EAGLE FOR THE MASSES
THIS IS NOT A DRILL

>The 50-tooth cog is aluminum, but the other 11 cassette cogs are stamped steel. The entire unit is held together with more than 100 stainless steel pins.
I know weight savings and all but I don't like aluminum sprockets
>>1079911
i feel you on that bud. i'll probably wait til some long-term reviews drop both because i'm curious about the life of the aluminum 50 and because i want to buy a new wheelset for my cx bike in the immediate future.

I like my rigid mtb from '98. It's got a couple things I'd like to upgrade though. The freewheel style axle is bent because I weight 230 and take it off drops. Is it worth upgrading to a cassette? looks like it's $90 for a cheap wheel and maybe 30-50 for a new cassette? also it's still running cantis and I'd like to upgrade to v brakes but that's another expense for an old ass bike.
What say you?
>>1079170
I say yes. These bikes can be trued back into shape, especially if its something like ridebending from clydesdale persons
I am seeing about how possible it would be to get 1x11 going, I am not totally certain.
upgrading your wheelset would be the first thing. Make sure you know what hub width you need, so you dont need to stretch the frame.
>>1079272
good, i just spent almost 200 on an old bike.
Update for posterity.
I bought that pic related v brakes kit from amazon. The brake arms probably work fine on normal bikes but I'm running 27.5's (They're 2.5" wide so they actual come out to just over 28") on a 26" frame.
The brake arms are too short and the tire interferes with the wire crossover. I bought some tektro brake arms that are supposed to be 110mm tall, this kit came with 100mm tall. There were no complications with my previous center pull canti's because the crossover wire provides more tire clearance.
Was it sabotage?

It's on record that the MILW's de-electrification, Pacific extension abandonment, and bankruptcy was a corporate conspiracy of the highest order. The evidence for this is irrefutable.

Dayum.
Just shooting in the dark here; did something similar happen to Pan Am (other than deregulation)? That airline's fall from grace was rather swift, and I've heard they really let themselves go during the '80s.
Conspiracy theory time. Is Sieg actually Seth Worthington?
No, but Great White is actually BaconRider

Shut your faggot moutn!

Is BaconRider actually VeganRider?
Why do they do this?

direct power. Fun to ride. I made one in design school, its somewhere in my parents garage now
Muh minimalism
>>1075242
Please tell me why design fags are obsessed with fucking up the beauty of a purely functional design. JUST STOP.
>b-but my arm was extended, that means you don't exist!
This is what cyclists seriously believe.
>>1074683
nah you rarely ever see one that signals most of them assume you are a telepath.
You realize overtaking at intersections is illegal, right?
>>1074694
prolly cuz 99% of drivers dont know what hand signals mean, or dont even see the biker anyways
Hey guys, looking for opinions.
I have a late 90's/early 2000's specialized rockhopper as my entry level beater to cut my teeth on the trails. However, to get the most out of my bike I'm thinking about upgrading some of the parts to make it a bit more capable. One of the upgrades i want is wider handlebars. Is this upgrade worth it on a older bike, or am i better off just using it as is with the older style narrow bars until I switch over to something newer?
Pic related, what I was going to order.
>>1081008
Here's a pic of the bike as I bought it for reference. Not pictured are some race face chester flat pedals and a new seat, as well as a shitload of mud from my last ride.
>>1081008
Yes get them- it prob has tiny ass bars on it. if 720 is too wide you can cut them. Consider a shorter stem as well. I put some 640s on my old bike and they are still too narrow compared to a modern bike.
Wider bars and a shorter stem will significantly change the way the bike handle, in a good way.
Thoughts? Looks like a pretty cool and fun way to get around town with your friends.
Looks fucking dangerous mane

strap one of these badboys with 8 hoses instead of 3 and we got a deal
>>1080903
Is that EPO?
How difficult would it be to learn to bunnyhop on a hardtail with a milk crate on the back rack?
>>1080874
It's good practice and shouldn't be any harder. The difference is the effort required for more height.
>>1080954
I had to bunny hop my 70lb loaded touring bike over an unexpected pothole. I almost ripped my arms out of their sockets but it can be done.
>>1081005
>using your arms to bunny hop
You're doing it wrong desu
Great plains bros..
The wind man, how do you deal with the wind. I swear to god any direction i travel, theres a 10-20 mph headwind.
Im doing the bike across kansas right now.
There is nothing you can do. Being so far inland winds change as the day heats up. Its not uncommon to have 20+mph winds in all directions at some point in the day
Last month and a half has been hell. Early mornings the wind tends to be lighter if you can get up at 4 or 5 am.
We have 60kmh wind for months here mostly everyday. Living on a subtropical volcanic island and stuff...
Today its been AWFUL and Ive done 90km. Just deal with it and dont use deep section wheels.

But skating is just as effective for commuting as biking
Bicycle speedometer/odometers - are they a meme?
Glad you made a thread, OP, because i'm looking for one.
all functionality i want from it:
wireless
backlit
small
waterproof
with one of those things you stick on your tire
I was looking at the cateye strada slim, but it has no backlight.
>>1080282
I don't know what your budget is but I highly recommend the Wahoo element bolt. I did a lot of research going into buying a GPD/Bike computer and I finally landed on that one. It has everything you could ever want, save for a color screen. I have zero complaints about it.
>>1080285
i was looking more in the $0 - $100 area to be honest. that one has a lot of functions i don't care for.
>pic kinda related
Hello guys, good morning :)

What do you recommend ? Car battery with converter? UPS?
Tell me what you think about it
>>1079978
Not sure what you mean by "I need wi-fi to do social wi-fi", but if you're talking about some device to share wifi with others, a USB power bank is all you need.
>>1079981
maybe I wasnt clear enough..so my bad on that
I need something that has POWAR, usb power bank wont hold up enough time
>>1079983
Things like fuel cell?
What can you tell me about AUTOBIKE?
Kind of looks like something you would regret buying
I imagine it would be shitty unless you were an uber casual that always goes slow. At certain speeds it would be bouncing back and forth between gears. Shifting on its own I wouldn't even dare stand while pedaling.
Automatic bicycle shifting is one of those ideas that seems useful on the surface but has plenty of drawbacks in practice. Ideally you would be able to tailor the shift points for you preferred cadence. Even then sometimes you want to hold a gear in a lower cadence (when standing or drafting), or higher cadence (rapid acceleration, or maintain a buffer against the wind to prevent bogging down). Too many exceptions and you really should be in control of when a shift occurs so you can ease up momentarily.
The only time I've felt I could use auto shifting is when I'm riding with something in my hand that won't fit in a bottle cage or bar bag, like a milkshake.
