You wake up in your apartment on the 13th floor of the highrise in Times Square. You scratch your balls and get your slipper from under the bed as you get up.

You are Harambe, the infamous ape assassin specializing in high-profile, high-risk jobs on the international level. You were there when Saddam was captured, when they killed Gadaffi and when Osama was flushed out. And that kid was there when they killed you.

You were lucky you survived. You wouldn't if there weren't for your...

A) Neuropozyne dependency. You have several mechanical parts installed to you. To maintain them you have to take neruopozyne in large quantities which made you almost unaffected by poisons. Like the one they shot you with.

B) As a young gorilla you were part of a theater troupe and you have been taught by the resident magician and illusionist, serving as his helper. You faked your own death and got out of there in a puff of smoke.

C) You saved yourself with some field medicine you learned to do in the French Foreign Language. You removed the projectile and cursed softly in French.

First answer continues.

You take a sip of whisky from the night before and look at the stained mahogany table near your bed. Your gun and smoke bombs are still on it. As well as the cocaine and your platinum american express. You had to celebrate your first night out, right?

You turn on the TV and the major scoop is:

A) Terrorist attack down town in Minneola, Kansas

B) The IRA has finally managed to wrest Northern Ireland from British control.

C) The Treasures of the last Inca Emperor have been unearthed in Peru and disappeared overnight.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

To say that the last few hours had been more tense than you would have liked was an understatement.

Just after you had arrived back at your hut, alarms around the base began to wail. You and the rest of Freelancer flight had bolted straight to your jets and scrambled into the air, thundering into the sky as fast as your birds could have carried you. However it was all for naught as you were recalled back to base as the situation became clear.

What was originally believed to be a full flight of incoming TU-95 Bears had turned out to be just a single one, apparently there had been a miscommunication between the radar controllers and the base command staff. So the entire scramble was for nothing. You landed along with everybody else as a pair of IJN F-4EJs were vectored to intercept the Soviet aircraft.

You found it hard to get to sleep that night, you didn't know if it was because adrenaline was still pumping through your veins from the scramble, the reconnaissance flight, or because you were just worried about your sister being on what could soon turn out to be the front lines in a possible war. Either way, you had to get up and walk around the base for about a quarter of an hour, the cold and crisp night air soothed your spirits and allowed you to drift to sleep.

You woke up and went through the monotone routine of a military morning. Wake up, clean up, get breakfast, go to the hanger and get ready for flight ops. Your patrol flight had to be delayed due to some slight software problems, but you took to the skies soon enough, patrolling the northern coast of the Japanese home islands.

"Flight 23, this is Stink-eye. How copy?" Your radio cracked into life as you were contacted by one of the AWACs units that helped bolster the Japanese radar network.

"Flight 23 copies Stink-eye. Send traffic." You radioed back as you looked out over your right wing. Scorpion was flying just off your wing while The Brits and the French flew about 250 feet off your wing, taking their flight directions off you.

"We have radar contact on approach from the North-West. Looks like another Bear probing our radar net." The AWACS controller informed you from his bird's position a few miles to your south. "Sending position data to you. intercept it and escort it out of our airspace."

You clicked your mic twice in a wordless response as you pondered how to approach the situation.

>Head up and intercept it with the whole flight. They will probably turn around faster if they have a whole flight of 'cats on their asses.

Well, here you are. 'The Barrow of Ahrin the Pontifex'. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence does it? But bandits have taken up residence here and your company has been hired to take them out. Risky work for only the three of you, but the pay is good. And, there's the prospect of whatever else you can find in the old priest's tomb. Pontifexes weren't known to be the charitable type Better for you.

I'll take that bait.

You are the leader of a small mercenary band in a war torn land.

The king of the land died twenty years ago, leaving no heir for his throne. Since then the local lords have been fighting each other to increase their influence.

Time is hard for the peasants, the clergy, and even the nobles. But for the mercenary, there has never been a better time or place for business.

Before we start, what's the name of our group of mercenaries?

This will be a long running Medieval Europe Risk Game. It is going to be a bit different in that there will be a Mupdate once there have been 12 moves.

The on map rules stay the same in terms of rolls and gameplay with these exceptions, amendments, and add ons:

>rolling against unoccupied factions roll against the last mupdate post

>open ended rolls get an automatic -5T
This may seem complicated but it is not; the roller calls his Ts specifically. If he rolls at or above the amount, he gets his called Ts, and his spill is wasted or applied creatively by OP.

>no rules about turn order or repeat rolls
you heard me right. so if you want to campaign against X faction, you can. if some dork wants to spawn camp the thread and wipe out Bohemia by rolling 12 times in a row, there is nothing in the rules to stop him. coordinating with allies and enemies means (hopefully) a decrease in open ended conflict. This is a new way to play, and i will be playing too at first to show peeps what i mean, but i think y'all -dus will get it pretty quick and see the potential

>1 paragraph of Role Play required per movement roll OR complete explanation of campaign, reasoning, intentions, and battle formations + 3 following rolls.
I will show y'all how to do this one. again, once you see it, it should be fairly simple.

This is a beta test for the Great Risk Project.

I wish to claim a position in the Danish Faction.

I submit to the Danish Council that i be given 2000 foot soldiers and 700 horse to impress upon the rebellious Swedes the importance of obedience. This campaign will last until we have secured 5 new Territories for the glory and safety of Denmark. Should any other nation attempt to stay our hand or counter or offensive, we propose that a declaration of war be made as well as the granting of 2 more Territories to the allotment for a total of 7 Territories.

Though we have been repulsed, we will strike again! We ask for the council's favor on the matter and for an additional 500 troops and 70 horse. May god grant us victory!!!

OoC: Dice will be used in the Mupdate as well as rolls

You can’t shake how creepy this girl is. You can’t quite put your finger on it, but something about it weirds you out. The amount of teeth she’s showing almost reminds you of a shark baring its teeth. She’s definitely suspicious, and you wonder if she’s got the same idea about you. Office workers swarm around the lobby of the building, but she hasn’t greeted anyone else, preferring to keep her vision locked on you and your group of magical girls. You can’t help but notice how you stick out like a sore thumb here. You step back slightly, but Josie and Erika refuse to yield to the creepy lady. You tug on Josie’s sleeve, urging her to follow you back and stop staring the woman down.

“No we just got lost, hehe. We’ll be going now.” You tug harder on Josie’s sleeve, you would be dragging her with you if she wasn’t so damn heavy. After a few seconds, she finally relents, and goes with you. The high pitched, almost squeaky voice of the receptionist stops you in your tracks.

“Where were you girls going? Need help getting there? This part of town doesn’t attract many tourists.” Uh oh. Has she caught on? Is the jig up? You turn to face her in prepare a response, only to find that Diane has beat you to the punch. Her voice takes on a more refined tone as she speaks. She turns her nose up at the receptionist, not making eye contact with the taller girl. It looks like there’s a use for snobbish nastiness after all.

“We have no obligation to tell nosy little people like you. Now are you quite done wasting our time? We’re important people, and I don’t like being late. Athena?” Diane turns away from her and walks out, herding the team out of the building without another word. The office men part for her, apparently instinctively recognizing her importance, even if it was just a mask. Once you’re out of the building and a comfortably distance from the building you huddle your team in close, eyes open for any potential eavesdroppers.

“What’re we gonna do boss? If that place really is full of Salvtore goons then maybe we should be a bit sneaky, right?”

You rub your chin, in thought. There are a couple potential was you could handle this.

[x] “Let’s look for a fire escape, avoid the people on the lower floors.”
[x] “Let’s see if the Bureau’s got any gadgets that’ll help us out. Their stuff’s usually more subtle than the Hexenkraft’s gear.”

>QM Question
What do you think is your strength as a writer/QM and what is your weakness?

>Player Question
Does you prefer chargen or established QMCs in the beginning of your quests? Why so?

>Bonus Question
How often has reading/writing your quest pushed you to look something up and/or learn something outside of your skillset?

PSA: Due to the nature of the 3 day autosage it might be preferable when using the catalog to switch the [Sort By:] option to [Last Reply]. That way you'll still see active quests at the top even if they are autosaging.

Strength?
None.
Weakness?
Autistic need for details and over description with a lack of meaningful description. Also a slow writer
If I don't explain what that donkey looks like in 300 words or less I'll kill myself

>Does you prefer chargen or established QMCs in the beginning of your quests? Why so?
I prefer "established" in the sense that they have likes, dislikes, skills, a past etc etc buy to the point where it can lead to further character development

I also hate characters who are more or less 100% pragmatic. It gets boring although that'd probably be on the players more than the QM

”Sometimes, good men must sell their lives – after all, a scoundrel cannot be expected to offer theirs.” – Anton Sokolov, speaking on the virtues of sacrifice.

In the aftermath of violent acts, bloodshed and conflict and strife, words become meaningless. For those first few moments, there is only silence and stillness, without any of the gathered crowd daring to be the first to raise his voice.

With scattered flakes of red-tinted snow carried upon it, clinging to whatever carpets and tapestries they touch, the cold wind creeps through the shattered doorway. Whatever illusion of protection it had once offered is lost now, torn down by the monstrous, deformed child in its attack, and trampled underfoot in its retreat. No, not its retreat – the word implies defeat, disgrace – but its victorious withdrawal. Having spread chaos and dismay among the men, and taken Captain Bach as a trophy, the child had returned to whatever pit it calls home.

And finally, the silence is broken.

“The Wehrlain Engine is intact and unharmed, functionality unhindered,” Wehrlain announces to the world, his voice trembling faintly with the effort of staying calm, “I suggest we return to our initial aim of searching-”

He doesn't get the chance to finish that sentence, his words choked off as you step close and grab is fur collar. Holding him tightly for a moment, it is only with a great deal of effort that you stop yourself from throwing him back into that damn machine of his. No matter how satisfying it might be, you know better than that. Taking your hands from Wehrlain's collar, you turn away from him in disgust. Even without looking, you can sense him trembling with rage. You're not the only one who can feel the bitter mood, for Lars steps forwards.

“A moment, Master Wehrlain, just one moment,” he pleads, taking you by the arm and futilely trying to drag you away. Resisting him for a moment, just long enough to make him nervous, you let him lead you aside. “I know how this is going to sound, but he has a point. The chances of Captain Bach still being alive-”

Are not yet zero, you interrupt, he still has time – less and less with every moment you waste here.

“Be that as it may, we have an opportunity here – a chance to finish our research while that thing is away... distracted. I don't like it much, I won't pretend that I do, but we have to be pragmatic. We can get back home without the captain, if that's what you were worried about. In either case... do you even have some way of surviving out there?” Lars pauses, glancing meaningfully across at your travelling case and the witch's idol that lies within. It was with you, silent and protective, when you boarded the Polaris, and you have faith that it'll do its job again... probably.

“All I'm trying to say is that you'll be alone out there, and that thing...” Lars shudders, after the pause, “Nothing we hit it with made it so much as flinch.”

“Ain't quite the case,” an uncouth sailor, shamelessly eavesdropping, butts in, “The damn monster shrugged off buckshot like it was spring rain, can't argue that point, but one of the boys drew blood with his harpoon. Drove it back a step, even. You gut the thing, I wager it won't be fit to cause any more trouble.”

Enough, you tell them both, you've made up your mind. You know what you must do.

Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkworld creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.

They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.

For many years, Dark Gate Academy has held back the forces of the Darkworld, kept this unspeakable evil contained within their walls. But a dark cloud approaches, and times are about to change. A new chapter in the tale of Dark Gate Academy is about to begin.

“Looks like Summer's officially over.”

Io stares out onto the rainy pavement, the thunderstorm outside growing louder and louder, before turning to face you on the couch. You haven't said anything since you sat down, as Io looks on at you with concern.

“How's your hand?” she asks.

You look down at the white bandages covering your wrists, a rather bloody injury you received during your fight with The Stranger. Still, you got off light compared to some of the others. Gado is still unconscious after a rather nasty blow from the demon, and Mayu... you stabbed her. In a delirious state, you almost killed her with your own hands. She came to help you and you... you failed. After leaving the darkworld, the unconscious bodies of Mayu, Gado and that Ryoji guy were all dumped in the nurses office. You got your own sliced wrist stitched up, but you didn't stick around to check on any of them. You just fled back to the dorms. Like a coward.

Io sighs as she realises you aren't going to talk. “You know, you scared the heck out of me. I knew the missions you went on were dangerous, but... the sight of you bleeding from the arm, and Gado and Mayu looking just about dead... I wasn't expecting it.”

You say nothing, continuing to look down.

“And then when I find out what happened to Mayu...”

You continue to remain silent, simply staring at the blue orb as you hold it up between your fingers.

“I worry about you Kaz... I really do. In more ways than one.”

Again, no answer from you.

“You can play the cool silent type all you like,” Io smirks. “I know you're just itching for someone to talk to, maybe open up a little about all those feelings running around in your head? Kiriko's taking care of Mayu, Kuin's with her guard dog, and Risa and Tami are trying hard to keep Sae all-together. By process of elimination, I think that someone should be me. How about it, Kaz?”

Nothing.

“Hmm... a little reluctant to have a chat with auntie Io, huh? You know what I like about you, Kaz? You're headstrong. Never afraid to challenge anyone. You were the first in the entire class to really challenge me. But sometimes, headstrong can just be another word for stubborn. You can't just bottle up your emotions like this. My parents used to do that all the time, and they-”

“Do you ever shut up?” you ask.

Io is taken aback by your sudden remark, and you're surprised yourself. You didn't mean to sound like a rude ass, but you've undoubtedly been on edge these last few hours. You don't really appreciate Io's attempts to pry into your mental state.

Io sports a shocked expression, biting her lip with hesitation, before slapping on a smile and laughing it off. “Now there's the Kaz I know! Always challenging me! Maybe you're just about ready to have a little chat now, big guy?”

>I think I'm starting to lose it, Io.
>I stabbed a classmate tonight. How do you think I feel?
>I appreciate what you're doing Io, but we're not friends. I can't trust you enough to share what I'm feeling. Sorry.
>Don't answer her, just leave the room.

I think its time to let some emotions out.

The earth had been carved by the airship, the events from two days ago clearly marked onto into the ground in the form of a giant hole. You contemplate for a moment and try to make sense of the fact of what’s in front of you. Countless splinters are sprinkled afar, bits of metal have embedded themselves in the dirt, and a splotch of blood can vaguely be made out. As for the airship itself, it’s gone. Gone in two days.

A quick search had yielding nothing to your disappointment. You take a minute to grieve for your left hand, boding it a silent farewell that you hope can reach the furthest of separated appendages.

Behind you is Orion entertaining Aima, the latter swinging around and shining the sun through the fractured jewel in her hands. Twenty minutes late down the road, a town comes into sight - Acies. It’s relatively small, about the size of Ardor from what you’ve seen, but the buildings here are of curved stone and wood, reminding you of giant fat mushrooms with their rounded rooves. Before you could even process it, Aima’s already running down the road.

“Meet you guys at the inn later!” she says.

“Be careful!” Orion calls.

You blink. “Not going to stop her?”

“She can handle herself fine,” she replies, handing you some crystals from the bag over her shoulder. “I need to go shopping.”

You nod, and then find yourself alone a moment later. Orion had split off to somewhere, and Aima was long gone. The streets are calm, the buildings giving off a faint buzz of life. You don’t recognize anyone here, although you swear some faces are remarkably familiar.

Strolling around you check out what’s around...
>You think you saw someone going into the market.
>The clanging from the blacksmith are audible from far away.
>There’s a commotion around town hall.
>Head to the inn. [Skip sequence]

You can never have too many swords. Or too big of a sword, for that matter.

*Medieval Times*

You watch in horror, struggling to hold back tears, as the village you grew up in burns to the ground. You can see and hear pirates looting your town's stuff. You are pretty sure you are the survivor. You are just outside of the village. Your back is facing the docks. Your boat is there, ready to go. All the things you could salvage before your house burned down waiting for you. You say you last goodbyes, turn away from the smoldering embers that used to be your entire life, and begin sailing away.

Inventory: Spare changes of clothes, small leather tunic, some kitchen utensils, medicine, the Bible and some other books, a map, a compass, an extra pair of boots, some bread, and some money.
