A thousand dollar Turkish AR style shotgun. No, avoid it. Turkish firearms are hit and miss(especially UTAS), I wouldn't bet a grand on it. And AR style shotguns don't really have solid reputation yet.

The SA model has a PPQ-esque trigger which is nice, I heard they can take modified beretta 92 magazines. I'm tempted to attempt a grip chop and see if I can't get 92 compact magazines to work with it and have my own compact TP9

All of those countries are all ready responsible for defending themselves with less that 2% of gdp, let alone 4%. Once you factor in bulk buy discounts we are talking about a massive increase in expenditure here. Whilst Britain is by itself the top in europe this would take them 2nd internationally very quickly. (Which for power projection ir is arguable that it already is).

It probably would change little about how the world works. The anglo sphere already sticks together where it counts bur it would mean more war for Canada & Australia etc.

The empire never really had a unified millitary. The colonies would raise and equip own forces before sending formed units to fight under british generals. (Though in later periods there would be nothing unusual of a colonial officer comanding british troop).

According to a forum post on ye olde Akfiles, vietnam wanted to import a bunch of old surplus 7.62x39 to the US in the 70s or 80s and the ATF didn't allow it because of fear there would still be a salted round here and there and kill someone who shot it. A few years ago I would have said an Arsenal. However over the past year or so I have ordered 7 for customers of mine (own a small gun store) and 6 of the 7 had canted sights. they were all VERY slight, but its still a 900 rifle. I got a SLR104UR when they were released and its in great shape, no cants or anything. Arsenal's milled line still seems to be doing fine, ive only had one of them in the past year but it was in good shape

2. You can buy decent boxes of 9x18 for 14-15 bucks. They aren't substantially cheaper than getting ammo for 9x19. In fact, since 9x18 is far less common and you will likely have to buy online and pay for shipping, you better buy in bulk

3. No, as long as you practice with your weapon and know how to use it. People who complain about it have a training problem, the mag release is not the issue

4. jgsales.com is selling bulgarian maks in excellent condition for 300. Pretty good deal, worth picking one up if you really want a mak.

I like maks. They're pretty decent guns, and they're cheap. I like carrying one during summer because it's small, even if it is a little heavy. I figure if I ever have to use it and the police end up taking it and screwing me out of a gun, at least it won't be hard or expensive to replace.

If it's all the gun you have, it's better than no gun at all.
If you want a home defense gun, get a shotgun or a rifle. Handguns suck at killing people.
If you're going to CC, a .38 will do, just make sure you get a good load that meets FBI qualifications for penetration, has good expansion and hope that you have the foresight not to get into a situation where you might have to use it.
