I need more variety in my life
Nogunz here looking to get my first gun.
I don't have the money for an AR setup and enjoy the look of older, wooden stock rifles. After some research I've started looking at the SKS as my first choice.
As a college senior, it sucks hearing that these things were once <$100 but I've set aside about $400 to try and snag a good chinese or decent russian one.
Am I throwing my money away getting what used to be a cheap milsurp rifle for almost 400% of the price? Should I save up the extra money and try for an AR? Panic prices have already set in but I'm concerned about the upcoming election and what further effects that may have on prices. The gun show I'm next attending isn't until the beginning of October.
What do, /k/?
>>31346206
Build an AR.
>>31346206
Build a $500 AR
>>31346206
Wait a little longer, save and buy/build an AR. Seriously, you're looking at a few hundred dollars difference between a mediocre platform (sks) and arguably the best intermediate cartridge rifle
What do zookeeper's keep on hand?
>>31346180
Police officers are typically armed with a Glock22
>>31346180
Common bolt action and pump shotguns. .308, .30-06, 12 gauge. It varies depending on the zoo and which department. The zoo I used to work for had 3 weapons lockers with only the head of each department with a weapon locker having a key.
>>31346217
What does that have to do with the gorilla? Cops didn't shoot him, the zookeeper did.
Why aren't there more female shooters? :(
>>31346139
Cuz you're an ugly fedora.

because warfare is for men
f-35 performed its first live fire remote engagement using SM-6 last week.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deENa84hX14
Using its sensors it detected a target well beyond engagement range (because of the horizon) of ground/sea based AEGIS assets, and launched a ground based SM-6 at the target. This is fucking awesome if you understand the tech. It basically turns land/sea based missiles into the loadout of the F-35.
https://news.usni.org/2016/09/13/video-successful-f-35-sm-6-live-fire-test-points-expansion-networked-naval-warfare
For the royal navy- you guys should have bought mk 41 cells so you could integrate SM-6's and SM-3s. You're going to have to spend a lot of money to integrate this with the Type 45 and its weapons systems.
>>31346098
based
>>31346098
That kind of remote capability is why the USN needs to
1. Buy VLS LRASMs
2. Retrofit TLAMs with a terminal seeker
So you can have long range anti-ship attack.
Do not let them buy short range 1000lb NSMs and waste VLS cells!

thats currently happening.

Can someone give me a down to earth play by play on what the hell is going on in my state? I've read a bunch of legal jargon and before you ask: yes, I've signed the petition.
I've heard a bunch of different opinions from everywhere I've looked such and I need some /k/ommandos to break it down so I can prepare adequately.
Also discuss your plans to fight the inevitable establishment of FEMA Zone 6 and how we will fight Hillary's reptilian gun grabbing hordes.

Rifles with bullet buttons are now illegal. Go featureless or register your bullet buttoned rifle as an assault weapon, which must be turned in upon your death
Illegal to loan guns to friends and family members without a bg check
All grandfathered magazines over 10 rounds must be turned in or destroyed
BG check mandatory to buy ammo, no online sales, no buying of ammo from out of state
Stupid shit like that. Not that any of us are going to comply. I'm driving over to Nevada or Arizona to grab my magazines and ammo. Fuck the Bay Area democrats.
What about reloading components?
Can I just put one of those Jude's grips on and go featureless to ditch the bullet button?
Thanks a million

Does anyone know what it's like to be a logistics specialist in the navy?
>>31345745
Pretty good living compared to the other surface rates(jobs). What I'm about to say won't make sense until you go underway(out to sea) and understand how life works and how simple things make the biggest difference.
On a ship you'll have a good amount of working space, which means places to keep extra personal shit and places to hang out outside of the common areas like where you sleep and the mess decks. You are the sole division to go through to order parts and supplies, so, not only will you have things like working printers, office supplies, and extra crap, but you'll also be able to squeeze in extra shit like big ass TV's for your office. Also, on that note, having access to things like a working printer or even a 3-inch binder means a lot more than you can understand now. Plus, you are apart of SUPPLY DEPARTMENT, meaning you have a good connect to the other supply divisions, such as the cooks and store keepers.
In short, logistic specialist have some of the best working/living conditions compared to their counterparts.
love,
GM2(SW)

How effective are technicals as fighting vehicles?
>>31345492
They are transport vehicles with mounted weapons.
How do you think?
Well enough if everyone you're shooting at makes less than $1000/yr.
>>31345492
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-x9ykqGHI_0
effective about threefiddy percent of the time
>>31345492
On one hand, they lack any kind of armor. On the other, they're fast enough that you can be there and gone before the other guys have a chance to get their weapons.
So I live in PA, in a city, and lately, with some break-ins in my neighborhood, I've been thinking about getting a handgun for my house
I'm a total noob when it comes to this, so what do you guys recommend and WHY?
I am NOT looking for a shotgun
>>31345346
Real men buy revolvers. Glocks will make you shoot your own fingers and it's hard to aim an AR in the dark.
>>31345346
Im not familar with PA laws so I recommend you look into those first and foremost. Look at what you can get and what you can do with it, no sense in getting excited over something you might not get
After that go to any gun store and ask to handle a few. Try some variety. A revolver, a striker fired, a DA/SA, ect and a few different kinds of each. Get a feel for them and ask if there is a place you cant rent them to shoot
after you have a list of what you like (or more importantly what you dont), then do some more shopping and see what your options are in you area. Id say around 5-600 is a decent middle ground price range for a good handgun, maybe a few hundred put aside for accessories, a safe, mags, ect
really it just comes down to you doing the legwork and finding what you like. If youre unsure of something specific, then come back and ask
>>31345346
Why are you NOT looking for a shotgun?
Hey /k/, any favorite chemical weapons? Also, what would be an effective and user friendly method of dispersing mustard gas?
VX.
Really, dispersing chemical agents isn't that different from dispersing conventional rounds.
The one difference being that "danger close" is a lot farther away, on account of that whole wind thing.
Artillery and air should do just fine to distribute the payload, but there's no reason to use mustard gas if you have access to organophosphate nerve agents.
Its a shame that the Geneva Protocols prohibit the use of tear gas. If you've got a city surrounded, its far better to flush them out alive than napalm them all.
>>31345311
Hi isis/atf/fbi.
Shame on you for even mentioning mustard gas. Id rather be nuked.
This my problem solver right here.

Same here, Sony fucked over everyone waiting for mods and Bethesda. On a lighter note, that's my favorite weapon so far. I haven't finished the dlc but I've collected a few weapons and nothing compares to that beauty (except the splattercannon, its identical but you have to pay for it)
