Is tapered steerer a meme?
Asking if every goddamned thing is a 'meme', is a meme. Knock that shit off and get real.
No, it's not
>>1086111
got so school learn some physics and mechanics and then ask yourself again that question.
As you may know, that one airlander butt blimp was flown. This is what makes me excited about the future of air travel, because as jetfuel costs go up, to have cheap air travel we either have to go with electric planes or airships. Airships can carry exponentially more weight than cargo planes depending on how big we make them, and with modern technology we wont have a repeat of the hindenburg disaster. Hydrogen is cheaper than dirt and can be pulled out of water (or even the air) and amazon has even expressed interest in airships. And airships can also take a foothold in the travel industry, like cruiseliners but better, you float close to the sea or land and when you see a storm or something, float your ass back up 3000 feet above it. I just think it will be badass to see a masssive airship floating over the sky.
>>1085640
Nope. They are slow, very susceptible to weather and wind effects, and cannot lift as much as you think. Heavier than air flight is king for a reason.
>>1085650
>very susceptible to weather and wind effects
This is indeed a problem. Maybe attaching it to a train could help.
>>1085650
what about a reaction control system? Like we have on rockets? We could use hydrogen as a propellant for that, or we could have the props be 3d maneuverable.
Which one is better and why?
Hint: The answer is obvious.

bitch boy confirmed.
>>1084735
Presta, the narrower diameter means a smaller hole in the rim, for stronger wheels. The only advantage of schrader is it's stronger and has a built in spring instead of the little nut, so it's better for klutzes.
A twin isle at this size?
The fucking madmen, how will airbus respond?
>>1084178
If Airbus responds, it won't be for a while because it's not even definite that Boeing will build the NMA/797 yet.
Airbus has, in the recent past, said that they feel they are covered with the A321neo (and LR version) and the A330neo. And on top of that, they've indicated that they don't plan to stretch the A321neo into the A322. In a 2-class config, the A321 is basically a 757-200 in terms of capacity. I'd guess that an A322 would be about the capacity of a 757-300. The 797/NMA will allegedly carry 220-270 passengers and go about 5200nm. The lean towards "twin aisle w/ single aisle economics" is supposed to be what differentiates it beyond the capacity/range combination.
Going to be very interesting to watch how this develops.
>>1084184
Also, I really don't see the point in keeping the MAX 9 around. It seems like they should push as many orders as possible to convert their MAX 9 orders to MAX 10s. Airbus dominated the upper tier of that segment with the A321neo and Boeing should take the hint.
>>1084186
Apparently 214 of the 361 MAX 10 orders were conversions with the rest being net new.
GCN is the biggest bunch of posers:
during their ideal bike fit nonsense they speweed for years:
the saddle had to be exactly level, the bars had to be exactly level and proportionate to the saddle height.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsoFD_rhNkQ
----------
now that the UCI lifted the 3 degree saddle tilt limit,
pros are starting to slam the saddles forward and tilt downwards 9 degrees
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=247&v=69OzE3KB2IY
----
now all their recent videos have their bikes with slammed forward saddles and tilted down noses.
they just bullshit about "proper" bike fit but just want to emulate what the pros are doing at any given moment.
If the UCI said you had to cycle in clown shoes a bunch of GCN morons and cyclists would be cycling in clown shoes every Saturday morning.
how about they focus on breaking the 12mph "barrier" on their 10 mile ride to starbucks and back?
>>1083795
>now that the UCI lifted the 3 degree saddle tilt limit
Lol, competitive road cycling is a fucking joke.
>>1083895
>git gud
So motor dope.
Nah, I like riding my bike.
>>1083850
Always has been.
>>1083795
>The UCI
Literally who?
>pros are starting to slam the saddles forward and tilt downwards 9 degrees
Who cares? The pros will always do whatever lets them put their saddle as far forwards as possible within the rules.
Just found some cool pics of transportation stuff in pre-WWI Berlin, thought you might enjoy
Landwehrkanal/Anhalter Bahn/Hochbahn near Anhalter Bahnhof/Möckernbrücke
Reichstag
Stadtschloss
omnibus
None of these are present here on /n/.
Time to make a thread about them, amirite /n/iggas?
I like the horsecar variation. Rails are sexy + horses can pull the cars more easily.
>>1086634
That's a beautiful looking horse drawn tramcar there.
The Isle Of Man has horse drawn trams too.
It sounds and is autistic as fuck, but have any other Americans/Canadians here felt outcast because they were more into British railways? I grew up on Thomas and never really felt like I could enjoy the local model shops. Sucks too because I live near Roanoke VA and got NS shoved down my throat when I showed interest in railways. Are there any expat British things in the US one could go see? I about lost my mind as a 10 year old when I found out the Flying Scotsman toured the US.
>>1086094
I know you have an A4 in America, apart from that I've got no idea really. There's one in Canada as well, wish you'd give them back.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LNER_Class_A4_4496_Dwight_D_Eisenhower
I know that feeling all too well. I'm in a model railroad club and all I run are British locos, while everyone else runs American trains. I try bringing British railway stuff up in conversation, but they end up going on about Santa Fe diesels or some other yank shit.
And having a British themed layout is a bitch because I have to import everything. It'd be nice if to have a local shop that sells Hornby or something so I could have it the same day.
I'm just glad I'm not alone in my interests.
>>1086267
Fuck, the picture is upside down.
What do ya /n/iggers think of the Class 37 diesels?
>>1085404
They are peng
>>1085413

XD I like that, Anon.
Here's another peng ass Class 37 for you.

Would it be stupid to put a 3 speed internal hub and dropper post on a dirt jumper to use as a commuter and street trick bike, or genius?
first of all, if you get this type of bike, you should not care what other people thinks, but if you do, it's not the bike for you, simple as that.
>>1085036
normies would think is cool
Sounds kind of fun, actually.
I don't know how practical it would be to get around though.
What are your thoughts on homeless people riding public transport? I live in San Diego, and the amount of smelly, crazy, drug abusing bums riding the trolley is out of control. I'm used to it now, but I think many middle and upper class people really discard the trolley as a result. I understand that public transport is most beneficial for the lower class, but ought there be more standards? How is the situation in your city?
>>1084349
Don't know.
I live in a country where homelessness is basically non-existent, due social security that covers everyone an home to live in.
But there are some druggies on the metro, trams and commuter trains, mainly because there isn't ticket barriers and ticket inspectors aren't everywhere.
Pic related, the metro. Since it travels to the ''shitty parts'' of Helsinki, there is often bums and smelly people.
- Whenever the bus/tram reached terminal, all passengers should be deboarded, and then driver should shut the engine and lock the door after that. Reboarding would require the passenger pay the fare again
- For metro, the ampubt of time allowed for one person to stay in the metro from entering a station to leaving another should be restricted to like two or three hours depend on longest journey you can possibly make in the network. Anyone who stay in the paid area for exceedingly long should pay a fine for abusing the facility.
- And public transport company and their staff should be given right to refuse people who would be disruptive to other passenger from using their service just like in cinema/etc
There is a simple solution to all of this: reintroduce 1st class/2nd class/3rd class schemes to rail transport. You have the 3rd class cars where only homeless sit and middle class and rich people get their own separate cars. Voila.
So, whatch /n/iggas think of the Manor Class locomotive?
Handsome
Hinton Manor always looks great when I see her, but it's a shame she isn't in steam.

What transport games do you play, like, or are looking forwards to?
I've had Train Sim World since release day, and it's come a long way. They've said they're releasing a British route soon and I'm really looking forward to it.
>>1074718
I play MSTS. Only because no other TS (apart from Trainz) allows me to drive suburban Melbourne trains
>>1074725
damn, that looks really good
>>1074725
Also I think the TSW devs said they're gonna finally add Australia stuff and support for 3rd-party modding.
