You don't necessarily have to go full starving artist mode to write a book, anon. There are plenty of authors who work regular jobs and manage to write prolifically as well. You don't have to choose between security and your passion; you can strike a balance.
Of course, if you only want to be a writer because you lack the skillset to do anything else, your time might be better spent doing some sort of job training.
