How are these rifles, planning on plinking and maybe hunting.
I can reload so ammo is not a problem
>>
They are some of the finest milsurp rifles you can buy. Accurate, reliable and rugged. If you take ammo out of the equation there's no reason not to get one.
>>
Absolutely top tier
>>
>>31350305
not worth the modern price
was worth it up untill they broke 450usd
>>
>>31350305
Amazing, easily the best milsurp rifle i have.
Ive got a 1903a1 springfield and a 1917 enfield and it is way nicer than both of them.
>>
>>31350305
Overrated.
>>
>>31351982
Name a better one fampai.
Its cost is prohibitive now but really its a nice rifle.
>>
>>31352000
I genuinely prefer the Gewehr 11 in almost every way.

The K31 is just too fat for me, that's all.
>>
>>31352000
Gew 98.
Mas 36
No4 Mk1/2
1903/14

There's 4.
>>
>>31352516
>gew. 98
Any that ive found at k31 price has been of lower quality
>mas 36
The price is right but as fas as i know, not as accurate as a k31.
> enfield no.4
Finding a quality enfield atva decent price is hard man. Nice rifles for sure, i cant speak on accuracy of a cherry rifle though.
>1903/14
Eh the quality, mainly the finish, of a comparably priced k31 is better. Hard to find 1903s with original finishes ans stocks.

Those rifles are great, but imo the k31 accuracy is great for a milsurp rifle, a unique action does that for me too.
Mauser patern bolts are so boring.
>>
>>31352129
I agree, k31 is heavy as shit
>>
>>31352890
And it's wide as hell. It's the obese girl that gives 10/10 blowjobs of the gun world.
>>
>>31352915
I really need to shoot mine more.
>>
>>31352129
What's the difference between k11 and k31 except the size of the bolt and the location of the magazine?

Don't kid yourself, OP...

...it's a fun rifle to shoot. Like others have posted, it's probably one of the best milsurp rifles out there.

K31 bolt is shorter and stronger; receiver is thicker so stock is correspondingly thicker as well. This makes the wrist of the stock very wide to grasp; not so comfortable if you have small hands. The K11's rear sight starts at 300m; the K31's starts at 100m and sight radius is longer too.
>>

most on gunbroker start at 500 usd.

>>
>>31354320
The sights suck, it's action is a pain to take apart and put back together, it's NOT smooth. Sure the trigger is great and it's accurate, but that's all.
>>
>>31354011
>>31354123

I just like the feel of a thinner gun. The K31 is easily the fattest gun I've ever held. Fatness is also why I don't like the M1917 either.
>>
>>31354385
>The sights suck
About fucking time someone says it. K98 sights are better, and nobody sucks the dick for that gun's sights.
>>
I took my GP11 out a few weeks back. First time shooting rifles in a long while, and I shot it fairly well at 100 yards. I strongly recommend.

>>
>>31354142
Gunbroker is straight up full of scammers and price gougers. Classic firearms had a few in a few months ago and were selling them for $350. The Second they have another shipment in I'm picking one up.
>>
>>31354385
It's not nearly as smooth as as a mauser, derivative or enfield, you are correct. It pulls nice and smooth but it is clunky unless you are absolutely ripping on it and punching it back.
The bolt disassembly is a little funky compared to standard bolt actions but it's simple enough once you've done it a time or two.

I'd say it's best points were simply the quality of the barrel which more often than not were well maintained and lightly used. And the quality:cost ratio of the surplus ammunition that was available.

The fact that the bolt lacks any real safety lug aside from the take down latch and can fire out of battery if the handle is cracked is pretty off putting and not exactly confidence inspiring.

It was fun while the ammo lasted but it's been back to superior (and safer) designs for me.
>>
>>31354498
Tangent sights in general suck, but especially shallow V notch ones.
>>31354600
No. Truth hurts.
>>31354652
I'm sorry you can't handle the truth.
>>31354735
By all means, refute my statement.

It's not a bad gun, but it is incredibly overrated. It was, for a year or so, the next Mosin in terms of perception and popularity. I wonder how many years it will be until we can have a honest dialogue about the very real flaws it has.

I don't mind the sights but front sight adjustment blows on the K31. Mostly ran mine with clip on scope mount though.

Was my favorite rifle until I got my No4MkII.

Apparently you haven't even sighted down your own rifle. The K31 has a U rear notch and square front post; it's like a fatter SMLE sight picture.

If you aren't Swiss you'll have to reload. Granted, some 7.5x55 just came in but shipments are few and far between.

Just as a heads up, you cannot reload the surplus ammo.

>>31354385
Yeah, nah. I haven't had a problem with my sights, the bolt is easy to put back together and it's as smooth as any other bolt.

>sure the trigger is great and it's accurate, but that's all
If you don't think that makes it a gun great, I don't know what you want out of a gun.

I've seen you in other threads, you seem to just have a different opinion for the sake of it. But hey, you got a response out of me so good on ya.

GP11 is the ammunition. You talking about a K1911?
>>

You can reload the surplus ammo its very high quality brass.
It just takes more work or berdan primers.

I personally love mine. The trigger is incredible, especially when you consider it is a mass-issue military rifle. The bolt is neat, but unlocking requires a bit of force. If you give it a solid yank, you'll be fine, but if you try to baby it, you'll end up expending more effort than you need to. The standard sights are okay - honestly, I feel like they're the weakest point in the design, but they're a fairly standard notch and post. Personally, I put some diopters on mine, because it just increases the accuracy potential.

The ammo can be kind of expensive (~75cpr for PPU), but the surplus is fucking incredible. I picked up a couple of cases of GP11 for around 50cpr recently and I don't regret it at all. It's practically match ammo. If you're reloading, you can probably get a little more consistency.

Basically, it's a great rifle if you want something that is effectively a target gun in milsurp furniture.
