I saw a Class 37 a few days ago flying through Tonbridge station, unfortunately wasn't quick enough to get any pics.

No problem, if I am not mistaken it looks like an InterCity livery from the 80s.

It's been a while since I have seen a Class 37 on the mainline.

The only 37 I've taken a photo of is Mirrlees Pioneer at the Mid Hants Railway.

Class 37's have an EE 12CVST engine (ignoring the experiments with 37/9 sub-class)

You're thinking of the 55's, which had an EE Deltic 18 cylinder engines, or the 23 "Baby Deltic" which had an EE Deltic 9 cylinder engine.
