Actually I disagree, but only because of how the original Planescape was actually written.
Unfortunately it was constructed like the Old World of Darkness games, heavy on invincible NPC's who cannot loose and detailed organizations and places where they tell you "you will totally instantly die if you go here, how extreme is that?" but few actual player plot hooks and not much space for independent adventurers not affiliated with the wildly opposed to each other factions.

If it was substantially re-written flavor wise but with the same setting and style you might be right.

Just see Paraguay. This exactly what happened to them in the War of the Triple Alliance or Paraguayan War. 70% of its adult male population died in the war, effectively destroying Paraguay as a country. It didn't recover until fairly recently.

Hmmm, yes. Just a bit, since it seems like unless the King is in on some practical joke, he wouldn't keep a useless sword. In times of combat, he would of at least thought of using it once, and would have either proven it's usefulness, or would of thrown it away.

Though if you want to make it up to the players, you could always have inscriptions on the sword, or another component (like a sheathe that it needs to be put into after every battle, or else it can't use it's ability next time) that can be found. Anything that would give another step to an adventure and could offer the sword as a powerful tool eventually. Even if not nearly so powerful as described in the legends.

It's a national symbol. Not everything needs to have combat application, what is important is how people see it. The rumors the peasantry have about it are more powerful than +2 to hit.

The twist: The king is aware, as are all the nobles that the sword is shit, because it's just some random dude's sword from centuries ago, and serves as a figurehead device of sorts.

The ACTUAL sword of the king from centuries ago that was lost is incredibly powerful, durable beyond the ages, and ensures whoever is wielding it is, in essence, a god of victory in all things he endeavors.

It is held, by the BBEG.

Even simple games have a lot of depth (go, for example), and simple games are especially fun.

So, no, I wouldn't fix anything in a way you imply.

What I WOULD fix with all card games, though, is get rid of rarity and mana system and substitute it with something different, because, fuck, literally everyone copies MtG in that regard.

was my first. I'll take the easy way out; it's a Wild West Fantasy, a little bit grim and unpleasant where people are constantly looking for redemption out in the wilds of a fantasy land. There are lots of monsters in the dark, but there's also an actual, dedicated religious organization that fights them and isn't secretly evil, hoping to inspire others to take up the blade.

This time I'm not taking the easy way out. The protagonist is Miranda Laire, a femme fatale from the Church sent to investigate the small town of Heaven's Sakes. She's a man's woman, not a Churchgoing lady, but she's been paid a lot of money to resolve the problems of Heaven's Sake, a known monster hangout. She's going to redeem one of the monsters with the Power of Love because that's a solid, old-school story.

The BBEG is a travelling salesman who masquerades as a preacher, going from town to town and giving people his snake oil, which doesn't cure ills but spreads monsters made from peoples' unhappiness. He feels awful about doing this, but he's been made a Promise by a dark force that if he does it, he'll be able to see his wife again, so he rides the newly-made rail system and spreads evil through fire-and-brimstone preaching. Heaven's Sake is just the latest town without a Church he's come to.

I'm idly shitting around with an idea for a Harvester Elf Blade Adept, and doing infiltration and combat. Glass-cannonish, basically.

damaging stats is one of the best ways to represent damage imo. That way you get weaker as you take more damage, and become unable to function normally. Traveller does this pretty well. Its not even un-fun, as usually the gap between "fine" and "unconscious" is very small, so its not often you have everyone badly wounded, crawling around trying to do things.

In terms of standard D&D, you could have AC be higher across the board, but all hits roll on a crit table that ranges from minor cosmetic damage to install death. Combat could be terribly deadly but the higher AC could mitigate that somewhat. You could even have a system for damaging armor when the attack "misses" because of the armor. This would slowly degrade the armor over time and lower the AC needed to do damage.

So I'm going to ask this, in the setting I'll be in the pack that controlled Wisconsin were the supernatural top dogs. They permitted Vampires and other supernatural in there land but it was understood it was because the pack felt they added to the ecosystem or benefited them.

Now that super pack is gone, it's shattered fragments building small weak packs of survivors. Meaning there is a clear power vaccum. What is likely to threaten Milwaukee wanting to fill that vaccum?

Extreme pride. Alexios' accomplishments embody the Emperor's homes for the Imperium of Man.

Alexios has great respect for the rights of the mechanicus and incorporates many Machine Cult concepts into his Euangelia Theologia in M36. He sees their role as distinct and prefers to work with the Fists of Mars rather than train his own techmarines, though there are some.

Each successor chapter of the Angels of Light is founded with a distinct and explicit goal, granted to them by the determination of the White Angel and his administratum. Quite often they are chartered to take territory in Tempestus, or defend the Neutral Zone bordering the Kor Protectorate, or other military tasks. Sometimes other Crusader states petition Imperium Minorum for aid, and chapters are founded in response.

Several Athame blades were recovered from the Bloodhounds and are used to attempt to create daemonspawn of the God Emperor.

It'd be pretty wild. The Indigenous nations had some great and terrifying mythologies. For example, those Wandjina in your picture have no mouths. Why? Because if they had mouths, and they opened them, the water pouring out would drown the world. The Indigenous peoples in the Kimberly region, where the Wandjina cult started, repainted them at the start of every wet season, in an effort to contain the coming flood from the sky. If, at the end of the wet season, the world was not underwater they could consider their efforts to have been successful.
