The players are a group who is trying to fight back against the quickly and seemingly inevitable conception of AI using a combination of social interactions (and potentially subterfuge) because they see the likely path that AI will lead us down.

Also GURPS Banestorm is pretty much a done deal setting with people from Earth randomly getting transported to fantasy Yrth.

All you need to do is basically have one of the countries in Yrth figure out how to use dimensional science/magic and... you know the rest.

As I understand it, you're looking at a system that does gunfights well, with the option for magic powers.
I suggest GURPS, Unknown Armies or Dark Heresy (gotta need a lot of paint with the last one). Maybe Shadowrun if you have a previous experience with the system.

Good luck with that. Modern military rpgs are rare enough without looking for fancy things like that.
I'd make it a matter of support and forces in presence rather than kit.

Why do you think weapon technology will advance that much but armor technology will not?

Because in the future of space, it's easily possible to mass manufacture personal armour that can stop pretty much any ballistic or energy projectile short of a starship cannon.

Last week's post. I was slow getting it up and missed the last thread.

Exploration of the chamber and documenting what was there occupied the next several moments, with the Colonel requesting the repulsive parasite on the dead man's chest be removed. Cosette removed it and stored it in an emptied ammunition case with ether as a preservative and if needed, poison to kill it.

With the room searched we went across the hall and found an identical one, with another coffin like the last. Preparations were made to take a combative person alive before opening this one but inside the case we found the man already still and dead. This is why there was such surprise when he woke up anyway and attacked.

Able work by Ashton Carter killed the dead man extra dead with a shot though the eye of his jackle-headed armor, allowing the team to strip him bare and see the strange crystals growing though his flesh. Tobias Fletcher, meanwhile, took some time to enjoy examing a magic-seeming brazier that produced light like fire without heat. His examinations revealed a crystal that seemed to power it, he removed and pocketed it.

The next attempt was to leave by repeating what they did to come down, fitting the Assistant into a matching depression on the stone throne flanked by lions. This did not release them, and in fact instead made a wall vanish and reveal a new, grand chamber with a massive sarcopgous.

If you're writing a book, story/characters first (dependent on what you're writing) and then worldbuildilng.

If you're making an RPG book, worldbuilding all the way.

But yeah, free trolls are a thing. Always great when you're on a hardcore PvP server with death penalties and a 20 STR halforc barbarian with power attack logs in, one shots you, emotes laugh repeatedly then loots your corpse and logs off forever

If you want examples from IRL mythology, both Ares and Athena were gods of war to the Greeks.

Put simply, Ares was the god of the destruction of war and wrath and single combat and all that shite, while Athena was the goddess of wisdom and war, of strategy and shit. Also arts and crafts, but that's not as relevant.
