I find him very honourable. He has raised awareness about oceanic problems, such as acidification and pollutions (e.g., PCBs), and how they affect biodiversity and even our future selves.

I agree with his actions of defending cetacean life by breaking down ships and harassing stupid Faroe, Japanese fishermen, and Inuit people considering there is copious evidence defending cetacean high self-awareness and intelligence. If we acknowledge their high encephalization quotient, high degrees of brain folding, complexity of their neocortexes, psychological experiments validating strong self-awareness, and the established "theory of mind", then there is strong reason to believe their brains have a high capacity for integration and complexity, meaning they deserve to be called "non-human

While I think his means may be critiqued, one cannot disagree his end goal is not so bad.

He's a faggot and a retard. If you're going to be an eco-terrorist, do it right. Not that I disagree or agree with him. My ex loves whales and I watched the show because she talked about it. The show was absolutely horrible. It's a noble idea, in its own way, but it's so stupidly done it blew my mind.

Like I said: do it right.

I want to travel around the world making pictures of things that shock people.. things like mass slaughter of animals or mass graves in Syria. I am more than willing to sacrifice my own life doing this. However, how do I create a passive income to keep my going?

How do I create passive income for this shit?

Hello /out/

I am wanting to buy my neighbors boys (6-8 not exactly sure) something for Christmas. I am hoping you all have run into some cool items out on the internet, that would make cool gifts for outdoorsy kids. We live out in the country, and they spend most of their time when its warm outside with their dad gardening or just playing in the dirt.

MREs would actually make the parents laugh but arent much fun to play with, so those sorts of joke ideas are welcome for lulz but mostly looking for something original and cool for some kids that already have tonka trucks and dirt out the wazoo.

And yes they will both get a surprise .22 bolt action in a few years. Im the fun uncle with no nephews. Or would like to be.

>>

RC cars are cheap now, and they can have a lot of fun with.

What about a cheap tent? They're cheap at walmart. Maybe they'd just sleep outside one night with their dad, or just pitch it up in the yard and pretend camp. They're pretty young to really enjoy it properly, but never too young to start.

Here's the skinny of it - I'm lost. My wife and I both fell for the college meme and took out student loans to make it happen. I went into culinary arts, but that industry blows. I did it for 10 years and I wanted to start a family, restaurant life will not allow me to spend a lot of quality time with my kids. I got out and now work a desk job. My wife's degree is anthropology, so she has no hope of finding a job in that field and we both feel really dumb.

Anyway, I have realized over the past few years that I have an indefatigable love for nature. I have been really into permaculture the past few years, trying to convert my family's yard into a food forest. I live in a small town and want to know of an /out/ related job that would pay well without related education. I'm down for almost anything so long as it gets me away from the desk and inna woods.

I always loved stuff like that, but things like that require start up money, and I have student loan payments. Maybe an idea for the future.

General tent and shelter thread

I'm having a hard time deciding on which tarp tent to get. I'm concerned about condensation due to the single-wall design, so I'm leaning toward pic related (double moment). However I'm not sure how legitimate my concern is so I'm also considering the Stratospire 2, Squall 2, and Rainshadow 2. If anyone has experience with tarptent and can tell me about the model you have I would really appreciate it.
114 posts and 15 images submitted.
>>
>>638221
Also, the reasoning for the Double Moment is that it has a fully separate rainfly and the roof of the interior component is solid. Their other tents are either single wall or the interior has a mesh roof.

I'm not really concerned about weight, since even the heaviest tarptents are still pretty light. The biggest limiting factor is probably making sure that I have sufficient room to set it up in the woods.
>>
How come outdoor people dont just make temp lodging out of branchs and sticks? Why use tents?
>>
>>638298
Presumably it's a matter of convenience.

With a hatchet. Is it bad for the cutting edge? Maybe a little, it dulls the blade some; a few seconds with a puck and it's right back to sharp.

Do any of you have experience with emergency food rations whilst /out/? I'm leaving for a very long trip and plan to take some kind of emergency rations like pic related. I have a few questions:

1. What is the best brand for these? I know there are some that contain more nutritional value than others, but I can't find a good list anywhere.

2. Can these be food substitutes at all, or is it unhealthy to take these long-term? Assuming the brand has proper nutritional value of course. What's the catch with replacing food consumption with these?

Why wouldn't you just bring normal food?

Who the fuck would want to eat that?

What the fuck is wrong with you?
>>
>>632630

You needn't know the details dumbfuck, but long story short, I need rations due to their affordability/durability and longetivity of the trip.
>>
You should definitely try it before going out, its the worst kind of food you can imagine.

there are basicly 2 kinds of rations emergency and survival rations

as in its name its for emergencies and/or survival situations it gives you calories and nutrition and will keep you alive but thats it.

to consume emergency rations you need water

>it taste bad, precisely it taste like cardboard

>its dry and i mean really really, you have to drink 2 liters of water to eat 1 havenly dehydrated cracker and you still fart dust dry

>emergency rations are cubes made of fat, protein and carbs you can consume them unprepared (very yukky), as a mush (very yukky) or as a soup (very yukky).

#survival rations are only carbs and will only give you power so you will still be hungry. they can be consumed with little or no water.

there i no such thing like the best they are all bad. I only used military rations never tried the fancy NRG stuff.

You can get them quite cheap from surplus stores etc.
