I've found some material to rip o--I mean inspire design for combat in the age of sail and beforehand. My chief issues right now are in making this work for ship designs from the time period SoS is set in, but I will be attempting an expansion for Age of Sail games.
Shanty of Sail, soon.
Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games.
Call of the Void: Ballad of the Laser Whales is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

This is specifically for SoS, if possible I'd rather like if the people playing as Zells or other maritime-focused characters don't have to wait months to actually be able to use the game.

Sup /tg/, I need some help. My D&D group is going to be running a game next Friday night, and we've made some good progress.
The DM has strongly hinted that this session is going to be the finale. We've been in an undead-heavy campaign for about a year now.
I'm playing a gnoll paladin of Heironeous. The rest of the group is a kobold blaster wizard, a human ranger (who just picked up a bow with splitting on it last session), and a death-touched (paizo splatbook, +1 LA, +charisma human) hexblade/kensai with lots of debuffs.
My build is fighter 2 / cleric 2 / crusader 2 / paladin 2 / fist of Raziel 4 with 129 HP.
It's been hinted from NPCs that the big bad in this setting is some sort of arcane gish, with cues at swordplay and illusion magic. Probably something like sorcerer/fighter/eldritch knight. I looked up the vampire lord template and it's insane. I'm not sure how to beat that.
So /tg/, how do I cheese out and kill a vampire lord? I'm scared that the DM is going to kill off my gnoll in the last session because he doesn't like that I'm playing my fursona ><

So i was playing magic.the gathering with an elf swarm and attacked with 4 2/2. He was at 6 life and blocked one with a 2/2 with a skullclamp equipped and a grave pact out. Rules nazies dose the grave pact trigger before or during the player taking damage

We're taking a look at Masamune Shirow's comedic sci-fi fantasy space opera epic: Orion
THE STORY SO FAR:
Everyone fucked up: Seska is trying to find the red seal scrolls to fulfill her (now resurrected) father's dying wish of restraining the god of destruction, Susano, whom he had originally summoned to destroy the karma-swallowing dharmaquation he stole from Dr. Hebime. Meanwhile Susano and Seska's dad are in the Imperial palace, retreating after failing to eliminate princess Kushinata, the demigoddess whose sacrifice will trigger the nine-headed super-naga who will devour all bad karma in the galaxy. He is currently fighting the Eight Wizards from Hell, now under the command of Dr. Hebime, which were summoned by Seska with the nine-headed super-naga dharmaquation (which has been encrypted into her) to stop him. But little does she know that the equation has been written wrong and will actually multiply the evil it swallows and manifest as a malevolent dragon that will destroy the universe if she isn't stopped.
