>>49336624
Only if you have corp backing and are mounting it on a drone.
>>
>>49336624
>are lasers worth it at all?
Only the biggest one.

Lasers have their damage drop off with every range increment, so you want as long of a range as you can get, and anything but the biggest one just doesn't have even close to enough range.

Then you mount that motherfucker on a drone so you don't have to worry about powering it.

Any other laser is a novelty at best, because they don't do enough damage per shot to be an effective weapon for stealthily neutralizing targets.

I'm just about to start an LA game, with an ex Lone Star detective turned private eye (and burned his SIN), and a Justin Bieber type (Horizon corp SIN, day job maxed and global fame[only 25 from the qualities]) who's booked a role as a detective and is studying so as to be more method under the other PC while secretly looking for his brother who went Departed style undercover years ago, and his handler got killed in another random run.

They're the only two regular PCs, the third has irregular work hours, so they'll show up intermittently.

I'd love some ideas for runs or flavor to use in this, but I mostly want to brag at this point. I finally get to run a goddamn game!
>>
>>49337032
Orcs mature early, reaching adulthood around...13 I think? They die earlier on average as well, around 50, but that's skewed because they also tend to work the more dangerous jobs.
>>
>>49337066
Ork - 35-45 years
Troll - 45-55 years
>>
>>49337032
A good rule of thumb is that orks are at least 50% older physically than their chronological age.

So at 10 they're physically ~15, at 20 they're physically 30+, and at 40 they're physically 60+. Most orks die before they're 50.

>Oni share the same lifespan due to the fact they're just a variant as well dont they?
All ork metavariants share the normal ork aging pattern unless mentioned otherwise.
>>
>>49337066
>>49337124

So Orks could theoretically start running around 15 years old huh?
>>
>>49337158
Way earlier than that, even, especially if they're put into a situation where their many siblings require some kind of financial support.

A 12-year-old ork is physically ~18, after all. You might see an ork who first starts running at 10-11, even, especially if they start with amateur hour stuff for gangs and such.
>>

Don't Trolls have a more human lifespan than Ork?

Hey Yekka, could you implement an Option to choose Cyberlimbs as an Option to calculate the Dicepools shown for Weapons (and maybe even other skills)?

Addendum2:

To be more precise:

Physical Limit is calculated (STR*2 + BOD + REA)/3
At the Moment, Chummer is using only the Body stats for this.
It would be cool if there was an option to instead have it use the (averaged) STR of the Cyberlimbs (as per the optional new Krautrule) if a player has 4 of them.

>>
Yeeka, Mutaqua have some sort of a bug calculating their augmented attributes.

Make a base Troll.

Give it Mutaqua.

Add points to Str. When it hits 10 Str, the bonus just disappears.
>>
>>49338875
Cybertorsos (at least in the Krautrules, not sure about the original ones, but stuff like this is usually communicated with CGL) are explicitely stated to not having any stats of their own since they are only hulls.
And I'm really glad for this, because stat-wise, Cybertorsos are utter garbage.
You can put everything you want to use their capacity for directly into the body of the user and still pay less essence.
Utter garbage.
>>
>>49338879
It also glitches if you make your Str 10 beforehand. 9 it's fine, 10 it bugged out and the bonus disappears.

Also the initiative die bonus is still not there on Mutaqua.
>>
Do you guys rigidly impose (or have GMs who rigidly impose) the availability rules? If not, how do you houserule them? If so, what do you do about the excessively long time periods wasted while your gear appears (or doesn't)?

Also, why are most contacts, even fixers, worse at finding gear than a half-decent face?
>>
>>49338901
>Cybertorsos are explicitely stated to not having any stats of their own since they are only hulls.
A) English has the description, but not explicit mention of having no stats

B) precisely why they should be fixed and made relevant
>>
>>49339093
Because they get a big limit bonus they (probably) don't need and the core ones are kinda strangely statted out by the quick creation rules for contacts.

Said fixer has stats for (by the quick creation) connection 5/6, roughly the right number of points but wrongly distributed (lots depends on what the Data Search is supposed to actually be/represent) and of course has no gear. By the quick creation stuff there's over 200k that should be available to the fixer for stuff, including 'ware or foci, so that should make a good difference.
>>
>>49337066
>>49337124

In our Earthdawn game, the orc pcs are around 11-13 years old. 40 is average life expactancy, one crazy weird necromancer is 70 and considered fucking weird and unnatural.
>>
>>49339108
They are already "fixed" in that a character doesn't have to use them, thus making Characters with Cyberlimbs viable (the additional essence loss from the torso is ridiculous and makes them unable to mount decent INI enhancers).
The english version will be updated to the german Version.
The Errata Hotfix Group is in contact with Blackbooks (french) and Pegasus (german) to incorporate the existing non-english erratas in the english ones.
Yekka, another Problem with Chummer:
The tooltip in the Skill Department is using the stats of the Cyberarms for Running (even applying the off-hand Modificator). It obviously should use the stats of the (Cyber-) legs.
Same thing with swimming, though arguably this should use the averaged bodystats.
>>
>>49337681
Maybe it's just further proof that most matter swells in contact with water, even dogs.
>>
>>49339380
>They are already "fixed" in that a character doesn't have to use them
No, that's just removing any need or genuine use for cyber torsos, which is shit and should never be accepted without eliminating them entirely.

As eliminating CTs is not an option, they should have a reasonable use and purpose.

If you have a contract, they'll go pick you up anywhere in their service area.

Of course, they have no problem administering emergency care on the scene before handing you over to Knight Errant, or (if you need to go to the hospital) making sure you're cuffed to your bed with a uniform waiting in the corner of the room.

To add onto this, law enforcement isn't dumb enough to get in a firefight with DocWagon. They'll just shoot a message to dispatch that a DocWagon team has come for a criminal they were in the process of apprehending, and dispatch will pass on the message to DocWagon that KE has dibs. The guys in the Wagon have no reason to risk their lives or careers for some drekhead criminal. They'll pump you full of narcotics, patch up your biggest holes, and surrender you.

Possible changes for Cybertorso rules that wouldn't lead to a huge rewrite:

a) Give them the possibility to have custom Strength/Agility
Their Availability would have to be reduced drastically for this, because atm its to high to custom tailor it.

b) Reduce their Essencecost by a HUGE margin

c) increase their capacity

d) decrease their costs by a huge margin

b + c are sort-off mutually exclusive.
a) is nice but without b) they would still be prohibitely expensive (essence wise) for a starting character who can't afford Betaware and even Alphaware is pushing it since using normal Grade should always be possible by pure numbers.

Essentially, a Character with 4 Cyberlimbs and a Cyberbody would have to be able to at least fit 1 Point of Additonal Ware into them without bordering Cyberzombie-Territory (read: <1.0 Essence) to make them viable enough that anybody would play them.

So, for this to work out, they (the rules guys) would have to decrease the Essence Costs by about 2/3, decrease its availabilitynumber and give them its own STR/AGI attributes.

Anything less and Cyberlimbers become unusable and i don't see those changes happening.

Just pushed to master now; new Nightly should auto-publish in five to ten minutes, depending on how busy the build server is.
- Removed some code from the SelectAttributes improvement that caused it to pass the selected value up to the bonus source. Generally speaking, prevents Infected qualities from getting (BOD) or whatever added to their treenode.
- Added a new Improvement Type: MovementMultiplier. This is used to increase or decrease the multiplier for Running and Sprinting from x2/x4.
- Fixed a UI issue that prevented attribute bonuses from showing properly if the value made it into double digits.
- Removed old Metavariant entries for Infected metavariants from the Priority sheet.
- Added the appropriate Initiative and Movement Multiplier bonuses for the Bandersnatch, Dzoo-Noo-Qua, Goblin, Harvester, Loup-Garou, Mutaqua, Nosferatu, Vampire and Wendigo.

What I'd like from cybertorsos would be to unlock the extra +1 Augmentation limit for limbs and/or reduce the Essence cost for Cyberlimbs by a large margin. Would provide a better reason to go cybersam instead of biosam as it would increase the amount of 'ware you can cram into yourself, while still leaving bioware as the option for less-intensive singular installations.

Way I figure it, a cybertorso should be something that strongly encourages you to go all in on cyberlimbs, which it really doesn't do at the moment.

Why are there all of these rules for cybernetic replacements, but there are no rules for someone's arm getting fragging blown off or otherwise ruined during a run? It's extremely counter-intuitive to me that a game which has cyberlimbs, cloned replacement limbs, and even primitive prosthetics wouldn't have rules for dismemberment as a basic, fundamental part of the game's damage system.

It's briefcase-sized, so I wouldn't think that there's a compartment big enough to be an RCC cupboard in a drone.

However, following the rules in Data Trails for non-standard form factors (+3 Avail +20% cost) I'd let someone build one directly into a drone's structure permanently, at the above increases in availability and cost, plus a mod point.

My GM made a houserule for RCC implants, considering everything else shrunk in size (comms being smartphone sized, decks being like a tablet), yet RCC's are still briefcases. Basically followed implant deck, but slightly upped the essence cost.

So no, there isnt a rule, but if your GM is cool, he might work something out.

As for physical storage...maybe the torso? Just say it slides in horizontally like a floppy disk.

I know people have homebrewed those rules. I think they keep it out of core because cyberware is very much an optional thing in Shadowrun. It's not the kind of thing where people need to get some old Soviet arm to replace the one they lost in the EuroWar. If you have cyberware, it's a choice. It would especially fuck with mages and adepts if they needed to be constantly cloning limbs and having their essence tick away, and street samurai would have all their limbs replaced every couple months, if you assume limb loss fits in somewhere below death in the current SR damage scale.

My houserule is that if you go into physical overflow you lose two limbs or limb-equivalents (like being blinded or deafened - anything that would need an actual replacement to fix), and that if you burn Edge to survive being killed you lose two.

The one time this has ever been a problem for an Awakened character, they used magical means to regrow their lost limbs. Specifically, they got ahold of some Immortal Flower, and used it during downtime to heal all of their wounds (without the risk of taking enough damage to lose Essence).

There are kind of rules about it. I believe taking 7 points of damage at once is grounds for an edge test, failure of which results in a lost limb/organ/whatever. It's somewhere in 4E's book, I think.

I know 2e/3e had much more in depth rules regarding bodily mutilation, but they were also kind of overwritten and overcomplicated, just by virtue of being being in depth, and shoehorned in to a system that doesn't really accommodate for those kinds of things.

More likely I'd have the blade continue into the torso, or sever the arm cleanly and have it clip off your other hand in the through-strike, or have the assailant follow-up with a leg strike before you even hit the ground because there's no kill like overkill. Something that makes sense contextually.

The eyes/ears are more for limb loss due to chemical weapons and explosives, though blades have been known to do it too.

Hey, I've got good news, the initiative die is indeed working properly!

Also, we've got feedback on the attribute penalties, at least kinda. They're basically meant to just minus X from the attribute itself, not the min or max, so they're at least sorta working right in Chummer.

I've also got bad news.

If you make an elf, boost your attributes up before going infected (Which you're apparently supposed to), and then apply Harvester if you have just baseline charisma, it sorta screw up somewhat.

It's supposed to, AFAIK, have changed the cha to 1/4, instead of 3/8, but it stays as 3/4. If you try to change it at all, it yells at you like this: https://i.gyazo.com/020be863fe8323efcf7936b3baad8f6d.png

However, if you add 1 to your cha BEFORE you add Harvester, it'll work out just fine, as seen here: https://i.gyazo.com/4d52a4c92e74ece54071cd9dcf261525.png

HOWEVER, if you attempt to edit the Cha after adding harvester, it'll instantly lock it to 3(2)/4, and you can't undo it or change it without remaking the sheet or loading an old save. You can, however, freely edit Logic as normal, and that works just fine.

PSA: The 2016 Deadlift world record is 1155 pounds, or, 523.8 (Lets call it 524) Kilograms.

in shadowrun, 1 strength is 15kg

Thats the equivalent of having 35 Strength.

HOWEVER: Thats to lift it guaranteed, no rolls.

You can make a Strength+Body check in order to Lift something heavy, with every success being and additional 15kg.

So... Lets take a Troll, who has exceptional Attribute (Strength), and +4 from Muscle replacements.

Thats 15 strength. From there, a Body+STR (lets assume they have 10 body as well) is 26 dice in order to hit another 16 Successes. Sure, you could also blow edge, another 6 dice, if we're being generous...

But lets be honest. We have stronger humans in today's world than a CyberTroll could ever reasonably hope to be.
>>
>>49343340
Addendum to this: The movement rates for Harvester are not included. If you have a 7 Agi as a Harvester, your movement rates are x3 Walk and x5 Run, since it adds +1 to the multiplier, as this says: https://i.gyazo.com/5fec479dbb8262c5e579d8d9dc5eee06.png

This is just to show that it isn't doing that: https://i.gyazo.com/8f14ab9e3e7049fa9bd7cf31d4abb534.png
7 Agi, 14/28 movement rates. Should be 21/35.

Celerity works just fine, at least, as shown here: https://gyazo.com/666a0d39df44be2ce603206f598ae15b

Would it be possible to see if you could do something about the movement things when you get a chance, please?

It's the popular system that you'll be able to reliably find players for.

Make Wireless Bonuses innate, change Exceptional Attribute and Lucky to raise the minimum of the stat by 1 just like Metagenic Attribute Improvement, and maybe houserule alchemy to be less worthless. Do other ones as your group wants, but those are fairly basic.

then I hope you are good at math because the success system of 3e is harder
in 4e you can just say a character with dice pool X is usually going to get X/3 hits, meaning that they usually can do this well.
in 3e however you roll a dp with each dice applying the rule of 6, and try to get a dice above the TN
this means that if e.g. a player has a dp of X you can't easily say "he usually will get at least one die above [TN]"

However 3e has far more splatbooks, so even if you take 4e you should still read those. Mostly they are still true
>>
>>49344457
>any particular reason why?

Because that's the edition that still has players?

What's the smallest scooter/personal vehicle capable of receiving both Walker Mode and a Rigger Cocoon? I want to make a mobile command station that can follow the crew indoors without needing to worry about ramps or oversized doors or whatever. Some kind of motorized wheelchair with walker legs whose seat I could replace with a rigger cocoon would be ideal; if it can reach non-highway commuter speeds when in wheel mode, all the better.

>>
>>49344610
Well, RIP me then. I mean, it's not really hard to just use the 4e version, but damnit.
>>
>>49344457
That's 3e by a fair margin.
4e is more like modern GiTS with more magic and explosions, while 5e is its own beast - it tries to got back the 3e feel at times, but the freelancer staff combined with the new fanbase makes it feel like Tumblr playing an Ocean's Eleven game with third-party Pathfinder splats.
I really doubt that you'd find something that you like in 5e like >>49344457 says - sure, more people play 3.5 than most other games, but that doesn't mean you should never play anything else than that. There are so many differences in fluff and crunch between 3e and 5e, for example (especially in balance - CGL is much more gamist than FASA) that they're basically different games, and you really won't get the classic cyberpunk feel with 5e.
5e is SNSpunk - everything is about the cloud, AI rights, racism metaphors, sassy gnomes and pixies with Tumblr-colored hair, SURGE disasters min-maxed down to the last fraction and EVO being the unrivaled good guys in a universe that's long since stopped being cyberpunk. The old mood is barely there - the self-ironic mirrorshades feel has been replaced by a player-centric obsession with special and unique characters that all have A Beef With The Man, and the self-awareness fails at being self-ironic and just ends up cringy.
There's no reason to play the mangled corpse of a good game, supporting a Tumblrite neo-roleplayer fanbase who didn't know any other dice than D6 before Wil Wheaton told them, a corrupt company that publishes unedited books written by unpaid freelancers for full price and generally a cheap, tasteless regurgitation of classic cyberpunk with the grit cut out and replaced with institutionalized Mary Sue representativeness solely for the sake of finding players.
Would you rather wait a month to find serious players for a cyberpunk game, or wait two days to find a bunch of Tumblr drones who want to play Vocaloids, catgirls and gender-special centaurs?

As a general rule? If you have a Limit that's 50% of your dice pool it'll effectively come up never, while if it's 1/3 of your dice pool it'll be a limiter a little less than 50% of the time.

Really, though? You main concern should be whether it's big enough compared to your enemy's ability to dodge. One or two extra hits to damage are nice, but rarely actually change how many successful attacks it takes to incapacitate someone.

Improved Reflexes 3 is so good you should even get it on non-combat builds.

I always get Astral Perception too. Your Intuition should be high already (for Initiative reasons) so during legwork you can be the Perception and Assensing guy, and during combat you can see immaterial spirits and astral mages to hit with your weapon focus.

After that, Rating 1 in Strength and Agility Boost.

From there, I tend to focus on mobility powers for hitting hard-to-reach enemies, but you may prefer to buy Critical Strike, or directly boost your ability in Blades.

Also, keep in mind you don't just have to spend your dice pool on hitting. You can also spend some of it eating penalties. Called Shot: Vitals, for example, is something you can and should be doing on every attack.

Centaurs just seem a tad neglected compared to other races in the game. They cost 25 karma, which some would be a rarity tax I guess but 25 karma seems way too expensive for what they actually get.

Hell, they can be outrun by any average player character. How the fuck does that work?

You'd think a distinctive style, awkwardness getting into places and uneducated would be enough of a price to play a centaur.

So, I am really interested in running a game of 5e, but, I'm terrified by my lack of experience with the setting. I've ran various systems with various levels of success, but I could always make shit up as I went.

Here, shadowrun has a giant, rich, canonical lore that needs to be followed but I don't know enough about it. I'm terrified of doing something and the entire party calling me out on "ares would never do something like that" or "why the hell would this be a thing" or shit like that.

I've read the time line on the shadowrun wiki, but it is just the tip of the ice burg.

Is there a better way of familiarizing myself with the setting? Or am I making a mountain out of a molehill?
>>
>>49348275
just get a general idea of things going on, or find a translation of that 2050 sourcebook and use that

>>
>>49347423
>actually wanting to play a centaur
There are only, like, 40k of them in the entire world or something. They're absurdly rare and niche. That's why they cost so much - so that they're technically an option, but you'll never see them in practice.
>>
>>49348275
The only time not having a good understanding of the problem will ever be an issue is if your players know the setting better than you do. And in that situation it really can be a big problem, because they'll make potentially deadly assumptions based on canon that isn't necessarily present in your game.
>>
>>49348275
I'd recommend using one of the existing campaigns or one-shots, at least for your first session. It'd relieve your personal lore burden somewhat, and it'd let you feel the waters regarding your players.

Additionally, check the pastebin. Loads and loads of reading material in there.

Tell your players, that you would really like to run it, but are not confident in your lore-knowledge. If they are really interested in playing, they will be ready to turn a cheeck on some inconsistencies.

And depending, on how good your players know the lore and how invested they are in it, they may even prefer you keeping it simple and not necessarily 100% authentic.

Also, there is always the option of playing in a place not heavily covered by lore and creating your own corps, and big players with whatever attributes you want them to have.

Hey Guys, I need a second opinion.

I have a character who's playing a former DocWagon medi-mage, who's got a penchant for using a Riot Shield as cover for the person he's healing up.

After the last session, he was asking me about weapon Foci. Normally it applies its Force as a bonus to your attack, but he was wanting to know if he could turn his Riot Shield into a weapon focus, and give him a force bonus to defense instead.

Im inclined to give it to him, as it seems logical, but I also wanted someone else's opinion on the matter.

Also, I'm not sure how I would handle the structure rating and such at that point, if someone were to attempt to shoot 'through' it, or just straight up try to break it.
>>
>>49348159
Nope. The drone mod system states that it is optional, and they use the vehicle mod system otherwise.

>>49349198
Thematically it might be fitting. But I have the feeling you might be on a slippery slope there, rulewise.

If defensive/utility items can be made into weapon foci, you could just as well make permanently enchanted armors.

And as I understood the shield does not only protect the wielder, but also the patient he is working on.
I think allowing it would open the door to mages just making whole armorsuits and handing them out to his team.

But if you think your players won't go wild, with this little bit of rulebending, by all means go for it. It is your table.
>>
>>49343418
Does it work for the other infected? I didn't really test the functionality when I added it, I just stapled in what SHOULD work and went from there.
>>
>>49349394

See, thats what I was worried about. Magic armors just aren't going to be a good idea, and I don't want to say "No, because I said so."

And yeah, he plants the shield down to provide cover for him and the patient.

I'll keep thinking on it. thanks for the 2 cents.
>>
>>49349449
Another thought I just had.

I do not know the ruletables for that by heart, but would a modern ballistic shield/riot shield not be made out of reasonable sophisticated materials?

Special alloys or cevlar composite fabrics, maybe ceramic thrown in. I bet those would be a bitch to enchant.

Also, no harm in having a bigass shield you can use to ram spirits in the face.
>>
>>49349449
Personally I'd allow it, but say that
>these enchantments can only help make or take more damage, no evasion
>every time it's hit it may lose/lessen the enchantment.
>>
>>49349544

Lessen the enchantment by how much?

>>49349504

That is specifically why I'm more inclined. If he's willing to take THAT effort, then I'm inclined to let him do it. Its far from 'free'.

Also, the only 'evasion' he gets is a cover bonus (lugging that thing around is a bitch) otherwise, the only thing he's asking for is +force in Soak dice when he is under fire.

Also, an interesting question: Would a Riot Shield be Ballistic Glass, or Armored Glass?

I ask, in part, for the 'how much of a bitch it is to enchant' aspect, as well as the fact that Ballistic Glass has a Structure of 4 and an Armor of 6, while Armored Glass has a structure of 8 and an armor of 12, for people trying to shoot through it. I'm inclined to believe the latter, since this IS the future, but then again... I dunno.
>>
>>49349198
Well, the first wrench in that plan is that foci are only active while your aura is touching them.
>>
>>49349848

He's holding it still. Is there anything saying you can't hold a shield and cast a spell at the same time?
>>
>>49350161
nope, what yekka probably meant was that unless you are holding it it's just a normal riot shield
>>

>>49350386

>>
>>49350404

>>

>>
>>49350705
Fantastic.

It's often more cost effective, Essence/PP-wise, to get your stat boosts from bioware, for example, and then your Initiative from adept powers.

That, and if your GM is willing, you might be able to get a weapon focus blade made into a cyber spur and installed in a cyberarm (which itself might be rocking Strength/Agility 9 and Armor 3, all for just (or even less than) 1 Essence/PP equivalent) for truly fun fuckery, in true Shadowrun cyberpunk fantasy fashion.

Improved Reflexes is always great. Also take the Speed Demon quality if you plan on going fast nearly all the time.

A personal favorite of mine from R5 is gecko tips. Aside from a great escape plan of just riding up a building, makes for a great way of side income by playing chicken with other riders that don't know you have them. And don't forget your spoof chips and morphing license plate(s) in case you've got a GM that'll throw everything he can at you.
>>
>>49351214

He's a Medi-Mage. He casts Heal, which he can do one handed. I mean, no, he can't do First Aid, other than throw a Medkit on them and set it to Autopilot, but his Schtick is the Heal Spell

As soon as I saw your words, I added Gecko-tips to my sheet. Thanks, going to have some real fun with that.

Got a question about Chummer though, this lower segment has some -27 numbers and I can't for the life of me figure out what the hell they are. Consulted the book a few times, but none of these appear on the actual vehicle stats?
>>
>>49351800

Too many mods added. You cant go over a certain amount and right now you're 27 over the powertrain mod limits and 10 over the protection limits.
>>
>>49351828
Damn. I only even have two mods which influence those though. Guess I've gotta find a way to get past that.
>>
>>49351839

What ratings do you have them at? if I recall correctly speed mods are only 5 points for rank 1 and the others are 4
>>
What's the highest unarmed damage you guys have managed to get in 5e?

I ask because another player in a game I'm in claims they can build a character with almost 40P DV, but refuses to tell anyone how.
>>
>>49351874
Even speed enhancement 1 puts me at -4. Goddamn, here I was, thinking I could truly go FAST.
>>
>>49351895

Get a better bike for the base.
>>
>>49351915
Only better bikes are ones with 8 power, but are 2 speed slower. Guess if I want to gofast I have to get a car. How weird.
>>
How important is reaction for adepts focusing on melee combat? And how can I get the most out of unarmed combat for adepts? I can't seem to get much DV for unarmed combat.
>>
>>49351107
Gracias, omae.
>>
>>49351993
Not getting hit is only second to not being seen. Not hurting as much from being hit comes a distant third.

Agility, high physical limit for high accuracy (more hits = more net hits = more damage)
Then strength and adept powers.
>>
>>49352071
Ahh, that makes sense. Thanks!
>>
>>49351993
The only stats that a combat character doesn't need are Charisma and Logic, and the way you boost unarmed damage is Bone Density Augmentation and Striking Calluses.
>>
>>49352118
Ah, unfortunately I'm hoping to pick up regeneration in the future so those are no-go, until I can afford deltaware.
>>
>>49352139
Then don't go unarmed. Get a weapon focus. Better damage, WAY better dice pool.
>>
>>49352177
Gotcha.

...If i put tattoos on my fists, could they count as weapon focuses?
>>
>>49352197
The rules say it has to be a melee weapon, but your GM might allow it if you increased the nuyen cost or something.
>>
>>49352260
Ah darn, I see. Thanks for the ideas though!
>>
>>49349415
Nope, the other ones don't seem to work either.
>>
>>49352197
Still worse damage than getting a combat knife weapon focus.
>>
>>49351895
A Mirage is still a Speed 6 bike, which is really fucking fast. And with an Acceleration of 3, you'll be able to reach the requirement for Speed Demon in one go (which is +1 to ALL piloting tests as long as you're going 3 or faster.)

So really, you don't need the speed and acceleration enhancements. And you wanna stick to the bike theme, the Mirage is best you'll get. Only only bike that can compare is the Yamaha Kaburaya, but it's more expensive for the same stats with two less armor. (What a deal!)
>>
>>49352401
Yes, but it still fucking infuriates me that I could buy a fucking truck and mod it out to be speed 7.

I'm probably going to ask the GM if I can fluff the Gladius as a bike. If not then I'll just take the Gladius as a damn car and be done with it.
>>
>>49352401
Get a spirit to use the Movement power.
>>
are there any good lore books for 5e? my friend gave me a big fucking pdf with almost everything published for it and i'm wondering where to start with some of this stuff so i can know more about the setting i'm getting into here
>>
>>49352571

Depends on what part of the lore you want to read. Market Panic is all about the megacorps for example, Chrome Flesh is about augments, and if you want to know about Seattle you read the books from the Seattle Sprawl Box+ Seattle 2072 (I found that 2072 had a lot more detail on potential locations you might visit in the city)
>>
>>49352625
that's almost exactly the stuff i needed actually, thanks chummer
>>
Do AI have any sort of astral presence, or are they completely inert to a mage? The most powerful like Deus seem to have a massive presence in the world and things like Otaku and the Deep Resonance point to a sort of spirituality in the tech world but I can't tell if they're completely separate and non-interacting systems or if they bleed into each other at all.
>>
>>49352783
>Do AI have any sort of astral presence
They don't even have a physical presence. No.
>>
>>49352783
The idea of Resonance and Magic being related is supported just enough to be a theory and that's it. Nothing concrete, just the possibility.
>>
>>49352429
You can do the same to the Mirage. Rating 1 Speed Enhancement will make it a Speed of 7. The only downside is having to give up the gecko tips.

But in essence, it makes some sense. There is more room on a truck to add stuff onto compared to a motorcycle.

Though this segways nicely into: what kind of racer you making? Street racer on a bike? Sponsored racer in a car? Vice versa? Demo derby with a pickup that has a drone arm swinging a combat axe?

>>49352459
That would work great for races where distance matters, but does it alter the vehicle stats when it comes to tests and such?

Is time travel a thing in Shadowrun? Alternatively, are there any people around doing some kind of cosmic business to make sure the timeline stays on the fated or "right" path?
>>
I'm going into a group with a mage, decker, face/infil and street sam/wheelman. The street sam prefers melee and so only really uses guns he can one hand alongside his sword.

Should I make a gun bunny/medic to compliment the sam with ranged suppressive fire so he can get close and cut a bitch? or would a drone rigger be more help for the group?

Ditch the adept part, get a control rig and something for initiative.
>>
>>49353299
The thing about being a combat medic is that you're either fixing someone OR shooting someone. A rigger can do both at once with drones and then some. However, that does lock you out of magical options like double tapping with the heal spell after you finish with the medkit or assensing.
>>
>>49353299
go rigger, you already have a mage to do all the stuff a healfag mage can already do

Thanks, I'll just have to make him a drone rigger because I dont feel like trampling on the sams toes when it comes to driving.

Also will need to figure out a way to transport drones. Probably a van with landing racks parked a block away from the run or something
>>
>>49353517
Still fairly sucky at everything, even driving for someone that's supposed to be a vehicle specialist. If you want to do something at all, you should be looking at 8+ dice, and 12+ dice for something you want to be good at.

No ability to fire vehicle mounted weapons accurately, overloaded on close combat blade weapons. Your commlink is shit and won't defend you against anything. You don't need two medkits, you definitely don't need ambidextrous, and you're not going to hurt anyone with those throwing knives, unless they pull a muscle with laughter. I'm sure there's more.
>>
Strategies for someone with severe allergy to sunlight aside from not going out during the day, wearing sunscreen (does this even work?), and full-body clothing?
>>
>>49353517

A small note on what >>49353632 said

With Medkits, they get a number of uses equal to their rating. So, that rating 6 medkit can be used 6 times before refilling it. Thats why you don't need two medkits
>>
>>49353632
Oh yeah;

Willpower 1, when willpower is your stun track, aka "I'm not unconscious from biofeedback yet" gauge, and your matrix defence mental attribute.

Logic 2, which means you'll be paying out the ass to have anything repaired.

Intuition 2, which is your other initiative attribute.

>>49353681
Sunscreen doesn't work. 100% covering clothing does.
>>
Question, if I'm using a vehicle with a remote weapon mount and flip a manual control override switch, does that mean I cant use the weapon anymore?
>>
>>49353192
>>49353517

For the adept version: re-read Attribute Boost, especially the part about what each rank of the power gives you.

Iaijutsu is a very bad martial arts tech for adepts because you have access to the stellar Rapid Draw power, which does everything Iaijutsu does but more and better. Being able to attack as a free action is incredibly powerful because you can use your free action even before your turn if you aren't surprised.

The thing about melee damage is that augs boost it better via access to strength boosters that are comparatively very expensive for adepts. Your mundane version isn't taking advantage of that. You've got essence to spare and muscle replacements aren't that expensive.

The adept isn't going to match the mundane in raw damage without also taking augs, but you will have higher initiative and some other perks as well as not needing as much money. This sort of character definitely can work as an adept, you just need to use your power points more efficiently.

I think you're hamstringing yourself by trying to do melee, which is very resource intensive because you need strength plus the stats everyone else wants, and throwing a ton of money into your bike while getting very little out of it.

One thing to look at is the Melee Attack action from Rigger 5 (page 179), which lets you add the speed of your vehicle to the damage of your melee attack.
>>
>>49353701
Wait, so what's the fluff for why sunscreen doesn't work?

Matrices.

>>49353681
An adorable parasol. Or any umbrella, really, acid rain is a common thing (So gloves and a hood wouldn't be unusual either). You could also do business via drone or matrix, travelling by car when necessary.
>>
>>49353791
Makes sense, do you know how much an umbrella + full clothing reduces the severity?
>>
>>49353045
Hijacking is any kind of vehicle theft where the pilot is at the helm at the time of the theft.

So, carjacking someone at a stoplight? That's a hijacking. Storming the cockpit of a plane to steal it while it's in the air? Hijacking. Staging a mutiny or otherwise pirating a ship? Also hijacking.

But yes, being a great vehicle thief is a great lead-in to becoming a runner, especially of the driver/rigger variety, and to a lesser extent maybe some kind of security specialist.
>>
>>49353790
If sunscreen works at your table, that's great, but I couldn't recommend it to another table.

There are mechanics for 100% cover clothing working vs sunlight allergies.

Sweet, thanks. And is there anywhere that says sunscreen doesn't work? Broad spectrum zinc oxide sunscreen is commonplace today and specifically blocks both UVA and UVB.
>>
>>49354178
Does it turn you invisible?

No?

Then sunlight's still touching you.
>>
>>49354218
Does that mean that casting invisibility also works?
>>
>>49354218
Eh? But the component that injures is the UVA part specifically. Reducing the amount of UVA that touches you should logically do something, right?
>>
>>49354003
To be fair, the sunlight allergy that Infected get is significantly worse than a regular allergy to sunlight, even if it's severe. If you had porphyria or something you'd have a much higher threshold for UV than a banshee, for example, even though I'd say porphyria counts as severe.
>>
>>49354242
That's true, but this is the only rule I could find that specifically notes the sunlight allergy and how to protect yourself.
>>
>>49354218
Zinc oxide is used because unlike most other sunscreens which affect the way your skin handles UV absorption, it's an actual physical barrier that UV light has difficulty penetrating. (If you use the good stuff, that is.)

I'd rule that it would reduce but not remove the sunlight penalties, but you'd get a social dicepool penalty because of how weird you'd look with chalky white stuff rubbed over every inch of exposed flesh.
>>
>>49354228
Improved Invisibility, possibly, since that's a Physical bending of light.

>>49354229
Oh wait we're talking Infected, never mind
