It sounds and is autistic as fuck, but have any other Americans/Canadians here felt outcast because they were more into British railways? I grew up on Thomas and never really felt like I could enjoy the local model shops. Sucks too because I live near Roanoke VA and got NS shoved down my throat when I showed interest in railways. Are there any expat British things in the US one could go see? I about lost my mind as a 10 year old when I found out the Flying Scotsman toured the US.

I know you have an A4 in America, apart from that I've got no idea really. There's one in Canada as well, wish you'd give them back.

I know that feeling all too well. I'm in a model railroad club and all I run are British locos, while everyone else runs American trains. I try bringing British railway stuff up in conversation, but they end up going on about Santa Fe diesels or some other yank shit.
And having a British themed layout is a bitch because I have to import everything. It'd be nice if to have a local shop that sells Hornby or something so I could have it the same day.
I'm just glad I'm not alone in my interests.

That's what you get for phone posting.

The two A4s are in the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and in the Canadian Railway Museum in Delson (near Montreal), Quebec. You actually had a perfect opportunity to steal them back during "The Great Goodbye'' event in Britain a few years ago, where all of the surviving A4s (including these two) were briefly reunited in the UK.

The first thing that immediately came to mind was this place: https://www.waleswest.com/ The Wales West RV Resort & Light Railway in Silverhill (near Mobile), Alabama uses a 2-foot gauge Exmoor steam locomotive built in 2004 (kudos to the UK for having multiple companies that still make new steam locomotives). I believe you need to reserve an RV spot at the resort to ride it, though.

Steamtown once had a BR 9F and a Southern U-Boat at one time. They're both back in the UK now. My grandfather has pictures of two victorian era locomotives in the U.S. From no more than a decade ago, but I can't find any info. They were working as well.
>tfw you'll never be as much as an outcast as waddon

If as a grown man you are discussing trains, you really can't be futher from being normal. I literally can't think of any more autistic hobby.
