>Modern Nexus metagame stats are prevalence-based numbers reflecting how frequently a deck appears in tournament Top 8s, Top 16s, and Day 2s (as well as MTGO finishers). It does not consider a deck’s Match Win Percentage (MWP) or other “performance-based” metrics. A deck can be an excellent strategy and a strong metagame choice regardless of its tier, although there is certainly a correlation between frequently played decks and high-performing decks.

Magic: The Gathering Frontier General

Frontier is a brand new format for Magic: the Gathering. It's a non-rotating Constructed format in which all Standard-legal sets from Magic 2015 onward are legal.

That means that as of October 2016, Frontier-legal sets are:

>Magic 2015
>Khans of Tarkir
>Fate Reforged
>Dragons of Tarkir
>Magic Origins
>Battle for Zendikar
>Oath of the Gatewatch
>Shadows over Innistrad
>Eldritch Moon
>Kaladesh

Supplementary sets such as Eternal Masters, Conspiracy, Commander 2016 and Masterpieces Series are not legal.

This is a general for discussing Frontier - show us your brews, report your tournament findings, and complain about fetch lands (which I can already tell will be a popular topic).

Basically the idea is to get a bunch of tokens on the field, drop Cryptolith Rite and Jeskai Ascendancy (each helps you look for the other, which is nice), then chain Dig Through Times, Anticipates, and Treasure Cruises until you have an army of absolutely massive tokens and can make as many other tokens as you need if you can't close out the game this turn due to them having too many blockers.

I've done some testing and it's doing pretty well; it's surprising consistent. I've only run out of gas once out of maybe 20 games. Any thoughts?

Haven't ever actually played Exalted but love the setting. Unfortunately my favourite types of Exalted were Alchemicals and I get the feeling it will be years before they get a 3e splatbook.

I did like Prometheans in WoD, and Liminals seem to be not-Prometheans, so at least theres something... months away probably.
>>

>Alchemicals

they were one of the reasons I got into Exalted in the first place, and everyone here shares the pain of waiting for their favourite splats. Have you taken a look at the Alchemicals homebrew in the folder?

Instead of doing all kinds of "normal" shit to beat my foes. I decide to play a trick on the Devil, telling him that I would grant him my soul if a meteor completely obliterated a certain tyrant's castle, fully intending to use the "exact words" tactic.

Long story short; the aforementioned castle is now hurtling through outer space towards a meteor. How do I get out of the contract now?

How's it going gA? Long time no see.

I have a few different questions for you:
>How does sending your commander to the command zone work in terms of the stack? What happens if I agonizing demise their commander?

>Is there anything you can do to bounce Skullbriar, or can you always send it to the command zone to keep its counters?

>How do replacement effects work in general?
>>
>>49737179
Yeah, work's been kicking my ass, and I let my Captcha pass expire.

>Command zone
The only things that go on the stack are activated abilities, triggered abilities, and spells. Sending your Commander to the Command zone instead of whatever zone it was headed for is a replacement effect and does not use the stack. It just replaces "go to ZONE" with "Go to Command zone". So for Demise, it would destroy the creature, which would go to the command zone instead of to the graveyard, and then they'd take damage equal to its power as it last existed on the battlefield.

>Skullbriar
You used to be able to bounce it, but now that you can Command Zone any time it would go to another zone, they can always just shunt it back into the command zone instead of their hand or library, to keep the counters.

>Replacement effects
Basically they just replace one event with another. For example, Furnace of Rath says "If a source would deal damage to a creature or player, it deals double that damage to that creature or player instead.". So, say you cast Lightning Bolt with a Furnace out. As that Bolt goes to resolve, Furnace replaces the number 3 with the number 6, effectively.
>>
>>49737255
These Captchas are becoming arcane bullshit, but thankfully they've helped my visual acuity a lot. I bet we'd be awesome at Where's Waldo.

Thanks for the explanation, for some reason I could never wrap my head around how replacement effects work. I've been trying to brew something to perma-exile someone's commander, and outside of those cards where it's like "Choose a card name, players can't cast cards with the chosen name" there really isn't anything. I thought Exclusion Ritual in multiplayer Brago would be pretty spicy, but they can always shove their commander back in the zone to completely avoid the effect, so it's kind of useless.

Does /tg/ like limited MTG?

>Draft
>Sealed

Personally, I love it. It's pretty much the only way I play MTG anymore. I think it's reasonable to argue Draft is one of if the not the most skill testing formats besides being just plain fun. I love playing commons and uncommons, building my deck on limited resources and finding great synergies. It even solves the "pay-to-win" angle of a TCG some people hate.

Bump for great Kaladesh build arounds?
>>
Limited is pretty much all I play anymore. Standard rotates too quickly and is kind of boring anyway (Kaladesh brought some wacky things, so I might be looking into something cheap for Standard) and Modern and Legacy have been ruined by our greatest ally.
Limited very rarely changes in price and is always full of excitement.

I'll agree that drafting is one of the most skill-intensive facets of this game, but I also feel that Sealed gets written off too quickly. They're different beasts that require different skills and Sealed is still hard to get good at.
>>
>>49730944
I've been trying to focus on draft recently, but I definitely agree that sealed is a different skill set. I've found that I tend to excel in Sealed a bit more, since I think my card evaluation is pretty good. I just have a lot more trouble in draft. It's difficult to find the correct mix of cards to build a deck with synergy and power.

>if you want to find local players for a tabletop RPG, anon, why not just look at your local/university clubs?

Why is it that every board gaming club in existence, whether it be at a university or elsewhere, ends up being populated solely by the kinds of people who dye their hair neon and wear "cloaks" and shit to meetings? All I want to do is find a group of semi-decent people to try and join in on that doesn't involve driving over an hour to the nearest major city, I didn't think that was too much to ask for.

I'm saying this as someone who has been a student at multiple universities now, and in another instance it was visiting a friend for the weekend who attended a different university and wanted to check out what their club was like. I don't know if it's just really shitty luck, but it seems to be a universal constant here.
