Q - How do I play?
A - It's a CYOA, there are no established mechanics for the rescue. All the pages to the game are in the imgur album linked in resources.

Q - Why aren't/are we we working on; Fan Gen III/Knights/combat mechanics/etc.
A - We recognize that spreading out our efforts is part of what originally killed the project after Gats left. Accordingly, we're focusing on just one thing at a time and finishing them out.

Q - Hey, can we make a princess about X fetish?
A - It generally comes down to what people like. Propose the idea and see if others want it.

Q - Is there a map/unified setting?
A - Nope. Though proposals have been made, nothing concrete has been created.

Q - Can I post fanart/fanfiction here?
A - Go right on ahead. Just make sure it's within the global rules.

Let's be honest, I fucking love GATE.

I know plenty of burgers and vatniks were assblasted with it, as japan is depicted as both "gud boi dindu nuffin" and "l33t as fuck", but still the storyline is plenty refreshing, and basically satisfied my imagination/fantasy of what would happen when modern human get access to this medieval-like world

So let's take GATE as a template improve upon it, using elements from both LoTR and TES

What are your party's members to eachother? Are they true friends or merely allies of convenience? Do they live together? Are they likely to keep hanging out together even after their adventuring days are over?

Usually mondays at 4PM GMT, but they sometimes extend to Tuesdays if we got caught in the middle of something when the thread died and it was too late to make another one the same day.

Sure, just think of a character and have fun, you can find most info in 1d4chan albeit it's ussually a little bit out of date in comparison to where the threads are.

Not really, we've had Xeno infiltrators, Chaos infiltrators, Villains, Heroes, Normal Guardsmen, Crazed Guardsmen, Assassins, Psykers, Space Marines, Inquisitors, Squats... just think whathever and join the fun.

Yes as long as you don't use it to powerplay.

We tend to use spoilers for OOC chat, but nothing is set in stone.
We tend to use greentexts for describing a character's actions, but again nothing is set in stone.
Use d20s for combat checks and d100s for other things you want to roll, higher Is better.
It's important to know that the regiment is now in the employ of a radical Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, with influence from an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor and under the watch of an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor. Yes we've been through a lot of shit.

So what were the Primarch's opinion of each other before the Heresy? Everyone loved Horus and Sanguinius (even Angron), right? Perturabo hated Dorn, but liked Magnus, Vulkan and Ferrus Manus, and respected Fulgrim and Guilliman.

Why do so many bad GMs act like "combat speed" is something totally beyond their control, something they can only fix by changing systems or something?

I see this all the time on /tg/. People who don't seem to get that the game's pace is literally whatever the GM decides it is. And in every single solitary case, I can 100% guarantee you that these are GMs who allow the players to spend like 3 minutes hemming and hawwing over what they're going to do on their turn, instead of putting their fucking feet to the fire and saying "It's your turn, go" and making them skip their turn if they are not on the fucking ball. And then they wonder why their other players aren't engaged and why they get distracted by other stuff and have to be reminded all the time about what's actually happening, whereas if the pace was kept up enough they would pay attention of their own volition because that's how they NOT DIE.

And don't give me that "b-but muh complex mechanics" shit. Charts can be printed and put in front of you if they need to be referenced, cheat sheets can be made, and literally every p&p game uses basic math, usually just addition and subtraction in very small numbers as the basis of any sort of crunch. If it takes you more than 10 seconds to figure out whether an attack roll of 7 with a BAB of +5 hit against an AC of 14, you may actually be retarded, and switching systems or doing whatever stupid tricks you think will make combat go faster will not make you less retarded.

Why do so few GMs understand this?
