>Roll ability scores, create character around scores
OR
>Create character, attempt to roll ability scores that fit said character
Which do you prefer?
>>50844919
Neither.
>Create base character concept, roll ability scores, finalize character design around results.
>>50844919
It depends. I normally prefer the first, unless i have a specific character concept i really really want to try.
Roll 3d6 down the line, play a broken unplayable mess.I play Rifts
I'll start.
> The setting takes place some centuries after the fall of the extremely advanced ancient city Pecuniae. Many debate on the cause of the fall of Pecuniae. Some believe that the Gods struck them down for their hubris, and others believe that it was their own arrogance that sealed their fate. Most of the world is blasted desert wasteland, or flooded ocean, and fertile land is highly sought after.
> Human civilization is going through the early iron age. As a general rule, societies are either Feudal or Tribal in nature. Most technology and equipment is primitive, though ancient, hidden, and perilous Pecuniae ruins are scattered across the wastes. Anyone who is able to brave their dangers can discover unimaginable treasures and priceless artifacts of ancient times.
> This setting is low-magic, and all Nonhuman intelligent races are dangerous monsters. ((No Elves, Dwarves, etc, but monstrous races like savage Orcs, Gnolls, and Dragons are acceptable.)) Magic-users are extremely rare, but the mysterious forces they wield are frighteningly powerful. Wizards are both feared and revered in equal measure by ordinary folk.
>MIGHTY
>THEWS
The kings of Urgarth claim to be the surviving ruling class of Pecuniae. They try to advance humankind by force, yet they have no real evidences for their claim and are despised by other people. They regularly hunt for slaves.

All Sorcery is what we would consider "Support" magic. Healing, Empowering, immortality, etc. Fireballs, Undead Armies, and other suck magicks are unheard of. It is impossible for Sorcery to bring back the dead, though impossibly rare magical relics may be able to do so.

This week's Monday Meeting Notes:

>Question
What is the weirdest place you or your players have visited in game?
>>50838284
>Not dealing with defense can make up for lack of Vigor.
I dunno. There are plenty of critters who can get defence against firearms.
If you want to be certain about damage, grappling + Vigor is the way to go.
Got the White Wolf newsletter. It promotes the upcoming Berlin LARP and an "Earplay" audio game and no tabletop stuff whatsoever despite OPP releasing stuff all the time so welp
>>50838744
Cut Berlin some slack man, they're going through a rough patch right now
How does a non Force Sensitive PC beat a Jedi/Sith?
They can't block traditional bullets, right?
>>50832539
>Traditional bullets
>>50832539
slug throwers, put them against non plot relevant jedi (who die in droves to the likes of grevious) make them be actually cunning, disable the pre cognitive shit, generally don't play jedi like they do in the movies, which revolves around THE most powerful users.
>>50832539
A scattergun or a flamethrower, assuming you must do it with a gun rather than just blowing them up. Traditional bullets will get lightsaber'd.
Even then that won't get all of them, Vader can catch blaster shots in mid-air using nothing but the Force, but it's a good bet for anyone that isn't Vader-stronk.
Imagine this.
>WotC holds a contest where you can send in a card idea and they'll put it in their new expansion
What card would you send in?
>>50827570
Here's another one with almost the same effect
>>50827570
>>50827570
Just out of interest where exactly do you see these cards seeing play? Nigga, if I'm paying ten mana for a creature AND saccing some shit for it or taking a bolt to the face I want that to be winning the game, I do not want to get a potential 1 for 3 if they decide to do whatever your custom sets equivalent of Cryptic Command or Kolaghans Command is.

Why haven't they flesh out akavir yet? And how would /tg think it's landscape is like?
>>50822554
Should they flesh it out? Bethesda can't, evidently, even handle Tamriel as is. Not to mention we don't really know where it stands in the wider concept. And by that I mean all the metaphysical angles.
I'd rather have it be a mystery. Future. Unknown. Yet have something dank flow out every now and then.

hey /tg/. I use props in my game, and I've got a mess of them done as a series of semi-cursed creepy items found in an alchemy kit. I've got most of them done (Crystalized children's tears, protective talisman, eldritch focus, etc), but I have this weird blob of once-molten copper and I have no idea what to do with it. Can you think of or suggest something?
>>50859028
can you recast it?
can you engrave?
if not then it's clearly the misshapen congealed remains of the core of a fire-elemental
>>50859069
Was going to say something similar but you beat me to it.
It could also be the phylactery of a lich slime.

An attempt at creating a philosopher's stone, gone horribly awry and corrupted. While it's does seem to extend life and youth there are certain... side effects. Effects that caused the previous users to choose the death they so long tried to escape.

How dangerous are dragons in your campaign? Are they only mindless beasts that ravage cities or do your dragons have a bit of, for lack of a better word, humanity to them?

Okay, now it's obvious you're just trolling with these OP pics. Foxposting was at least tangentially related to discussion.
What is the most reasonable Molthune character thus far? Makes the most sense as a knight and best village plan?
Kitsune is worst, but who is best?
>>50857394
They're Russian merchants. You've got Nikolais, Fyodors, Mishas, Sashas, etc., and they're all either merchants, mercenaries, or even prostitutes (but that's because all dragons are shapeshifters as well, and they turn into dragon kemonomimi)
Literally, they have an addiction to GOOD DEALS and TRADING. One of my players is playing a dragon who decided they didn't like GOOD DEALS and instead wanted to become a knight.
Also, dropping this off because it didn't get any response last thread- Unchained Medium 2.0, Electric Balor. Comments are enabled. Read over it.

I need historical-ish character art, preferably viking styled.
Plan is as follows.
>A bunch of vikings and saxons were rescued by Valkyries to carve out a foothold in a new world
>Almost Dwarf Fortress styled base building and exploration ensues
>Other gods/pantheons begin making rival strongholds
>The native elves take offense
>Monsters attack
>FUN ensues
>Players are Fates, the heroic spirit that allows one to reach greatness
>When they get killed, the Fate finds a new host
>Player starts back to level 1 (homebrew system) and party returns their gear
>But they're now someone else from the stronghold
>They have to randomly pick a new character image and a random new name and continue the adventure
But, so much as I would love to have them all be stuck with pictures of cute girls, I need some men in there as well. So can you guys help me round out my collection? I'll try to post what I have, but it is Christmas Eve and all
>>50856713
>>50856730
Other cultures of the same time period are cool too
>>50856742
Because I'm feeling generous and several fa/tg/uys expressed an interest in the setting, I'm gonna storytime Masamune Shirow's Orion (one of his best and most underrated works), in high resolution.
keep the thread bumped if you wanna see it through.
>>50856452
>>50856465
You'll see, it's basically Shirow's attempt to combine Jodorowsky's Dune with chinaboo mythology. As such, it's full of metaphysical technobabble that makes very little sense.
It also has a few references to Moebius's works, which you'll be able to pick up if you pay attention.

Where were you when you realised Magnus is actually Father Christmas?
I hope you never posted in a pro Russ thread, because you can bet your ass you're getting nothing but coal.also, to all those who won't be here tomorrow, Merry Christmas to all fa/tg/uys, and to all a good night and fun games.
Happy Sanguinala to you too.
