It's not the biggest deal, don't overthink it and you should be fine.

Making them a good, fleshed out and consistent character should always take precedence over any particular aspect, and how their gender affects who they are, their personality and their place in the world depends very much on the context and setting they find themselves in.

99% of the time even a well-roleplayed character doesn't come off as one gender or another. I've had girls playing girls, boys playing boys, girls playing boys and boys playing girls. None of the resultant characters came off as strongly gendered.

Replace trenches with walls or castles and you have a similar thing. Assaulting a castle at the time could be borderline suicidal. Have two sets of walls from opposing sides that are placed relatively close to each other and it would be similar to trench warfare. Maybe add a moat or river in between for added difficulty.

I seriously need to work on my awareness, jesus christ. This isn't the first time something like this happens. I've lost countless games because I failed to notice some detail that could have turned the match, only to realize my mistake afterwards and facepalm myself like a baboon.

I thought that was what people like about the deck so much - the need to squeeze out maximum efficiency at every opportunity. don't feel too bad, though. for me at least, it's kind of exciting knowing how much room for improvement I have.
