In ages past men lived simpler lives - they would hunt, farm, fight and always respect the might of the Old Gods. Shamans led the clans with their elemental magic - so it was for many generations, before history was ever written down. The great hero Rog united a dozen human clans into a tribe that would form the foundation of our future Kingdom. One day Rog mysteriously vanished - then came the Great Storm - when it passed, the shamans could no longer feel the presence of the Gods and had lost the source of their magic.
Our civilization would have to progress on its own and so for generations we worked the lands, expanded in numbers and territory. We adopted goblin miners, fought dragons and welcomed a demonic warband. Adventures were had, technology progressed as we explored more and more of the world, largely adopting the faith of the New Gods of the Pantheon.
In the last year and a half a terrible war ravaged the land. Dark elves, dragons, orcs, centaurs, ogres, norsemen and demons sought to bring about the end of the mighty Kingdom of Paitras. Roggar's King and his closest friends were seduced by a dark elf witch into pledging their aid for the Horde. As the Legions of Paitras fought to protect the Duchy of Kulargar from invasions, a civil war raged within Roggar between supporters of Paitras and supporters of the Horde. Battles, betrayals and struggles culminated in the Siege of Nayte, the center of secular science in Roggar and home to our demon community. Outnumbered and outmatched by the enemy, the defenders of Nayte set off a powerful magical explosion that wiped both the city and the attackers off the face of the Earth, leaving only a large crater.
In the east, the Horde crushed the power of the mighty Paitran Kingdom, which splintered off into multiple smaller states, while the various races of the Horde also took their own paths, some returning to their traditional homelands, others setting themselves up as rulers over the humans.
In the Nayte Crater we accidentally opened a portal to Hell, which we managed to destroy by flooding the crater.
After the Second Horde War the Norsemen were united into an Empire and we've been fighting them ever since. We've had both victories and losses, with the Ice Dragons being a mighty asset to the norsemen.
We've expanded eastwards into two former provinces of Paitras, but in the most recent years that Kingdom has been reborn under the ruler of Ezgielath, Verigal.
Most recently, the still-independant Duchy of the Free Mountains was attacked by a force of minotaurs, orcs and centaurs from the south - Paitras and Roggar helped the Freemen fend off the barbarians in 303.

If there's anything I've missed on the map, remind me

You wake up in your small, family home to the sound of goats and chickens. An all too familiar sound to you. But today is the day you become an official adult to the kingdom.

Will you make a difference in life or will you amount to nothing, but before you go making big decisions, here is your first one...what is your gender?

For a moment, there is only darkness. You blink, once, then twice, and you see the old man in the distance. There is still only darkness and no source of light is visible, so you can't help but wonder how you can see the old man so clearly when you can barely see your own fingers.

As if on cue, a light shines from behind you. Yet it is more than light. It is hope, warmth, perhaps something else. It calls you, begs you to approach it and you feel yourself attracted to it.

However, even though he is facing away from you, the man also beckons you closer.

You step away from the light, going towards the man. As you approach him, you notice he is much older than you previously thought, his skin wrinkled beyond measure, his nails dry and cracked, his hair white, thin and in complete disarray.

He turns to you, eyes wide and void, filled with a despair without match. He screams and jumps at you, clawing at your skin, his strength far outmatching that of what somDoctor we're losing him!eone his age should have.

You feel as his shattered nails break your skIf it continues like this they are going to break through, he have to abort!in and blood flows out out like a river. He tears at your chest as you simply look at him, your arms too weak to resist, to even move.

He tears your chest open and He is lost, shut him down, now! tears your very heart out of your chest. The beast that used to be a man licks its lipWe're trying sir, but nothing is working on him!s before sinking their teeth into the pulsating organ.

Let's see if this thing can stop it!

The light shines brighter and envelops you two as the monster delights itself on your body, and you can't help but notice that its warmth feels so very very wrong.

--

You open your eyes.

Around you is what used to be an operation room, but now houses three dead bodies, walls smeared with blood and, near your neck, stuck in the bed you are laying, a fire-axe.

There are remains of a ceiling camera by the corner of the room, shattered glass and mirrors by the floor, a door to the left that leads out of the room where you can see a red warning light blinking, another to the right where a white light at the ceiling flickers. Above you there is a very complex looking machine, with a very large needle pointing right at where your head was resting.

You are wearing nothing but one of those flimsy, paper-thin blue gowns that one wears when they are going to be operated. You do not remember who you are. You do not remember where you are.

>Introduction:

"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." ~ George Bernard Shaw

You... Are just you for now. And in spite of the beers you put away at "The Pao Pao Cafe" just over half an hour ago, you're feeling fired up with a tremendous amount of energy coursing through your body on an overcast, somewhat cool evening in a back-alleyway of South Town. You wipe the blood off of your knuckles and stretch out your hands a little as one of the city's preminant gangsters (Whom you know as a friend) applauds you for beating up a small portion of a gang that's affiliated with his syndicate... Not exactly a typical response; Then again, Kazunori Kazahya has a reputation for not being a typical mob boss.

"What is it about beatin' fuckers half t'death that makes me feel so alive?"

"I have no clue what the hell these guys were thinking, tryig to go after you like that when I told them straight-up that you're a "Friendly" " Kazahaya says as he's squatting down like a slavic ne'er-do-well.

"I'dunno either mate... But were they lookin' after you, or?"

"Yeah, I had to stop in at a liquor store to drain my lizard; Next thing I knew, they were gone out chasing you down the streets like they had pitchforks & torches."

]"Typical Kaz, never lets the reason why he does shit come up unless you prod him half to death... Ah fuck it, let's poke the bear." "Why did you let me fight them then?" you dutifully ask as you bounce on the balls of your feet a bit, trying to keep your energy up.

"Eh... Well, you know you always said you never wanted to fight me..." Kazahaya mentions as he gets up from his squat, shaking out his legs a little bit.

"And you always said that you didn't want to go down in history as being the guy that ruined my face."

"That's right... But I don't know, maybe I was kind of curious if you've really lost your hunger to fight or not?" he admits while getting himself a little "Loose" with a few cricks & creaks coming from the body underneath that pressed Italian suit of his.

"... Well fuck me silly, he really wants to fight for a change." "What, the "Best in the Underworld" actually WANTS to get his hands dirty for once in his life?"

"Maybe, maybe..." is all he says with a sly grin before he pushes up his sunglasses and starts to glow with a faint, golden/orange aura. Then he dashes towards you with the grace of an actor in some period Chinese "Wire-Fu" epic.

>Roll 1d20 to try and match/overpower Kazahaya's strikes! (Only the first 3 rolls will be counted)

Hello again fellow creators and questers. It's been a while since I've had the time to do this, but finally I have a period of time to run another EvoGame series. The goal of this game/quest series is to see how far the evolution of these critters go, and to make a thriving ecosystem of creatures and aberrations.

As GM, I'll do my best to actively work on phylogeny charts to track the evolutions, and also make random events for the world to drive evolution down new paths. Since I've done this a few times now, and taken the time to observe/lurk on other EvoGames, I've picked up a few new tricks to keep everything organized and streamline too.

How to play:
• Open an image of a species in MS Paint, or your editor of choice
• Make one evolutionary change to that species
• Save as .PNG!
• Post your new species in the thread with a description of what evolution you've added and why.
• Details indicating what the generation of your species is important. Please indicate. (Base Organisms are Generation 0)
• Details regarding a creatures size or name aren't necessary, but are encouraged.
• Nothing too outlandish. Anything incredibly silly or outlandish will not be considered a canon species 95% of the time.

Notes:
• Unless stated explicitly, no species ever goes extinct. Old species can still evolve, even if they're not on the latest "chain"
• Try to make your evolutions gradual and realistic in biological standards.
• Everyday I'll add an update Phylogeny Chart to track changes. These take awhile, so please be patient.
• Every 12-24 hours I'll be rolling for a Random World Event.
• As a sort of relief to our past players and new players, this part of the game will NOT experience a mass extinction event.
• Have fun

New to the Game?:
• I know the sheer number of creatures that already exist is pretty daunting, and may make introducing something new feel precarious, but trust me when I say all new organisms will be welcomed with open arms.
• We also have a Discord to keep you up to date on EvoGame stuff, and chat with other folks. https://discord.gg/kk8eJgJ
• Imgur Gallery detailing the history of this EvoGame up until now be found here http://imgur com/a/KI3ku
• In this thread and in the imgur gallery will be a Blank Template that you can use to make any organisms you wish to make for this game.
• Just a note, while it doesn't matter how intertwined your organism is with the rest of ecosystem, the more dependent it is on the existence of other creatures, the more potential your organism has to survive.

The organisms in the picture above are the exisiting organisms as of Early Magnarovic Era. We are now in Mid Magnrovic Era, a period of prosperity and growth for life all around the world. Life now gets bigger, tougher, and weirder.

Here is the most current map of Planet Essari, the home of our EvoGame in the Mid Magnarovic Era. Locations that are named are major regions where an abundance of life has developed in.

As a note to all players, if you want to identify a new area in the world with a name, or have your organisms reside within a specific ecosystem, please by all means do so.

the tails of the Hawlung grow bigger and stronger, allowing them to reach higher speeds in the water. This assists them not only in their ambush hunting but also in their little pilgrimages to find wounded prey when their "feeding" pheromone fills the waters.

an evolutionary offshoot of the Hawlung the Hawpires are smaller and decidedly less violent. Hawpires don't have the jaws of their Hawlung ancestors but instead have a series of hollow tentacles ending in sharp chitinous teeth, which they use to drink the blood of their prey.

to avoid the issue of discovery these tentacles can secrete an anesthetic to dull the pain and, unlike Hawlung, Hawpires don't cling to their prey, but stay close using the skirt-like skin that surrounds their body to keep pace with their drink.

They have grown smaller than Hawlung due to their change in diet, but this also helps them avoid detection.

Call me Ishmael.

Some years ago - never mind how long precisely - a great calamity struck the world. The sky closed and the earth shook and the cities of men crumbled into dust. And all the world was encased in a vast dungeon, and all the people therein, entombed.

No one knows why or how this happened. None are alive now who remember the great cities of man, the pure blue of the summer sky, the feel of real sunlight. These things exist now only in legend, in a space without living memory.

Now men claw and scratch for their daily bread. They pay for their small enclaves of civilization with blood. They fight ceaselessly against the waves of monsters and myth and nightmares made real.

For most, life is a wretched and short existence. But a few find solace and freedom in the maze. And there is power and wealth and secrets beyond imagining if one but braves the dangers to find and take them.

Who am I? Just a wanderer, a seeker of secrets -- the greatest of which is the mystery of my own birth.

This my tale. Welcome to The Megadungeon

Last Thread: >>500552

My wanderings have lead me to the southern wall of the Kaleat Alhadid -- a network of castles separated by a maze of pits and walls. There are rumors that a powerful warlock has taken up residence here. This warlock may know something about my birth.

Thus far I've encountered and attracted the attention of a band of lizardmen, wounding the leader, or Khan, and killing three others.

The Khan and his lizardmen were close to capturing me, but with the help of a demon-possessed prisoner named Omel (whom I freed), the lizardmen were routed. Subsequently Omel turned on me and tried to kill me but somehow (and I'm still not clear how) I was able to convince him to leave me in peace.

After discovering the main keep, I found a map, lost an eye and almost died. I encountered the resident warlock, witnessed an arcane ritual and came close to finding out about my origins--before Omel crashed the party. Now I'm trying to chase after them, though it might already be too late.

Refer to last post:

There is not enough information here to attempt anything. And if the mosaic has taught me anything, its that nothing is to be trusted in this place.

I head for the eastern door. The knob turns easily, but the door is jammed. I launch my shoulder against the door and it bursts open into a cavernous hallway. Parts of the ceiling have collapsed, blocking passage.

>I should explore this hallway
>I should try one of the other doors, clearly the wizard didn't go this way
>I should leave this place entirely

If the door is jammed, the wizard obviously didn't go this way. However, trying all the other doors in the room, I find that, in fact, they are all stuck. Their knobs turn easily but the doors themselves do not budge.

Let's play some D&D 3.5, peeps!

We will create the character, choose the setting and sort out all other details by me stating what is to be chosen next, and the first person to reply (or the first person with a good idea) will have their idea selected.

Default races, classes and spells only, 4d6 drop lowest system, and be only a LITTLE sensible.

So, let's start this off. What setting?

Chapter One: A Town Called Sacrament

The night is silent, interrupted only by the raucous squeaking of the handcart as it rattles slowly down the track. It’s a harsh sound, almost a screech and once upon a time you would have called out for oil to be set out or for new wheels to be set into place. But those were better days and for now, these are all the wheels you have. As for oil? You could have laughed.

Also conspicuously absent tonight are the people you would have called all this out to in the first place. You are alone, bereft of companionship and most importantly, bereft of someone else to pump this bloody cart for you.

You permit yourself a small wheeze as you work the pump in the centre of the trolley and propel it just a little further along the tracks. Long gone are the brilliant silver rails that you had been travelling on just the day before, these new tracks are a dull gray and barely shine at all when your little circle of lamplight in the dark passes over them. The tracks beneath you are periodically tethered to stony plinths elevated from the barren ground and as a result the entire rail is nearly a foot above the ground. Angular runes of safety, compliance and protection have been stamped into every inch of the metal and your suspicions that this is a Third Age line are confirmed.
Not that that means much to you. You’re pretty sure nobody makes them anymore.

The moon is cracked tonight and a dull brownish-red. The stars are out but only in the dozens and the constellations here are new and strange to you. The land around the rail is rough and rocky, stony hills rising and falling in all directions and as far as you can tell, barren. Empty of all life save for moss and lichen and queer pale grass that doesn’t need light to live. You know of none of them but their thriving in the dark tells you that these are inimical plants and not worth eating. You will have to subsist on your rations from the last town for a few days more.

Aside from the little circle of illumination that the candle-lantern hooked to the side of the handcart, all is dark. All is dreary. And when the sun rises none of that will change. You are journeying through the twilight of the world.

It’s enough to make a man morose if he isn’t careful and God knows there’s enough of that already.

It is then however, that the silence, or at least the screeching and rattling that you’d come to accept as silence, is broken. A shrill cry in the distance and...there! Off behind that jagged hill, a spark of light! Not pale light or half-light, honest yellow burning light! But just a spark however and it winks out as quickly as it came. You wait for a moment and hear no more cries.

Surely it is worth investigating. That cry sounded distressed and whoever it was, their light had been woefully brief. Whoever is it out there is no doubt in trouble. But...the spark was far from you, over the hill and most importantly, far from the rail. You’d have to set foot on poisoned earth and invite any number of dangers. And you’ve fallen for these tricks before. Gremlins and imps and other beasts of the dark can mimic human calls. But surely none of them could hold a flame?
Stuck in an ambush away from the rail it could be far too easy for you to die. You have a duty to uphold and you cannot afford to come to harm before it is finished.

>Let the cart stop and wait for another sound or spark. Observe.

>Keep on pumping, it is best for you to simply continue alone.

>Since when are you afraid of the dark? If there’s a person out there, you need to save him.

Ahem! Music please! https://clyp.it/t5hycou3

Let me just begin this story by getting the boring part out of the way:

Hey, guess what, monsters are REAL! Isn't that queer? Isn't that just the most insane thing you've ever heard? Well, normal people might think so, but then again you aren't what one would call normal.

You are a plain, sixteen year old girl named Erin Finch who likes creepy things, and watches violent videos on the internet through parted fingers over her face.

Nobody knows exactly what, but something has happened in the small town of Patina Hill. The area was quarantined and the government claims it to be an outbreak of a virus known as the Mensen Virus, but you know better. After telling everybody on your favorite spooky online community, they asked if you were a girl, and then promptly told you to go out there yourself and post "pics".

Well, they may have just said the part about posting "pics"... Given the subject of the thread you could only assume they wanted you to get pictures of whatever was going on out here.

Popular culture dictates the best person for this job is a naive teenager; so you packed a flashlight, some candles, some tarot cards, your sister's credit card, and set off. After a long ride in a car that smelled like bad breath from a ride-sharing service, you’ve finally arrived at your destination. The place was well fortified except for one hastily constructed area of the parameter on a dirt road, but there seems to be some kind of guard standing outside of the entrance.

“I’m sorry young lady, for your safety you can’t go past,” He states plainly.

"Oh! - Uh. Sorry." You say, then you turn around and begin walking away.

You glance behind you every so often to see if the guard is still watching you. When he turns away, you duck behind some foliage and begin to scout the parameter.

You suppose since you forgot to pack any bolt cutters, your only way into the town is by going over the fence.

>C. Don't do it. It could damage our permanent record and hinder our chances of a good and well maintained college and career!

Is this how making a contract with a demon feels like? Because if that’s all there is to it you might just become a demonologist out of the blue, after all you just have to trade your very dignity in exchange for promises of power, or an opportunity to dabble in something which you might very well have little or no chances of actually winning.

For example, Cassilda has assured you that you’re going to be supplied with what you require to participate in the tournament. She has also pointed out that everything else, however, is up to you, and to please not come beg her for training because it would be absolutely pointless considering you’re going to have what, one day at the very best to prepare.

So she basically just openly admitted that your being part of the tournament is just filling a hole so the number of participants is even because your chances of winning are as close to zero as they can get, since who knows, everyone could die of sudden heart attack overnight or they might all spontaneously decide to just lose on purpose because they’re too scared of being stuck with a giant spider wife.

Clearly these plebeians have terrible taste and deserve to not win their spider wife’s heart, but then there’s this thing where the older soldiers and the officers decided to also put something about pride, competition and nondescript military camaraderie into this tournament, so it’s not just about Tama, but Tama’s more like some kind of exotic excuse to have fun and baptise the tournament grounds.

This plays against you, clearly, for a young and proud cadet would certainly lose face if he were to lose to an unnamed civilian. Moreover, since you’re technically commander of the monster brigade, you have the glaring suspicion that they’re letting you participate so you’re going to show them what you’re made of.

Which is nothing, you have zero combat training and you don’t even know the rules to this tournament.

Now this might sound like a bad situation, but then again you knelt at Cassilda’s feet, licked them and called her “mistress” in order to get yourself there, so it must have some pressing element that absolutely must be worth it. As a matter of fact, you certainly have a plan to capitalize on this.

“Are you okay?”, Bryld asks, waving her hand in front of you. Oh my, you were really lost in your thoughts, you didn’t even realize you had arrived at your headquarters. You didn’t quite recognize them either, what with people going to and fro to build the tournament grounds and Tama digging the largest hole you’ve seen anyone dig.

>”I’m fine, what’s going on here?”.
>”I’m participating in the tournament”.
>”I’m participating in the tournament and I have no idea how to win it”.
>”I’m regretting my life choices”.
>”I have to go speak with the tournament organizers”.
>”Sorry I need to see someone” (Who?).
>Other?

Quest Intro

You are Mikage Chiba, second year high school student, fifteen years old. You used to be the third woman to carry the mantle of the magical guardian of love and justice known as Sailor Moon, after your mother and older sister. A year and a half ago you had a traumatic experience fighting the corpse of the father of your best friend, struggled victory leaving you thinking you had killed the man you had set out to save and prompting you to abandon your heritage. More than that, the relating emotional collapse lead you to abandoning yourself. Developing disguises and personas to inhabit and do the things you could not in secret, to live while you let yourself wither, you carried on.

Now you know the truth and have been taking measures to put yourself back together, reconnect with old friends, and make new ones. More than that you’ve been doing your best to support your younger sister, Koyomi, as she has become the fourth to carry the title as Sailor New Moon.

Quest Start

It doesn’t take long for everyone to get sorted after the meditation session concludes. Tomoe-sensei relaxes the barriers she erected for care of those among the assembled with potential volatile reactions to delving deep within their own powers, yourself included. While in your meditation, you fell deeper than into yourself. Bridged by the taint of the Chaos entity that leads the enemy you and the others face, you are relatively certain across its connection you witnessed a friend of your’s slowly succumbing to its influence.

Perhaps that isn’t right…

While the enemy is a creature of Chaos, that itself was defeated by your mother and her court, it is not truly that being. Much like the other reflections of it faced in your family’s past, this creature likely has its own name. You just don’t know it yet.

Still, its voice haunts you. That it noticed you as you dove into its presence across a distant psychic connection fills you first with worry, and then resolve.

Rising from the circle of those so assembled, you regard them all with brief scrutiny.

Tomoe-sensei stands a bit off to the side, the silence of her power withdrawing and ambient sound returning to your senses as you take stock of Koyomi and the younger girls and boy. Your little sister stretches a bit, likely having drifted off during meditation. Venus-chan kips up, as energetic as ever. Kanari’s hair stands on end, as much as it can while bound by a hair tie in a high ponytail, in a static state. Her brother, Koito, seems much more introspective about things. Rin has this serene aura about her. Aiha seems a bit reserved, likely because she too had a deeper experience like you.

Of the older group present you are immediately met with Keiko beaming both in pride and supernatural warmth. Kairi seems unfettered as she too rises. Midori, to your notice, stares a bit at the item binding her and Jadeite. Sasha carries himself unphased, but perhaps a bit less tense than when he agreed to attempting meditation.

All that truly remains for this gathering is catching the young Sailor Senshi up on the intelligence and information you’ve assembled.

Though, you pause as you notice a slight buzz of energy about your chest. Opening the locket that is decidedly not a transformation brooch, you find that the fissures upon the once fragmented pieces of the Golden Crystal have almost sealed.

As you look up from the gemstone, perhaps not entirely ready to face what that completion would imply, you find yourself staring into your little sister’s eyes from entirely too close.

“Can I see, Mikage-nee!” she says with a certain breaking and jumping of pitch in her voice, an excited energy as she obviously makes her own assumptions putting stars in the corners of her eyes.

You step back in shock, likely exhaling in surprised noise before you regain your proper bearings and resist the urge to pull her cheeks for giving you so unexpected a fright.

“It’s not ready yet,” you scold instead while snapping the casing shut, “And besides, there are other things that need to be explained and shown,”

“True, you mentioned there will be a briefing about what your group uncovered,” Aiha interjects with an eager curiosity.

“Right,” you nod firmly as you beckon for your Knights and Sasha to join you at the front of the room, “I guess we can get things started,”

The girls already know the core details of the enemy, and that they are somehow tied to a remnant of Elysion and follow a misguided path...but you’ve uncovered so much that they don’t know…Where to start?

>The Chaos taint used when the enemies make monsters
>Attempting to clone the once Queen of Elysion to make a Chaos Vessel
>Your infiltration and the dissention in their ranks
>The face you and Koyomi have seen in visions
>The reasons they were trying so hard to kill Keiko, if she’s okay with that
>Kalunite’s musical play and his latest victim
>Your last remaining Knighthood to bequeath…

Oh shit nigger(s) it's a /qst/ civ thing.

5 tribes inhabits a nondescript generic fantasy land: the human barbarians, the orc weeaboos, the treehugging elves, the cave dwelling manlets (goblins, kobolds and imps) who are also weeaboos and the greedy dragons.
Each tribe gets up to 8 players to guide them through the tribal era and hopefully not die while advancing their culture, technology n shit.

Just give yourself a name to identify which tribe you belong to. Ex: "Elf Faggot"

Each tribe gets 2 actions. The first action can be a regular action (ex: scouting), a cultural action (ex: declare pants are gay) or a tech action (ex: sharpen sticks to make spears). The second action is an extra that differs for each tribe. Humans and Orcs gets an extra regular action, Elves and Dragons gets an extra cultural one while manlets get an extra tech.

After consulting with your team members, reply to my post with your turn.

Currently, Turn 47 has started and no recap for each tribe has been made

Well we can always uncover secrets and all that.

We continue to train, harder and harder. The higher-ups have given us a concealed Crossbow, a prototype for us to use, it can fire normal or fire bolts, it does take a few seconds to reload, and the bolts that are shot are very small, however normal bolts are poison tipped which kill a man in 5 minutes. We train our accuracy with it. What shall we do now?

>A. Go look at the job board for any missions
>B. Go around the Base, exploring it
>C. Continue Training (You're in Extremely good physical condition)
>D. Explore the town
>E. Talk with the Templar leaders
>F. Ask people about any jobs
>G. Other
