You stay perfectly still while Wi'aboo walks angrily toward the weapon rack, yelling profanities and extremely specific anatomical tortures that he will perform on Eddie later.

You take advantage of the fact that he hasn't noticed you to sneak back into the door and in the corridor.

With a pinch of luck you can just walk back to the skull opening on top and fly away.

Unfotunately the corridor back to the top of the dojo is blocked by two cultists now.

Cultist 1: "Did you hear that? The master must be furious"

Cultist 2: "Poor Eddie. I always said that his obsession for rocks will be his undoing..."

Ichimaru Gin.

Being around him always made you feel like having a snake slither around your throat.
No matter how sure you were about him not biting you it was always uncomfortable in his presence.
And this time he actually gave you an assignment, one that you couldn't and wouldn't refuse.

You've been planning Aizens assassination for decades now and still you barely made any progress.
Looking down at your foe after beating him into submission was always your preferred method of warfare and useful it may be you always detested killing others with such methods.
There was no honor, no skill and no sense of victory in killing someone from afar or with poison.
They all lacked a certain "personal touch".

But as much as you hated it you still gave it your all.
However planning someone's execution like that requires insight into the targets life.
Aizen always came and went as he pleased and he never stayed for too long.
All in all you barely knew anything about the man or his plans.
This mission might provide some information about Aizens plans and this intrigues you.
After accepting the mission you asked Gin to give you some free time to prepare for your departure.
You walked around Vanaheim for a while and explained the situation to your friends and now you are sitting around the table with your family members.

Harribel stares at you in disbelief.
"What did you just say?"

"The truth."
You replied.
"Aizen is apparently very interested in a high schooler.
As ridiculous as it might be, this task finally gives me a chance to get a closer look at his machinations."

Your grandson puts both his feet onto the table and leans back as he talks.
"This is so typical.
You get to go in school but when I wanted to do that it was always: "No, you'll kill everyone" or something along those lines."

You give Dante a quick glance as you speak.
"You wouldn't believe how many people would kill to be in your position.
And I doubt you'd like it. Too many angsty teens."

After parting ways with all of them you made your way to the laboratory where Yata is doing his usual things.
He peeks over his workstation packed with various chemicals as you enter.

"I assume you know why I'm here."

"Yes, Mila Rose already informed me.
An expedition into the human world? How exciting!"

"Yeah, but I'm not going there for a vacation.
I'll have to do some babysitting and I was hoping you could give me a helping hand."

He waves his finger in the air as he rummages around in a pile of stuff.
"Way ahead of you!"
When he stands up you can see a small white satchel in his hands.
"I went ahead and gathered up a few things that'll most certainly come in handy.
I'm willing to part ways with these highly sophisticated, *cough* experimental *cough* and totally stable items in exchange for one simple thing!"

You groan with annoyance.
"What is it this time?"

"Oh nothing shady, I promise!"
He pulls out a small pill from under his coat.
"Sallow this!"

"THAT'S EASILY THE SHADIEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD!"
You erupt with rage.
"Knowing you that could either cure cancer or make me shit out my organs!"
>>
However before you could continue he slaps you on the head with a rolled up sheet of paper.
"Stop being a wuss and listen to me.
This is nothing more than a simple device used to record information about the living world.
Once in your system this thing will begin transmitting all the data that I need.
With this you won't have to go out of your way to help me with my research."

You look at the average looking pill with doubt clouding your mind.
"And what do I get in exchange?"

"I'm glad you asked!"
With that he opens the satchel he's holding.
"The bag contains several things you'll no doubt find useful!
Firstly are these prototype food pills. Each contains enough nutrients to sustain someone like you for five days.
And the best part is that they let out the condensed reishi over time, so you won't have to eat in that time period but your stomach will feel empty."
He then shows you a piece of folded cloth.
"This is a compact version of the reiatsu eating fabric I developed. With the press of a button it can compress or decompress so it can fit in your palm if needed!"

"These are all useful but nothing out of the ordinary.
Are you trying to scam me here?"

"I simply left the best for last my friend."
He shows you a syringe full of transparent liquid.
"I'll only give you one of these in case of an emergency but even then I'd advise against using it.
This drug will turn whoever gets it into a killing machine.
I created this by cultivating a new strain of Einherjar that work quite differently.
They won't heal the user but instead they override the users adrenal glands so they begin flooding your system with the stuff.
And in addition to that they'll make sure whoever is under their effect won't die due to adrenaline overdose.
So be careful with it, 'kay?"

You catch the satchel as he throws it to you and then swallow the pill in your palm.
With this you made your way to Gin in order to prepare.

After receiving the necessary equipments from Gin for the mission you slipped into your specially made Gigai and ventured forth.
The fabric of space began to wrinkle up and part itself to let you through.
From high up in the sky you look down at the unsuspecting town.

The date is June 15th 2001.

The miniature denreishiki rings in your ear.
"Hello?
Do you copy?"

You press the ring in your ear.
"Yeah, I can hear you Gin."

"Perfect!
Now, let's lay down some ground rules.
First, call me Jester. I'd rather not have my name leaked to anyone listening.
Second, make sure nobody feels even a fraction of your reiatsu or the jig is up!"

"How do I find the school?"

"Just use your pesquísa and you'll see!"

You close your eyes and let out an ultra low wave of reiatsu in order to scan the whole town.
What you feel shocks you so much that you snap open your eyes.
"This is..."

"See? I told you!
Karakura Town is currently on a spiritually enriched plot of land.
This means there are more pluses, hollows AND spiritually aware humans.
The place where you felt all those signals? That's Karakura High.
Now if you'll excuse me I have to take care of some business so I'll be unavailable for an hour or so.
Good hunting!"
With that he hangs up.

But as you are pondering on what to do you think over what you felt.
On one hand you could go to the school but given that you didn't enroll yet you could examine one of two anomalies that you found.
The first was a second group of spiritual pressures that appeared only for a brief moment and then disappeared again within the city bordering Karakura Town.
The second was an absolute void of any sort of reishi somewhere within the industrial district.

What do you do?

Welcome to A Song of Storm Throughout the Centuries: House Deschain Quest. Unlike most A Song of Ice and Fire Quests, this one won't take place (hopefully) in any single point in time. but throughout the course of Westros History starting with the reign of Aegon the Unlikely to the War of Five Kings. During it you will guide both your chart the fortunes of your House and perhaps the Seven Kingdoms.

House Deschain is a premade house located in the middle of Dornish Marches. At the beginning of this quest, an uneasy and unpopular peace has been forced on the Marcher Lords by the deceased King Baelor Targaryen, one championed by Prince Daeron II but also being plotted to be brought to an end by King Aegon IV. You will be starting as Ser Wil Deschain, having just made it to King's Landing with Lord Jon Mallister and his squire Daeron Frey, to sort out inheritance issues relating to our father's and brothers' deaths at sea during the failed invasion of Dorne.

If you’ve played one of the dozens ASoIaF Quests you know the drill. I will be using the Game of Thrones version, as well as a few of the expansions like OOSP and a few house rules which started in other Quests and to be continued with my own eventually. Any questions or concerns on how things are being done, feel free to bring up. This is my first Quest and I'm learning the ropes as well.

Dragon's Gate was the closest entrance to King's Landing, and quite frankly the smell of the other lower class transients did little to bother you. Nightsoil and sweat, in your experience, had the same sent even if they came from a septon rather a vagabond. Besides it was past sundown, and you needed an a place to stable your horses and a roof over your head as well.

“We made it. By the Seven it's huge” Daeron said, eyes darting back and forth over buildings and towers that comprised King's Landing. Plain, uncritical wonder and excitement danced around in his normally dull brown eyes. Not surprising for him, he Curious, while you never had been here yourself, Oldtown kinda of soured you on experience of steeping into a city this big. Ivory creeped up their marble walls, not plain long yellowish weeds like these. And the brown on the sides was paint, not shit. Still the city had it's own beauty and not all of it harsh. In the distance, Baelor's uncompleted sept was nearing completion and it's pale golden dome shone brightly even now.

“Forgive me for prying Ser Wil, but how are your accommodations for tonight? My townhouse has at least a whole quarter all to itself that you and your boy can feel free to use. Least I could do, seeing as I had to break the news to you.” Ser Jon Mallister asked, with polite indifference in his voice. The man was capable of great sympathy and manners, but the man was blunter than your warhammer

>A) Thank you, Daeron let's go

>B.) Thank you, Daeron go with Frey...I need a drink

>C.) Thank you but no, we don't want to try your hospitality

"That's a big fucking station."

Welcome to Space Exploration Quest! You are Martin the Martian, a young unemployed spacefarer galivanting around the galaxy in your ship, the Silverbug.

After joining forces with a pair of bounty hunters, you've managed to solve mysteries, take down a criminal gang, and even install your AI into an experimental robot body. Now your adventures have led you to the suspicious Oort-X14 space station, hidden deep in the Oort Cloud. This is where all your discoveries have been leading to - from the hideous creature that terrorised the Saturn space station through to the devious Interstellar Intelligence & Investigation Agency that continues to hound your every step. Everyone seems to have been trying to stop you from finding this place, but with a little luck and some hard graft you managed to unearth the co-ordinates. Now you're here, the answers to all your questions locked somewhere inside.

The station looms among the asteroids that are constantly moving around it. It's huge - each circular section is the size of a freighter, and you can see the surface is bristling with hangers, windows, and laser turrets. Whoever is inside, they don't want visitors.

You flick on the radio and contact the Hawker, the slim fighter that belongs to Gen and Mitchell, your two bounty hunter allies.

"What do you reckon?" you say. "We don't move soon and they're gonna pick us up on radar - plus the I3A fighters from the Outlier Station are probably going to arrive here too soon. I don't want to take my chances in a shoot out with them."

"Agreed," Gen says. "We should try and bluff our way onto the station."

"Like that'll work," Mitchell snorts. "We either sneak on or go in guns blazing - anything less and we'll be shot outta the sky."

What do you do?

>1. Try to contact the Oort-X14 station. Although it looks foreboding, you can probably talk your way onto it. (Roll 1d20+3)
>2. [Engineering] Try to sneak onto the station by only using manual controls on your ship. Without using the electronics, they shouldn't be able to detect you on radar - although if someone looks out of a window, they'll still see you.
>3. Fly straight towards the station. If they attack, return fire and get in there by force.
>4. [Write In] Something else.

Note: Whereas in previous threads I've used the HQRPG mode of mainly using d6s, for this thread I'm going to try a more D&D-orientated approach of d20s. Ability modifiers have been increased to compensate.

You are Captain SAMANTHA WELLINGS, a newly minted captain of the Centauri Accord!

It was odd not flying in your own ship. Your vacation destination, Palm Isle, was a neutral planet, similar to Earth, where citizens from all three major blocs could come and enjoy themselves. As part of the neutrality deal, weapons and warships from any of the major powers were forbidden from entering the system. Like Earth's SolSec, Palm Isle maintained its own independent defense force.

Right now, you were waiting in a private suite on one of the many charter transports that regularly ferried tourists to the planet. From what you've read from the brochures, most of the landmasses on Palm Isle were large archipelagos, creating a massive amount of available shoreline for recreation. While the majority of the tourists were funneled to the publicly available beaches and islands, there was enough space that individual beach lots and even entire islands could be leased to private parties.

You were currently inbound to one such island, which was leased out for the exclusive use of Accord officers and personnel. However, it was just one short ferry hop away from Palm Isle's largest island and planetary capital, Sunset Bay.

Still, at least the view was great. Your suite had a massive window that gave you a front seat view of the planet. You could see hundreds of little emerald islands against the backdrop of a massive sapphire ocean. Golden beaches ringed each island that made each small landmass look like it was glowing in the sunlight.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we will be landing in thirty minutes." The intercom drones in a calm, prerecorded voice. "Please ensure you have collected all of your personal belongings before disembarking."

Well, you were almost there... what now?

This is less than ideal, you'd been hoping for a servant without a will of its own and that doesn't seem to be what you've created here. Your replica scrambles away from you, rising swiftly to his feet but stumbling as he tries to support his own weight. Forced to support himself on the edge of the counter, he glares at you as though you were the one responsible for his present weakness. In a way you sort of are, but that's hardly the point. Far more important is the question: Do you really look that petulant when you're angry?

It feels strange to quite literally talk to yourself, or at least a shorter version of yourself. “Well, to summarize the last day or so I created you as an experiment to see if I could turn a copy of my body into a mindless golem which could fetch me things and maybe confuse my friends. Instead I got you, and I'm not quite sure what to do with you.”

“Created me?” He ask, or do you ask? You're going to need to figure out something to call this bastard creation of yours. “That's nonsense, I was born a citizen of Rhynia in the two thousand two hundred and sixth year after that great city's founding. To claim that a meager barbarian could possibly hope to create a man such as I is absolutely idiotic, and I would appreciate it if you would refrain from such wild nonsense in the future.”

You have a very bad feeling about this. “Your name wouldn't happen to be Mercurius, would it? Dux of Licae, Centurion in the Imperial Rhynian Army. Specialized in infiltration, sabotage, and urban combat with secondary training as a Vatis.”

Casting about the room, your replica seizes upon a small hammer from your workbench and raises it above his head. The gesture might be threatening in other circumstances. “How do you so much about me, scum?” Wrath drips from every syllable, though he falters as he glances about the room. “And where is it that you've imprisoned me?”

You're really getting tired of this charade. Focusing your will, you're able to manifest a mirror standing just beside you such that your replica, or Mercurius as he prefers to be called, can see himself and easily compare. “I know this about you because I am you. Rather, you are a vestigial remnant of a false memory which until now I've more or less ignored. You were never a real person. I created you an hour ago. I could just as easily destroy you in an instant.”

(1/2)
>>
“The realm you reside in lies within the territory of one of my allies, a spirit of great power whom I've frequently offered aid. In this place, I am as close to a god as any individual mortal is capable of being.” That's not entirely true, you'd probably have more absolute power if you had constructed a palace in the void, but you doubt this version of you, or this glorified Rhynian training program rather, knows that.

Mercurius allows his arm to fall, the hammer coming to rest on the counter as he stares at his reflection in the mirror. With obvious reluctance he places a hand lightly on the curve of his horns, recoiling in horror but a moment later. “I'm a freak.” He mutters, more to himself than to you. “What sort of abominable monster are you, that you would create such a thing as I?”

An incompetent one, apparently. You hadn't really intended this, but nor do you really feel sorry for... yourself? He's not real, he's not even a halfway decent imitation. Which raises the question of just what exactly you're supposed to do with him. You could kill him, but that seems like a bit of a waste. You might also simply leave him here, but to do what? Lounge around and be miserable? That doesn't sound particularly useful.

>Just get rid of him, nobody else needs to know about this.
>At least freak out your friends a little bit, get some use out of the thing.
>Call Fulvia down here, maybe she could help you deal with this situation.
>You suppose those cells in the basement will be getting some use. Lock him away for now.

You're playing as a twenty-two year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

0000 Hours
Aboard the UNSC Pioneer

"Begining preliminary examination."

You lie back aboard the medical table as the machinery surrounding you comes to life in a burst of light and noise. Mechanical appendages lower and beginning poking and prodding into your heavily toned body. A single appendage lowers and plays a bright light on your eye.
You're unable to move. Heavy straps keeping you locked onto a surgical table. The cold of the table beneath you a shocking contrast to your bare torso. An appendage lowers from the ceiling, the sound echoed by numerous other appendages. You twist your head to see the others strapped to a table much like yours. A laser begins to draw incision lines across your skin. Solomon, Keiichi, Jorge, John. You are unable to see who else is in the room with you and your focus is pulled away by an intravenous drip being inserted into your arm by one of the many medical staff. Your senses begin to immediately fade away. Before light, smell, and sound fades completely you hear the familiar voice of Dr. Halsey.

"Begin the Augmentations."

The appendage retracts slightly before it moves to your other eye and plays the same light.

Your world is colored in pain. You feel a sharp object slice into the back of your head. Expertly and precisely removing al material between your brain and the outside world. A brief sensation of air, then pain. Your brain sends messages of excoriating pain to your body. Messages to get up, to run away, to end the pain, to flee. Tiny pinpricks are made and you feel the forceful shifting of your brain matter. The arrangement of what makes you... you. The first of many changes to come. You feel an indescribable sense of pain and the shifting of your eyes. You want to scream. To yell your pain, fury, and agony to the heavens. Your tongue doesn't rise, your mouth doesn't open, no howl emanates from the teenager laid on the table. Nothing. Soon the pain dulls from the feeling of fire in your head to the dull sensation of constant shocks. Relief. Then you feel sharp incisions along your skin. Exposing your bones to the air.

The appendage retracts as the keen coppery taste of blood fills your mouth. You sit up interrupting the appendages and you hang over the side of the table coughing and retching up blood. You hear a rushed movement as a woman's callused, yet surprisingly soft hands push you back and begin to shake you.

"Damien!? Damien!?" She yells and calls to you but you're far, far away. Phantom pain setting your nerves afire, mouth held tightly shut, wishing to scream but unable to. You hear the faint whine and a build up.

"Clear!" The women yells and you feel an immense shock to your body. Dragging you from the depths of pain and anguish and back to the present. Your vision is blurred for a moment before refocusing quickly. You see the concerned look of Dr. Halsey as you sit up.

You are Kusajishi Riku, Captain of the Seireitei's Ninth Division and personal witness to the final moments of Head Captain Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni's long life.

But this is not the time to mourn.

Not long after the Head Captain killed the arrancar Arturo Plateado, even as Captains and Lieutenants gathered around the incinerated site of their battle, a giant stone monolith fell from the sky heralding the arrival of the Royal Special Task Force. These five shinigami are said to possess a combined power that exceeds that of the entire Gotei 13, including the former Head Captain. Of course the same sort of rumor also maintained that the Sōkyoku possessed the power of a million zanpakuto, and after seeing that weapon in action you know that such estimates are often wildly off the mark. As with the execution spear you're not sure that the raw power amounts to what people claim, but each member of the Royal Guard is no doubt at least as powerful as you or Yoruichi and probably expresses that power in bizarre and unpredictable ways.

From the dust emerge five improbable figures, some familiar and some not. One is a giant man with a shaved head and bushy beard, very round in figure but undeniably powerful. A second woman is even larger than this man, with familiar purple hair but an absurd figure that makes you doubt yourself regarding her identity. The third is a slender woman with an ornate costume, and the fourth is a man with the most terrifying pompadour you can claim to have ever seen.

The fifth lets out a surprised whoop when he sees you.

“Good to see you made it through that bullshit in good condition, Miss Tetsushin, Miss Shunshin!” Ōetsu waves jovially, drawing concerned stares from the likes of Byakuya and Komamura. “You miss me? Course you did, otherwise you wouldn't have given us a reason to drop by like this!”

“Believe me, that wasn't our intention, Tōshin,” Yoruichi grumbles mutinously, clearly annoyed at the flippant tone. “Hey, haven't you guys parked that thing in an inconvenient spot?”

“Seems you have a problem, Unohana,” the man with the pompadour frowns, staring at your fellow Captain whose own gaze meets his with a smile.

“It would seem that you do as well, Kirinji,” she replies in that calm voice that somehow triggers all of your survival instincts simultaneously. “You crashed your tower into my headquarters. I trust you're prepared to make amends promptly?”

Several other shinigami around you recognize that tone. Suì Fēng's hand finds Suzumebachi's hilt, while Komamura goes so far as to draw Tenken from its sheath but makes no move to actually attack. He's too angry at the death of his mentor to think clearly right now, so thankfully Shunsui places a hand on the giant Captain's right wrist and shakes his head in silent warning. After that quick glance around the group your eyes fall back on Ōetsu, whose cheesy grin only widens under the force of your scowl.

“Oh, not now,” the rotund woman you can only guess is Hikifune groans. “Why do they always get like... oh my, is that Yoruichi's little Lieutenant!?”

It takes you a moment to realize she's actually talking about you, since that was so long ago Suì Fēng hadn't come into the picture yet. By the time that thought finishes gestating in your mind you've very nearly been scooped up into a bear hug, and only just have time to free Tenkotsuki's blade within her sheath. The pommel cap rests lightly against Hikifune's enormous belly as she halts herself mid-stride, and your eyes meet hers. The smile that was on her face evaporates as she sees that while the gesture was subtle it was also a sincere warning for her to keep her distance.

“Hikifune,” you greet the large, purple-haired woman rather coldly as she takes a step back from you. “It's been a long time, more than a hundred years. Why have you returned now, of all times?”

“I hope that you don't blame us for the loss of two of your comrades,” she offers, her voice taking on an almost hurt tone. “But we have our own duties, you see. Sometimes they conflict with what we'd rather do.”

Just as quietly, you extend your left thumb over Tenkotsuki's guard and slide her blade back into place.

“Sorry,” you apologize with a subtle bow of your head. Not deep enough to break eye contact, but just enough to demonstrate the sincerity of the gesture. “I understand of course. That was more a matter of instinct than of personal judgment.”

“It wasn't the wrong instinct,” Hikifune admits with a sigh. “If you'll excuse me, I forgot to do something before coming here. I'll be along to join you in a few minutes.”

As the enormous purple-haired women turns back towards the fallen tower she arrived in, Yoruichi leans over to whisper behind her hand. “So it's not just me, right? She's put on like a thousand pounds?”

“I wasn't gonna say anything,” you admit in a whisper of your own, “but that IS a whole lot of woman, and not in a sexy sorta way. The hell happened?”

“You've had some of her cooking before, right?” your wife asks. Ah, that explains it. Not even your metabolism could handle three square meals a day of that without you ballooning up into a caricature of the human form.

The one who by process of elimination must be 'the Monk' clears his throat loudly. “We are here to ensure that the Gotei 13 return to combat readiness as swiftly as possible.”

“Had you been here an hour ago,” Komamura growls angrily, “we would have no further need of your 'help' by now! Two of our Captains would not have died!”

“Sajin!” Shunsui snaps, his characteristic calm shattered for an instant before taking a moment to regain his composure. The anguish of having lost both his mentor and closest friend within the span of minutes is clear in his eyes. “Pointing fingers won't bring the dead back to life.”

“What a pain in the ass,” you here Kenpachi grumble nearby. “The geezer went out on his own fuckin' terms, moron. Ain't nobody's fault.”

“The Royal Special Task Force doesn't exist to bail our asses out,” Yoruichi adds, joining the other Captains and resting her hand gently on Shunsui's shoulder. “And doing so would've put their own charge at risk.”

“Exactly right,” Ichibē nods solemnly. “But we will have time to talk later.”

“Since we're talkin' about holdin' some sort of meeting, my Division was spared any real damage,” a familiar voice offers, at once calm and sinister in tone. “I borrowed some furniture from Aizen's office after he ran off, an' I'm keen to finally use it... with the Head Captain's approval, of course.”

Looking to your left, you see that Gin's got a look in his eye that's not at all one of sincerity. Rangiku notices it as well, glancing at you with obvious uncertainty as she recognizes the almost playful malice of a man who's preparing to make life a pain in the ass for someone he feels deserves it. Shunsui can't possibly know what that look means. He'll see it as a thoughtful offer and accept if nobody wiser in the ways of Ichimaru Gin interrupts.

>Second the notion... with the Head Captain's permission of course. Let Gin have his fun.
>Maybe that's a bit much. Meeting at the First Division headquarters is more traditional.
>You have a bone to pick with the Royal Guard. Nothing else happens until that's resolved.

Welcome back, one and all, to Spookquest, where we embark on a journey to achieve our life goal: Successfully become spooky enough to frighten somone.

You play the part of Francis "Frankie" Femur, a New Haunt skeleton with a shitty apartment and only a few hundred spirits in your bank account. On the plus side, at least you're seeing someone now.

Decisions will be made based on the most popular vote. Tied votes will be broken by myself with a dice roll. Occasionally, an event roll will happen to see if anything pops up in Frankie's life. Special events occur for things like trips.

Last time on Spookquest: Frankie helped Professor Oak the dryad make pocket midgets, met fellow D R I V E man Barry, got annoyed at his brother Floyd, went for coffee, forgot why he wanted coffee and left, chatted with Slick at Crash Victim vehicles about cars and tools, bought a mechanic textbook, learned about the Junkrats, and passed out in front of a stunt driver's manager.

You don't exactly recall what you said, but it definitely wasn't anything good, because when you look about, you're in an ambulance. Christ.

You sit up, and the ghostly apparition sat by you chuckles. "Rise and shine, princess." He says through his laughter. Apparently you somehow defied all logic and basic biology to stutter, fart and then pass out in front of Shannon. Why? You're not exactly sure. At least he called an ambulance for you, even though that was a bit much. You doubt that you made a very good impression though.

After some routine examinations at the nearest hospital, you walk out and check the time on your phone. Midnight; you were out for nearly two hours. Another minute or so and it'll be Saturday.

Hello and welcome back to Mortal Kombat Konquest. On today's episode, we'll be following Kung Ling, wayward daughter of Lao, the current grandmaster of the Wu Shi Academy and a high-ranking member of the White Lotus Society. Ling, born of Outworld, is among the minority of Outworlders upon the New Defenders, something she shares with only Cao Kahnzedah and the shokan Sheeva. Though she has made fast friends with the Lin Kuei warrior Frost, she has found difficulty in associating herself into the team at large, not used to working alongside so many different individuals. Amidst these feelings and homesickness, strange vision-like dreams return to her, plaguing her sleep...

A cool breeze washes over the sands as the waves gently roll up onto the beach. Overhead, birds softly call as they fly over the island, nestling among the branches of the tropical trees. In a shaded and hidden section of the forest's edge sit two friends upon simple and comfortable hammocks that hang between two pairs of trees, enjoying the calming vacation-like atmosphere. They gently sway back and forth on their hammocks, enjoying a sweet, cold treat.

Ling gently kicks her feet back as she nestles one hand behind her head, licking at the ice cream cone. "Delicious," she says with a smile, looking over at Frost. "You made this yourself?"

Frost nods. Her mask, long gloves and boots have been removed and lay nearby, her pale skin creating quite the contrast from their shaded surroundings. Ling smirks when she remembers the cryomancer's comments about her 'not tanning well' and preferring the shade. Not that she minded, especially with sweet treats like this to share. "But how? You used your powers?"

"As much as I would like the very combat-useful ability of creating ice cream on the fly, no, I can't just conjure it up. It's a recipe." She holds a cone of her own and licks it, smearing her blue lips before licking them clean. "Of course, I can provide the cold, which helps keep my cone in shape. Yours, on the other hand..."

Ling's eyes are drawn from her friend's chilly hands down to her cone, the contents of which are dripping downwards. A drop falls and lands on her stomach, which she quickly scoops up with a finger so as to not let any of it go to waste. "I suppose your powers do come in handy in unexpected ways," Ling admits. She doubles her efforts to eat the snack, now keenly aware of how little time it will last in this hot weather.

Or, well, not right now, you're not. He just showed up and threw down the giant, clawed gauntlet, but you think you're being lured. Towards a trap or away from something else, you don't know, but you know that most of his digging is happening clear across the combat theatre and he just came all the way over here to harass you and then ran off.

You don't like it.

With you are the Bravely Broken--your squad of four mass-produced Steel Berets. Though only given a C combat rating, you've outfitted them with improved weapons, kit, and ablative armor, hoping to keep them in the fight (and their blood off your hands).

"We still have that comm signal?" you ask.

"Yessir," Susan, their erstwhile leader, replies. "I've got Derby tracking."

"Any odds on getting seismic readings piped in from topside?" You ask Drang, the local German mission control.

"I can try, but don't rely on it," he tells you bluntly. "It will only work as long as we can reach you."

Having opted to track the distress signal of a missing recon team, you put aside directly targeting Sabomole now, and weigh your options. You already dismantled one trap, you don’t doubt there’s more--and you don’t want to leave something nasty at your back.

>Head straight for the distress signal.

You are a collection of parties in the Kingdom of Germany a great and powerful nation in the middle of Europe who is recovering from the brink of civil war. With the realm united and elections on the horizon, things do not seem as hectic as they once were, but there are still a host of problems Germany must face. While Western Europe maintains a practical alliance with you, the Soviet Union has grown colder towards you due to your interference in China and your mobilization of the nation. Peace has managed to hold on thusfar, but time may be running short to challenge the might of the Communist international, as its influence grows from without and within.

Meanwhile, in the Far East, the Japanese make their last stand against the Red bear ramming down their door. Already, much of Transamuria finds itself occupied, with the Japanese moving into the suburbs of the key city of Khabarovsk. The Soviets have mustered up reinfiorcements to defend it, but only time will tell if it will stop. If the city falls, then Vladivostok and Manchuria will be easy prey for Japan. but only time will tell if Japan's gamble pays off.

Terribly sorry for the late update, things have just been piling up a lot faster than I anticipated and I've had less time to work on this.

Forgive me if I don't take immediate advantage of the massive post space here, I don't know if this board warns you when you're gonna go over the character limit in an OP or not.

You are Brianna la Croix, and this is honestly your first friendly or at least non-hostile interaction with a necromancer from outside the family, and you're starting to suspect the other practitioners of your discipline might resent you.

This might complicate things down the line. Son of a bitch.

"Alright, fine," you tell Ash. "Before I launch into this, you do understand that the Rose Cultists up in the Lichyard are a splinter faction of the family, yes?"

"I'm as familiar with your family as my master could make me," Ash agrees, with an amused look. "You did lay down the foundations for modern necromancy, la Croix."

"We've been at this awhile," you agree, modestly. "Then here's my side: I did what I had to do. And I didn't 'tear my way' through /anything/. Out of the Lush's allies I've had conflict with, only five are dead and one of those was one I wanted alive. The Vintner, in the Basement, was a torturing asshole playing god with life and death. Lisa the Seeker in the Lichyard murdered the innocent, stole from the dead, and hunted for a weapon to do that to the entire world. Brigette, in the Athenaeum, she's still /alive/ and doing better every day. The Baron killed himself rather than submit to capture, though if I'm being honest I likely would have killed him anyway. He, too, was a big fan of slavery."

Ash scowls, but doesn't interrupt.

"You're gonna keep this to yourself, but the Traitor's still alive," you tell him. "Which was a bit of a bitch to pull off, considering that she was trying to die, but my lover talked her down and she has the chance to move away from the brink of fucking madness. My enemy in the Roost is still alive and one of my allies now, Jack in the Warehouse was murdered by the Lush's other allies after we saved his damn life - for fuck's sake, we even managed to spare the Daughter, and she thought she was a fucking god!"

Raised elven eyebrows. You take a deep breath.

"The point being, I'm not in love with killing," you tell him. "Where I've gone, I've worked to make peace, to prevent bloodshed, and to leave the Dungeon a better place whenever I possibly could. I brokered an alliance between the Labyrinth Clan and Lakehallow, and between every floor I've gone through and every other floor I've managed to liberate. There's goblins attending school on the surface, for fuck's sake! School! They have handwriting lessons! My sister," you point your thumb to River, "has been spending most of her time getting rid of the zombies that the Moneychanger left in the Lichyard and healing the wounds left from the occupation. The Athenaeum finally has its staff back and has been supporting the other levels with research, planning, and by being a neutral space in which to meet. When we opened up the Roost, we gave the harpies there amnesty on the surface and now quite a few are living there beneath the wild sky, helping to create a new entrance to the Dungeon that'll make sure none of their children ever have to go hungry again, and I did /all of this/ because it seemed like it had to be done."

"Why?" Ash asks. The question is simple, but his eyes are on yours; you feel distinctly judged.

"Maybe my family /are/ holier-than-thou pricks sometimes," you murmur. "And maybe we aren't. But I mean it when I say I have a duty. Being a la Croix, necromancer or not, means helping out. It means not ignoring when people are in pain, in need, when they're lost or confused or misled. Yeah, the Lush has wronged my friends and loved ones, including the angel. But I'm not here just for them. I'm not even here mostly for them. I'm here for the chains of no iron he's put on the innocent. I'm here for the people dying of starvation with full bellies and I'm here to end the horror and the pain, and then I'm going to be here to help pick up the pieces, because you can't just topple the fucking tyrant and then fuck off to your palatial harem. Just because you went and pulled the arrow out doesn't mean the victim is done healing."

Ash pushes his hands further into his coat pockets and straightens the garment from inside them. Your Grandfather used to do the same thing. "What's your arrow here, la Croix? When do you think it's time to start healing?"

"The Lush needs to die," you tell him, simply. "Whatever madness drove him to this, whatever his reasons, he's gone beyond the pale. There are going to be too many angry ghosts left behind if I give him anything but the judgement of the gods. The people that have been hurting the angel, they die too. What has been done to her is unforgivable, and those who abused her bear her mark, a sign etched in death that identifies them - which is where I get to 'Lora's not like that' from earlier, by the by."

Ash blinks, slowly, like a cat. "...I've felt this mark," he admits.

You nod. "The Lush's demons must die as well, because they know the secret to making the giant's Drink, and I'm not going down in history as the idiot that let that knowledge spread. Then, only then, can the Cornucopia start to heal."

The elven necromancer sighs and turns his scarred face to look back at the revenants again, before looking to you. "...Let's say I turn my living forces over to you and ask the revenants to follow you for the time being so I can go try to talk my master down," he proposes. "What's your plan?"

> The harpies are going to evacuate soon. I want the civilians ready to do the same so the Lush can't use them for leverage
> I'm going to hit the Seedhouse. The Cornucopia needs those, desperately, to be able to get on with its life. I don't want to risk the Lush burning it out of spite and leaving the Roost's floors without food while we get it restocked
> I was actually going to ask your advice on that. I've gotten told about a few important areas down here but I already encountered one I haven't heard about. What would /you/ hit with a zombie army?

We managed to recruit the legendary necromancer(for now), Joy manages to continue delaying the big bad skeleton, and Marty dropped the mother of all bombs.

Meanwhile the tek bandits go crazy trying to find somebody. Skeller's forces slowly continue their approach. While the warlord and JAL try to figure out where the hell all those sneaky mutating robot ninja pirates went.

Welcome to the post apocalypse enjoy your likely short lived stay and remember the dead walk, the gods laugh, and dreams became nightmare. Hell is vacation.
