> been doing this kinda hilly commute route for over a year, basically have kept same time over entire period
> yesterday some dude in a Lycra suit completely roasts me like I'm standing still on a route I've been doing over a year
Why do I even bother
>>1086046
>a year
lol
>Why do I even bother
Probably because it's fun.
>I can't have fun unless I'm "winning"
In my experience only serious losers think like this.

HAHAHAHA WHAT A LOSER
How do you feel about China's newest bullet train model CR400 (dubbed "Fuxing" or prosperity)?
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2017-06/26/c_136394318_3.htm
It's the first of the China Standardized EMU series train, which are (claimed to be) wholly Chinese design based on further development of foreign HSR tech that was transferred to China by France, Germany, and Japan as part of the previous gen HSR supply contracts to China.
CR400's service speed is 350km/h, and its design speed is 400km/h, making it the fastest non-maglev HSR in operation.
The first two trainsets start operating on the Beijing-Shanghai HSL immediately.
It would be a good start if the PRC would "fuxing" go back to 350 km/h operation instead of this lame ass 300 km/h after their big train crash a few years ago.

Forgot to attach semi-related picture. Definitely looking forward to this.
>>1085018
Who cares
Taiwan's Fuxing is a conventional speed train. PRC political motives.

Looks like someone unfamiliar with road bikes slapped a bunch of leftover parts on an old frame. I'd say it's worth somewhere in the $300-400 range, but only to someone interested in making changes who understands the value of parts
>>1084730
>slapped a bunch of leftover parts on an old frame
This. Double derailleur on a triple chainset. It probably doesn't even shift as it now stands. This is either someone desperate to get rid of his garage pile, or the result of some hobo bike thiefs chop shop. Look at the fucking brifters.
>>1084724
needs new cables, not run propwerly, needs new tape, wheelset doesn't match, the pedal is cross threaded (see how it angles down)
so whatever a pile of parts is worth to you. i'd offer $50
bikes aren't as valuable as /n/ makes it out to be
especially bikes over 10 years old. they're essentially trash
G'day my /n/ignogs. Klaus here. I'm in Zurich once again so here are some obligatory tram pics.
Also I'll be here quite some time, any requests I'll try to comply. This time I have a camera phone or phone camera or whatever, so no waiting for pics.

hope you guys dont care about a different art pic, just wanted a change (again)
i just did 5000km with my first road bike, so im gonna change my chain (yep im going with this method instead of measuring wear, the idea is to change it before wear happens, and yes i should change it a bit sooner next time).
anyways, i have no experience with chains, its the only basic thing i still dont do myself. so i bought pic related. bike has 105 11speed.
pla is to eat now while watching a bunch of youtube tutorials about chain changing. then im doing it.
should i know anything else? should i avoid tdoing it the first time alone and seek help with someone else or is my plan ok and im gonna be ok just with some vids and a little google maybe?
thanks.

i bought online a new bike with hydraulic brakes, after many years of being disconnected from current trends/technology - should arrive in a couple of days.
should i bleed them after unboxing or is it common practice to ship the brakes ready for use?
>>1081625
It's just a bicycle drivetrain.
Get over it.
If it represents a major financial and emotional investment to you, get over that.
fat neet here, looking to get a bike. Are $200 road bikes of amazon a good option? I just want something to get exercise with and go from my house to the store.
No
Get a 90s rigid MTB
>>1080333
just get an old used steel roadbike off of craigslist and fix it up
you could maybe get away with that - bikes at this price point are generally pretty doomed but if you go easy on it, maintain it and throw a bit of cash at it it will last longer, likely a couple of years if used regularly.
better bet is to pick up something that's higher quality second hand, like a decent mountain bike or a hybrid. post your local CL.
i'd avoid getting an old road bike if you're out of shape and not used to riding - you need comfort and fit to encourage you to get on the bike, get you outside etc.
go easy at first - i've a good but chunky friend that fucked up his knees by pushing himself too hard.
luck to you.
Helmetless BTFO
You wear a helmet to break it.
>>1077415
Explain to me what a cracked helmet proves
>>1077415
>runs into a bear
jesus
I accidentally my bike,
does anyone know what's the name of these part so I can get a replacement?
here is where is supposed to go
>>1085860
>>Derailer hanger.
thanks familiar
Post a single bicycle helmet that not make you look like retardo and is not fullface.
>>1083982
Get over yourself, you're not impressing anyone.
>>1083982
a scraped off scalp, cracked skull or actual brain damage make you look retarded.
being afraid of how you look just makes you seem like an overly self conscious amateur.
try bombing down a mountain and crashing due to some unforeseen occurrence and whacking your cranium on a large rock.
Try getting launched from your bike because a cager runs a red and slams into you at high speed with their booze guided murder machine causing you to hit vehicles, curbs or simply the road with your head.
hell, even if you hide on the sidewalk like a fag there are people who whip in/out of driveways a unsafe speeds without looking for kids/pets/cyclists(You).
honestly, wearing a full kit(that means a helmet too) makes you look like an actual cyclist instead of that kid who's afraid his schoolmates will mock him.
One day you'll get a puncture and land on your head and then we'll be free from your dumb posts.
Thoughts on this ?

They have sold over 160k of them in Japan. Has the airless tire dream finally happened?
>>1082393
The Japanese are buying them because keeping a full-sized bike pump around the apartment is a major inconvenience, and mini-pumps are all garbage.
If you're curious, you may as well buy a set and find out why the airless tire meme has not and never will happen.
>>1082396
Really so all this time they've been riding pneumatic tires and suddenly they collectively decided they have no room for a pump? lmao it's more like you keep a tire repair kit in your fanny pack at all times and dream of the day you see some helpless your girl broken down and can't stand the thought of your one """skill""" in life being marginalized you fat autist. A lot of these bikes have sold. I'm not seeing the complaints about them. Looks like the airless meme has happened.
>>1082402
Enjoy your shitty, shitty riding tires and deformed rims turbonerd.
Why do bicycles smell so good?
I've always liked the sleek, stainless look of Budds
How do you feel about Seoul, South Korea's third main high speed rail station?
It's mostly underground.
>>1085267
The photo feel like it missed something but I can't tell what it missed...
>>1085267
those stairs don't go anywhere
I hope they installed enough gas masks and fire suits for everyone.
I'm 6'2" (doctor verified height). In real life people guess I'm 6'4" since everyone lies.
Do these height guides expect you to use doctor verified height or exaggerated meme height?
>>1084913
Should have mentioned the reason I'm wondering is because the midpoint between 5'5" and 6'5" is 5'11"
>>1084913
They expect you to use the height that you actually are. No need for a doctor to do it, a tape measure is good enough.
That said frame sizing is not some strict rule that you absolutely must adhere to. Even though you're 6'2" the 18" frame may be fine for you, you may have longer than average legs (and so need to raise the saddle a bit) but a shorter torso like that of someone shorter than you. You could even have two people with identical leg and torso lengths but could differ in height by an inch due to neck and head length.
>>1084917
Thanks. I would try multiple size bikes out myself but I live in a very small village (no car either) with no major bike shops and am looking at second hand.
Hi It's John from Bikefit advisor
just here to tell you that everyone in the bike industry are fucking retards and I'm the only true expert on everything and you should pay me 300 dollars for me to adjust your saddle height 1.5mm but if someone tells you that you might benefit from shorter cranks or a longer stem they are trying to rip you off, unless I tell you to do that then its a good use of money but only if I say so because I'm the only one who knows anything.
>>1084829
here is your (You). happy now?
My grandfather told me once to never trust anyone who uses bright green lower thirds for his name on videos.
