The soft sea breeze whips at your golden locks as you stand upon the docks. Cinching your over-sized crimson coat tighter about the shoulders, the rustling of coarse fabric contrasts with the squawking seagulls that are a veritable source of noise pollution in this small port town.

Despite your efforts to stay warm, a shiver travels down your spine. Cold winds are rising. Winter, or at least autumn, will soon be upon the shores of Westeros. And all your hopes for some sort of . . . salvation, lay half a world away in the hands of a man who managed to get himself wrapped around the finger of that red shei –

You startle at a revelation brought about by a causal glance to your left.

“Ahh, fuckin' hell!” you curse. You adopt a more dignified posture once more after the initial fright passes. “Scared the shit outta me.”

She stands there, garbed in fire. Truth be told, you first noticed her presence by the sudden onset of warmth heating your left side ever so slightly. Heat emanates off her at all times, like she's a brazier filled with burning hot coals. It's disturbing and unnatural.

“The Lord of Light grants us an auspicious omen on this day,” Melisandre whispers conspiratorially in your ear. Your eyes flick up to that red comet barreling through the sky, bright and clear to anyone with working eyes. Some men pray and avoid looking directly at it when they notice its presence. Others pray and thank R'hllor for its mere existence. Regardless, there's always a lot of fuckin' praying involved with that comet here on Dragonstone.

“Perhaps if he could grant us a victory in the field instead?” you pose the idea to her bitterly. News of another loss at Riverrun has not been improving the King's mood.

“King Stannis has yet to truly take the field.”

“King Stannis has three thousand men,” you retort.

“No matter,” Melisandre ignores your concerns with the certainty of religious prophecy. “King Stannis triumphs over his enemies. I have seen as such in the flames.”

“Well, why are you here?” you turn to face her fully now. As far as you are aware you were ordered to receive Davos and his . . . passengers, alone.

“With the Onion Knight's return comes a sign from the one true God. Despite that man's reluctance to let go of his old faith, it seems he is blessed by the God of Flame and Shadow.”

“So, what?” you ask rounding on the red priestess. “You're here to greet them too? You realize a Kingsguard is made up of seven knights anointed in the oils of the Seven.”

“I thought the King's brother entitled them the 'Rainbow Guard',” she points out humorously.

You shake your head. What a stupid fuckin' name. “It's still the same thing. These men follow the Seven. Not R'hllor. Perhaps it would be best if you weren't the first person they met, stepping off onto these dreary shores.”

Melisandre brings her hands together and chuckles. “Do not worry, Mannis. I do not desire to sabotage your duties. I simply seek your counsel with regards to a . . . hypothetical.”

“Suppose thousands more do not have to die,” she begins. “If this war could be ended with the taking of a single life. Perhaps two at the most. Who do you believe should die?”

There's also a little blood on it, at least you think so. Its hard to tell when your light source is flickering about like that. The name on it says "Dan." Your brain is still a little fuzzy.

As hastily as they sank into the abyss, they emerge from it at the same time. With a blink of an eye, they look at each other, everything normal. However, something has changed.

Jack Chitin
"Velvet... your face..."

Velvet touches her forehead, noticing that the Pantocrator's symbol has been sliced into her forehead but no blood has been spilled. She notices that her fluffy bangs are missing, she instinctively tries to cover the hair she cut in the berserk state. However, Jack grabs her arm. She raises her head and their eyes meet.

"Velvet... you have such a beautiful face, such beautiful eyes...", he said in awe

Velvet blushes and lets out a coy smile.

"You r-really think so, J-Jack?", she said in a quiet and shy tone

"Oh sweet Velvet..."

He embraces her and hugs her tight. Velvet's lets out satisfied and relieved sigh. She notices something poked her chest.

"Jack... y-you changed a-as well!", she said in a curious tone

Jack looks at his body. The demon eyes have been replaced with a singular eye, but instead of a pupil, the eye is filled with ever moving blood. A mysterious skull is embedded in his chest as well. Jack touches his forehead, noticing the markings.

Jack Chitin
"Velvet, what does this mean?"

Velvet
"I... h-have no idea, Jack...", she said in both comic and confused tone

Jack looks at Velvet in awe, his heart racing like never before. She notices it and blushes, looking towards the ground. As Jack tries to pet her head, he notices a scarlet red string tied to this thumb, he traces the other end towards Velvet's pinky finger. Jack starts waving his arm in a comic way, observing how the strings stretches and contracts.

"J-Jack?", she said in a quiet chuckle

Jack Chitin
"No seriously, look at your finger."

Velvet extends her palm and notices the strings tied to her pinky finger, looking at it in confusion and curiosity.

Jack Chitin
"It's high time we finally start figuring these powers out...", he said with a chuckle as well

Jack looks over Velvet's shoulder and points at the two mysterious objects in the distance.

After capturing Runan you call for an orderly takeover with no looting or harassing to occur. Those who would break the law would face the full force of the law. The captured Du Ji is put on administrative duties and Lu Qian is given a small minor rank as part of your military forces. Despite having recruited the two to your force, you have some initial hesitation. Past lords have executed their former enemies and their entire families to ensure no rebellion occurs and you wonder if such deeds were done with cause. Will Du Ji rebel in the future?

Your concerns are met with Wang Yi who gives you advice that might be iniquitous.

“If you are concerned with Du Ji's loyalties, then allow my family to keep an eye on Du Ji's family at all times. I will command my family to make friends with Du Ji's to see they do not misbehave. Commit secure guards around Runan as well and make sure Du Ji will not rebel in fear of his family's fortune.”

You somehow hear a knocking at your door whilst in the midst of your evening shower. Who in their right mind would disturb you during your sacred ritual? You lather, rinse, lather again for good measure, then lavish your body in a spray of water before twisting the faucet off and grabbing your towel. Not in the best interest to impress, you walk up towards the door wrapped in nothing but your towel and peep through the little eye hole.

Although the strangely monochrome scene catches you aback, the strange figure appears to be as eerie as you would expect.

Before you get to think about anything, a groan and ragged voice speaks through the door, "my oh my, is there anyone home who could grant me shelter 'efore the dusk?"
