I'm pretty sure my friend is going to get shot at some point in the near future.
This friend is considerably... tan... His grandparents were born in a Syria that no longer exists. His parents moved to the US from Syria. He however was born in the US. This is only part of the problem.
This friend continuously says 'Allah Akbar' at some of the most inappropriate times. It has gotten to the point that I think it developed into a nerviness tick that he can't shake. After bringing it up with him he said he would stop, but hasn't. He just says 'shit sorry' after he says it now.
One example would be when we were moving into a new apartment. We were carrying a couch up a flight of stairs when we both tripped at which point he yelled Allah Akbar. The woman at the top of the stairs waiting for us to pass was horrified.
Another example would be when we were getting McDonald's™ and the person handing us the drinks dropped them and as you can guess my friend yelled Allah Akbar which pretty much turned the guy to stone until my friend said sorry.
The last example would be him just plain old yelling it in the apartment at random moments. This pretty much insures that literally everyone avoids us.
Nothing bad has happened yet besides people being scared shitless. No police have been called and no one ever confronted him. I'm just legit worried something may happen when he says it next to the wrong person at the wrong time.
So I just gotta ask the most unstable group of fun owners I know. Would you ever draw on or shoot someone who yelled Allah Akbar in a public place, specially in a situation where there was an accident or mistake of some kind?

Considering that the last time I heard about someone shouting 'Allah Akbar' in a public place, he ended up gunning down about fifty people, if I hear someone shouting that, not just saying but shouting, I'm going to be drawing on him. I don't think I'd shoot unless there was an obvious threat, but after what happened in that nightclub I sure as fuck wouldn't ignore it.

hi /k/, I'm posting this in the off chance that some ammo specialist or small arms repair specialist here knows about this stuff.
Here we go:
This particular frangible practice ammunition (white / green tip) is used for machine gun practice. These bullets are said to be made from compressed lead and a bakelite - type resin.
I have load data for 1/4 powder load that should work correctly for this projectile, and i am interested in making some plinky/training loads with this stuff; but my question is, do these projectiles cause any undue wear on a barrel? Did you guys have to swap out barrels more frequently when using the practice ammo in the M60/M219/what have you?
These appear to be quite different than the "green" frangible shit that is being used for lead-free handgun ammo and so on. Their function is to disintegrate on impact.
Another concern of mine is lead/resin dust causing issues in the firearm and in my lungs, but that's another issue.

So my father has a big birthday coming up and he is a huge WW2 history guy. For the last 25 years of my existence like most kids my sister and I have got him shitty gifts because that's what kids are good at. But this year I want to get him something he will truly like and cherish. Because of his huge love of WW2 history, mainly Band of Brothers and Easy Company. I was thinking about getting him a ww2 M1 Garand. It's time to pay him back for raising 2 successful hardworking children. My question is have any of you ever bought a gun as a present? What are some of the hurdles to expect? Any words of caution or advice are appreciated. Thanks.

In most states it doesn't matter, self defense is self defense, there is no "registry". And most vendors at gun shows do background checks.
Ask yourself the same question but replace "gun show," with, "neighbor," "brother," "friends." It's all the same in the eyes of the law, its a private sale. There is nothing illegal about buying a gun without a background check.
