How would you fluff a magical race that seeks to religiously exterminate any form of hypocrisy or double standard?
How would they implement this?
Sounds tricky. A cult or subculture would be pretty doable, but it's hard to imagine a whole race magically dedicated to something so vague.
Maybe check out the webcomic "Templar, Arizona." There's a subculture in the setting that call themselves "The Sincereists" and have a policy about only being totally honest. As you'd predict, they're complete assholes.
>religious
>against hypocrisy
pick one

>a magical race that seeks to religiously exterminate any form of hypocrisy or double standard?
Not exterminating their own race? Double standards much?
I need some side quest ideas that would fit into a middle-east based medieval slightly surreal setting.

Also heavy Germanic influence is key.

I like them Hollywood hillbilly style

I still don't understand this. What exactly is "digging to deep"?
>>49692433
Digging too Deep is the act of digging and unearthing some sort of horror. You never know what might lie beneath the earth.
Help me /tg/
I'm working on a simple fantasy homebrew system, but I can't think of how to handle swords.
The other weapon types all have something they're good at (axes do a little more damage, blunt weapons ignore a portion of the target's armor, spears have reach, unarmed doesn't do much damage but lets you attempt to trip/disarm/etc while still doing damage), but I can't think of something to give swords.
I could give them a slight mana cost reduction for special attacks, or have them give some kind of durability bonus (to represent parrying and such), or have them take a little less time to swing, but I'd like solutions that are a bit more elegant.
What are some other ideas for bonuses that swords could have over other weapon types?
>>49692223
You can carry sword on your belt pretty comfortably while doing other things.
>>49692223
Defensive abilities?
>>49692265
True, but that's not going to be a big enough bonus to keep up with the other weapon types given the fairly combat-oriented feel I'm going to be shooting for with this one.
>>49692286
I already considered that, but it feels kind of hamfisted. It's probably what I'll go with if I can't think of anything better, though.
I've been playing chess off and on for almost 30 years now but some episodes of Detective Conan got me interested in Shogi.
Is there a good place to learn and some kind of Shogi PC game?
>>49692113
It's a pretty terrible game,
I played / got good at it on a DS version of the game, I regret every moment.
>>49692124
What's terrible about it? It seems very similar to chess.
>>49692141
all the pieces look the same unless you know moonrunes,
Yes, they all move in their own way, and in a way it IS similar to chess. It's just the chink eyed version to where half the way into the game you won't remember what piece does what.
what is exactly a fighter?
Taking D&D for example, it's someone with training in weapons and have the equipment according to that training.
what makes someone into a fighter? Is it the training, combat experience, weapon expertise or simple brawn?
taking to our modern times, we could say that a foot soldier (Grunt) is a soldier, but what about Special Forces, Sniper Teams or PJ (Pararescue) are they fighters or some mix with other things? If every marine (US) is a rifleman, that means that every marine is a fighter too?
>>49692032
at least from 3.5, grunts would be warrior.
fighter would be special forces or mercenaries

I'm a first-time DM, was gonna start over with 5E (come from having been a long-time 3.5 player) for a bunch of guys that are also relatively new to the game. One of my players's character idea would be that of a "sniper" (ranged longbow guy I assume) who would have some winged animal companion that would help him spot enemies from the air and whatnot.
5E Ranger seems to be the way to go but he wouldn't be able to get an animal companion until 3rd level with the Beast Master archetype, besides I see almost everyone universally agrees 5E ranger is all fluff and all weak.
Wtf do I do in this situation?
Make the game start at level 3 like everyone does running 5e unless they hate fun cause defined class abilities start there. Also that's still the best option because if you built a archer fighter it doesn't get an animal even with feats
Well, you start by using this official Unearthed Arcana revision instead.
Then you have him take the Hunter Conclave. Then instead of giving him an animal companion with mechanical benefits you just let him buy a falcon with gold and train it to do normal falcon shit.
>>49688936
I agree. I love the revised ranger, and have a player in my game running one. Hide in Plain Sight really should be called "Camouflage" though.
