Hello /out/ as an European fag I see the possibility of shit going down around here according to all the terrorist attacks and all that shit. The moment that happens around here, I usually go camping without much but what i always carry the most is food. And if for some reason I cannot pack that food what scares me the most is hunting. I am currently vegan because I don't believe that killing an animal when you don't have to is necessary. However I would one if i have to eat without any problem, the think that really scares me tho, is that i might not find any animals in the wild since i never have really. So how do i find animals or any food in the wild? any tips?

Pic unrelated.

Just like you, animals go to where there is food and water. In “event of bad times set up near water. Fishing is the easiest way to obtain animal flesh probably.

Hey /out/ first time poster here

I may end up having to leave my home (19, living with parents) relatively soon. It may happen, it may not, but in any event I'd like to be somewhat prepared.

I live in the suburbs, have a $9.50 an hour part-time job and take courses at my community college (only two though, I dropped two others this semester). I want to leave the general area I live in on a train or something but I'm unsure if completely abandoning my job is advisable, don't really care about dropping out of school because I fucking suck at it so I'm open to dropping that to potentially work full time. In any case, getting out of the area would be nice

I'd like to know good supplies to take with me when I inevitably become homeless, i.e. good foods for their weight/spoilage, tent, a decent military backpack etc. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing so any input would be appreciated

I own very few things, pic related is all the significant items I have. These things are a lightweight Lenovo laptop, a warm and relatively stylish jacket with fucktons of pockets, a pretty basic backpack (which is subject to replacement if severely needed) and a single-barrel shotgun I purchased for 50 dollars at a used gun store whose manufacturers are unknown and all I know about it is that it was patented in 1913. Was advised on purchase not to shoot it and I think the barrel is slightly warped to the right. Considering sawing it down to fit in a backpack and would eliminate the fucked barrel but I don't know if it'd be worth carrying, I also don't know if they have somethings like metal detectors at train stations so I might get pegged as a terrorist so knowing that in advance would be nice

I guess my ultimate goal would be to get a camper van or some form of cheap-ish shelter so I can work from there and just avoid homelessness in general.

tl;dr Stupid fuck potentially getting pushed out of suburbia with a couple of options and no idea what they are

There's 2 of these threads every week at least. Let me save you, and everyone else that would post some time.

Don't fucking choose to be homeless, or train hop, or whatecer idiotic bullshit youre planning.

Stay in school. College is easy, like insanely easy. You literally have to just go to class, not be stupid, study a bit, and then get a degree. I did it. It's not hard. At all. You're in community college, not Harvard.

Don't quit your job you fucking moron. You have a cotton jacket, shitty backpack, and a gun that will kill you before anything you are trying to shoot at. Don't worry you wouldn't have hit it anyways. If anything you should be working MORE, not less. Get another job. They're everywhere if you're willing to work. $9.50 an hour is good for some joke ass college kid with no skills and clearly little motivation.

None of your plan is long term. Living in a van or tent is still homeless. It's a shelter, not a home. Where are you going to shit? Shower? Get food? Stay warm? You have no skills and no plan. Do not fucking do it under any circumstances. Ever.

So you live with your parents? Stop being such a fucking cunt and get along with them. Work extra jobs, get a degree, and then you can move out and never see them again if you want.

You're not mentally normal. Clearly you're not. Seek counseling. I promise you it will help. I'm not being an ass, counseling with help you.

Hey /out/

First ever post, wanted some advice/ panoramic perspective on this homemade black pipe shotgun I found. The only purpose it's for is hunting and self defense if shit were to hit the fan.
It's really cheap to make and is pretty straight forward, see pic.
I think you could make this really small and lightweight, illegal but wouldn't matter in the hypothetical shit-uation. Thoughts?

Noisy criket made the video on YouTube I screen shotted thus from "black pipe shotgun"

Best dogs for when /out/ ?

looking for:

-loyalty
-keen senses
-something that'll aware me of anything dangerous trying to sneak up on me.

Why? I'm going on a camping trip where there may be wolves / bears. To stay safe I want to bring along a dog with sharper ears than mine.

Plus it would be awesome if I could also use this for hunting.

Pretty much every dog has sharper ears than you. If you want the dog to hunt with then the best one depends on what type of hunting dog you want. There are a bunch of different types sighthound, scenthound, retrievers, points, etc. Then you have to train them from birth to do what you want, and even then they might still suck at hunting.

I don't think a dog will be much help keeping you safe from bears or wolves though.
>>
>>638176
I looked through and German Shepherd caught my eyes most of all.

If I'm with a dog it can help me hunt and speak if there are animals nearby at night.

After that we tag team any bears / wolves. Obviously I would avoid this though and use all manner of deterrents.

Il probably die before my dog as I'm equally if not more loyal than 1

I have always wanted to get into something like this. It seems like such an accomplishment to summit a peak and would love to be very appreciative to be able to do this one day.
Question is..how do I as an amateur with no experience. I know I would like to make all 7 summits. The way I figured to do so is by starting at the lowest altitude mountain Kosciuszko and move up the list. Problem is I know Kilamanjaro is not a technical climb therefore making it semi ideal for beginners but is the 4th highest. Maybe someone can shed some light on this.

Yeah but thats not what Im asking.
Sure I can go with a expedition with no exp and have literally no know how..or I can do the reasonably smart option and start at the beginning. Thanks for the input though. I do know what expeditions exist to bring beginners up top but I just dont feel that would be the appropriate route.
>>
Start by leaving your mom's basement. The hike up the stairs might wind you, but don't give up. Maybe the second day you could go outside. If you get that far let us know

Nothing. There are no jobs in America without a significant lifetime investment (aka debt slave), or you know somebody on the inside (aka cronyism).

Well, they did ban high capacity magazines a while back, so that sort of limits your options to cripples, fat people and pregnant women if you're going for a high score.

So, I will be purchasing myself a pair of 9ft brown wool puttees for outdoor hiking use. I already know what they are used for but I want to know if there is anyone else who uses/has used/want to use for themselves. I personally can not wait until mine arrive just in time for this cold snowy weather

>>
I had looked into it briefly, but didn't end up getting a pair because I don't really hike in situations where I need gaiters. Sounds neat though, let us know how it goes.
>>
>>637828
Just to point a few things out...
They take time to put on, for example when you want to change socks or something.
They stop circulation in your feet if you pull them too tight.
They will usually get really dirty. Wool cloth doesn't get dirty easily, but it's comparably harder to wash.
>>
So what are they for?

I'm new at this and my friends are telling me to get the Aether. I have the funds but I am not sure whether this is a good starting backpack. Any feedback? I would like to go on 3-4 day camps.

Starting backpack? It's pretty fuckin great.

My first pack was a shitty 100 dollar rando brand I bought from cabelas. Hiked for two weeks with it. If you're buying osprey or aether and spending more than 200, you're probably fine.

I would only recommend going to an actual store, getting fitted, trying it on etc...
>>
Definitely go to a store and figure out your size first. Even if you don't buy it from that store.

My first pack was an Osprey Kestrel 48 and I haven't felt the need to upgrade yet. It's durable, well made, and everything I need. It's the kind of thing you'll keep around for a long time even if you decide to go ultralight or something. It's just as good for regular travel as it is for backpacking.

Plus they have a lifetime no-questions-asked warranty. So if something does break, even if it's your fault, they will fix it or replace it for free.
>>
It's a pretty expensive pack for a starter pack. BUT if it fits all your gear nicely really can't go wrong. 70 Liters is a good space for 3-4 days and they claim it handles loads up to 50 lbs very comfortably so that's more weight than you will use.

Lot's of people for their first pack spend something like $30-$100 and is like 50 liters and under but then you are really limiting yourself what you can bring and how it can be packed.

Whats stopping a person from buying an appropriate amount of land and placing link and pic related on said land and living cheaply and comfortably?

I figured you guys would know more about this than I would
But today I was walking through some woods
( 2 sq miles surrounded by houses in a fairly big city) not
really looking to do anything spectacular just figured it would be
fun. But I found this seemingly severed doe head laying in some brush
keep in mind, i found no blood, no body, no real trails besides deer
paths, Des Moines IA, skull cleaved clean through no brain, looking at
the spine not shown in the picture it almost looks ripped off the body.
Wtf happened? i feel like it would be weird for someone to just do this
so close to where people live and I really doubt any predator did this.
