I have an idea for a Chapter, need advice.
They recruit from a prison planet, so huge, there are literally millions of jails. So many criminals, executions are by hanging (rope is cheap, easy to get, etc). They only take the children of hangmen (like I said there are millions), because they truly understand duty, justice, and punishment.
Recruits go through trials and at the end, are taken to the gallows, their left hand is tied behind their back, a noose is put around their neck, and they are essentially hanged. They can only use their right hand to reach up and untie the knot. If they free themselves they are said to have "taken the knot" and are made a brother.
Chapter is called The Hanged. Battle cries would be something like Take the Knot! (Still working on it)
Also still working on the color scheme, but I think black armor (maybe robes) and a pinkish/reddish hand, to signify their freedom.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
I've sent this idea to some friends and haven't heard back yet.

Also Kroot are shit. They're just expendable meatshields. Having a whole army oriented around them would be incredibly boring. If Tau auxiliaries had the same love that Genestealers then that would be fine.
A "fun" army to play against is something that tries to bring all the neat units into the battle in a combined arms fashion. Not just spamming any one single unit. A good Tau player would know that some well supported fire warrior unit is a cheaper and arguably better source of anti infantry fire power than the other units.
I'm so tired of hearing non Tau players complain about "muh Battlesuits or muh Riptides" They're there in the codex, they have a purpose, just like the FWs.source then any of the battle suits. Just because you get butthurt at the cheesemongers doesn't mean that the other Tau players have to stop using a particular unit. Quit bitching.

Hey Im just heading out the door but its my favorite system. It has its cons such as FFG's kind of shitty translation job but over all its great. Beyond basic combat and skill checks there are 3 main "power sources", being Ki, mana, and physic matrices. It really lets you build just about anything you want without having to house rule, I have only ever found maybe 3 characters I couldnt build out of rules in the book. Whats great is all 3 of these power "types" work differently yet numbers/rules wise mesh without issue. I also really like the premade setting out of the book even though I dont run games in it I use my own homebrew world but I keep up on all the info on Gaia because I think its fantastic.

I've played it only once, and it seemed almost needlessly complex, combined with random scaling that couldn't really be compared against the other scaling.
And it's very much a game of "you can build anything, but there are some righ choices and some wrong choices, and it's not going to be obvious which are which"
