So what does /n/ think about this ?
1080 and 720 just Dropped.... on the DL.... will spool it up soon.
General (non kinofag) Discussion
i thoroughly enjoyed it.
had a few good laughs.
they overdid the Lance joke though.

Ahhh thats good to hear. Normally cant handle those guys to be honest
What an insufferable cast
I always thought that trains in highway medians looked cool, but is it actually a good idea from a tra/n/sportation standpoint?
Terrible idea. All that wasted space could be used for general purpose lanes and alleviate freeway congestion.
I figure if the median space is already there, and you have no other suitable or open right of way for a new train line, then sure it might be a good idea. I'd rather they fill it with trains than more lanes which on their own may not always fix congestion. Of course, if this is some dinky two lane highway that really needs at least one more lane, or shoulders, then that may be more pressing.

Great idea *IF* the railroad actually owns the right of way. Maintenance is super easy too. There's no need to hi-rail to the work site and there are no crossings to mess with. It could be a problem for certain dimensional loads and double stacks, though.
We built a fully functional metro and regional rail system in this minecraft map we made.
Does it meet /n/'s standards?

What does /n/ think of BART?
>>1086062
pretty shit for a city that claims to be high tech af
yesterday i saw a guy with a big bag of aluminum cans sleeping on the bart. i wanted to take pics of his feet and shoes, but that would be rude, they weree disgusting. he got up and started peeing on the door then walked off at the next exit, i recognized him from the neighborhood i used to live in, i once caught him stealing metal from my scrap pile.
earlier that day i was on an airplane and the guy next to me had his and his son's seat changed to first class becuase of some terrible smell (im assuming he meant me) i figure youre probably quite a rich AND snob if you can afford to pay $300+ to not have to smell something for 3 hours. i usually dont shower with soap and about 30hours prior to the flight i had washed with soap so something about the natural oils and microorganisms being stripped off your body. most of my disgusting dirty laundy was in my checked luggage

...what?
I'm making a shitpost IRL, any suggestions?
Have lots of parts laying about.

Good start. Get rid of the brakes, mount toe-hook pedals and an air horn.
>>1064053
flip them bars brah
you win /n/ forever if you weld a derailleur hanger on the back of that memecycle and hang a mid or high spec derailleur on it with no connection to the actual drivetrain.
>>1064057
No, with connection to the drivetrain, shifter cables and shifter attached, but no other cogs to shift to.
Ever heard of the Taiwanese bike brand Gusto? This model is the Gusto RCR Team Limited, Shimano Ultegra. They even have their own race team Attaque Team Gusto. Thoughts?
just buy a dengfu or hongfu
It seems a good portion of bike parts are made in Taiwan nowadays, I wouldn't be surprised if it was really good.

Listen: Components are components. Unless they're counterfeits, if they're brand-name then you know what the quality is. The frameset and wheelset are another matter entirely. You've never heard of this company before? Do you have ANY idea what their quality control is like? Are there ANY reviews from credible sources available to you? That's a big portion of what you're paying for when you buy a bike from a well-known top-shelf manufacturer: confidence that the product you're getting isn't going to fall apart on you like some of the horror pics you've seen of CF framesets that shattered. It doesn't matter if they have a 'race team' or not. For all you know their 'race team' is a bunch of nobodies who don't really care if the bikes fall apart or not so long as they have a job. You also don't know whether the bikes their factory 'race team' is riding are better quality than what they're selling the roundeye Americans like you; they could be giving only the best quality to the race team and selling everyone else the shitty ones, assuming fat lazy Americans aren't going to ride it hard enough for it to break anyway. So that's what you've got to consider: is it good quality materials and construction, and is their quality control and quality assurance held to a high enough standard that you can have confidence in the product you're paying for? Or is it paper-thin low-quality flawed CF, poorly designed, and only 'inspected' cosmetically, so it looks good but is structurally flawed? You have to research that and decide for yourself whether it's a good risk or not.
These bikes are built like tanks, you can ride one through winter weather without winter tires and rain season for years without it breaking down , yet they only cost around $100.
Why the fuck are bicycles so flimsy and overpriced outside Japan? You have to shell out at least 1000$ to get a bicycle that won't fall apart while riding it. Get your your shit together senpai
single-speed gaspipe piece of shit in winter weather will "never break down"
what exactly do you define as breaking down? That's not so impressive tbqh
I've had the chance to work on a couple of mamacharis that have made it across the ocean, and they're nothing special aside from the fact that they typically come equipped with lots of useful accessories.
There's no reason that Walmart couldn't sell the exact same bikes in the US at the same price point as shitty "mountain bikes," but they don't because there's almost no demand for those bikes here. A big reason why Walmart bikes are so terrible is that the folks who assemble them are contract workers who don't have adequate time, training, or motivation to adjust those bikes properly before sale, and that leads to failures from poorly built wheels and lack of lubrication.
If I had to, I'm sure that I could commute for a full year (I live about three miles from my work), including through winter snow, on a Walmart/Kmart/Target special, as long as I got it new and was able to adjust all the bearings and tension the wheels before subjecting it to use.

Because most people ride a bicycle for fun or for fitness, or for transporting just themselves, therefore they don't need a cargo bike. Additionally your average recreational/casual rider isn't an athlete and only of average fitness at best and isn't going to do too well climbing any hill on a bike that weighs 30 pounds. You aren't going to shell out thousands of dollars for a 15 pound race bike and bolt a bunch of racks and baskets and panniers to it, either. Totally different kinds of bikes.
If you want a utility bike, then get a utility bike or a cargo bike, and you be sure to enjoy chugging up those ascents on something that weighs 30 pounds. Also enjoy paying up to as much as a mid-level race bike for one because they're a very limited market kind of bike and therefore aren't cheap either.
>can bunny hop and manual on my BMX just fine
>buy a drop bar road bike

So I just ordered a bike from Halfords

This one, to be exact. They're already building it, it's supposed to be ready Friday.
However, i've just discovered this bike which I really like the look of. Only £50 more expensive, has 30% off the price, and looks super nice. Should I just ditch the Halfords bike and get this one instead?

For what it's worth it's just for my 4 mile each way bike commute, but I wanted something decent regardless. Pic related, the one I kinda want instead now.
pls respond
Marin looks to have better parts, have you tried riding either of them?

To all you cycle mechanics out there who needs regular iron supplements?
How big is your tool collection? Do you have any guilty purchases? Any tools your eager to pic up?
does cycling reduce iron in the body or are you using it as slang for buying tools/equipment?
>>1092251
Because your body has to pump blood at higher speeds than would normally be possible because you're exerting more energy than you usually would to get to speeds that would otherwise be impossible by running, your blood gets worn down and thinned as you cycle, depending on how strenuous you're working and what distance and so on. So your cells get more tired from working harder, faster, for longer, and since you have to keep a constant oxygen intake, your blood iron starts to decrease. You can overcome this easily by simply working at a garage and handling the tools, as iron ions get absorbed by your skin as you work. Just make sure you're not using work gloves, of course.

Hi /n/
I come to tell you the story of how the railways in and around Tarragona (medium sized city an hour south of Barcelona) are getting screwed bigtime.
First a bit of background:
Tarragona is relevant because it's part of the "Mediterranean corridor", a hypothetical freight and passenger mainline which is being upgraded/built along the mediterranean coast in Spain. Tarragona also has a relatively important port.
The idea is to have high speed passenger services, and freight service in both iberian broad gauge and standard gauge, so that freight trains can continue all the way across europe. This is one of the main corridors designated by the European Union.
When the Madrid-Barcelona high speed line was built, it wasn't supposed to stop in Tarragona. But responding to local pressure, the line was detoured and a station added. However this station is several km outside of the city, which now has the central station, used by conventional (broad gauge) trains, and the high speed station.
Pic related is the current layout: In red, conventional broad gauge, in blue HSR. Dottet blue projected new HSR line. The circles with yellow and black stripes indicate temporary speed limitations due to track in disrepair.
Although the HSR station outside the city was kinda bearable, since it's only used for HS trains to Madrid and Barcelona, the problems began with the new HS line along the coast (currently, the existing line is one of the most heavily used in all of Spain). This new line is to join the existing high speed line at its current station. This would mean that all long distance services would now stop at this far-out station, while the centrail station would see regional, commuter and freight trains. Tarragona would thus be the only main city along the mediterranean corridor without long distance trains stopping within the city proper.
Pic related is the scheme projected by the government. The line along the coast, which was upgraded to semi-HS in the 1980's would be converted to std gauge so as to join with the existing HSR line. The central station would get combined std and iberian gauge, but only to allow freight trains to pass through. There will be no flying junction for trains coming from the south along the coast, so from the station Cambrils Nord to the branch toward the Tarragona central station there would be essentially a single track for those trains.
For once, the central government isn't the only one that's to blame. This whole story has to do also with the old line which, just south of Tarragona, passes throuh many cities which have grown a lot in recent years due to tourism, and it runs right through the very middle. Spaniards being the train lovers that they are, obviously started crying out on how terrible and dangerous this line is. Ironically, it is also the only regional line in all of Spain which actually makes money. Not just that, they also insisted on getting actual HS trains, and not just semi-HS trains like they've had for decades now running on iberian gauge at 200km/h. Well, they got everything they wanted.
And now that the closure of the stations Salou and Cambrils nears, suddenly they've noticed their fuckup, because they didn't think that people actually use the fucking train because it's right in the middle of the city.
However, not all is lost. There is a proposal that would offer a quick but effective fix to this. It's not perfect but it could work.
The idea would be to use the multiple gauge in the Tarragona central station to allow high speed trains to stop there. For this it would be necessary to build a flying junction where the line to the central station branches off the HS main line. And then another branch between the central station and the HS line to Barcelona.
There is absolutely no good excuse for the lack of a high-speed rail connection between Chicago and Milwaukee. It is disgusting, it is pathetic and it is shameful.
This country thinks public transport is for poor people and we're afriad if we build trains that black people will come to out suburbs and rape is. End of story.
Is there even anything in Milwaukee? Besides some abandoned beer factories, and mass graves from all the serial killers? What even is the point of Milwaukee?
There should be HSR between Chicago and Minneapolis. Between Chicago and Cleveland. Between Cleveland and major East Coast cities.
HRS between Chicago and Milwaukee makes about as much sense as HSR between New York and Scranton. I mean yeah, in the ideal world, I'd love to see HSR fucking everywhere, but I'd probably start with places that need it most.

Our city has quite a few pedestrian streets. There is an effort to convert a main avenue downtown to a walkable car-free transit boulevard.
What pump do you use? What are your experiences with it?
What tyre with do you sport?
How often do you top off/check your tyre pressure?
What pressure do you use and is it in the sidewall reccomendended range?
