Are serrations useful on tactical knives, or knives that would see use by "combat operators" or whatever?
See pic related. Are these serrations practical in any way in the context of a "combat" knife? I'd imagine that they're only useful for rescue scenarios or cutting rope and doing technical tasks like that.
Just curious because most knives marketed towards this demographic have serrations. Is it practical, or just a meme?
>>31887766
>it can cut stuff better than just a straight edge
>is it useful?
No not in the least.
Are you implying that you only ever have to cut rope in rescue scenarios? Or that theres no utility to be had from being able to saw shit?
>>31887781
The fuck you going to saw with such a tiny worthless thing? Just get a ropesaw or something.
Spent 5 years as an active duty Marine RTO (Radio telegraph operator) or field radio operator in layman's terms. I went reserves in hopes of getting back in and going counter intel however my reserve unit won't sign off on it because the higher ups hate me for the most part since I was prior active. So now I'm thinking of going AF since:
1. It's cushy as fuck
2. Sign on bonuses for days
3. Because not as ridiculous bs.
I was told by the recruiter the only thing I could do was SF stuff. Is there any truth behind any of this? The 3 deployments to the middle east wrecked my knees and shoulders for me to try SF. Anyone know for a fact I have to do SF if I go Air Force?
>>31887759
your recruiter is a lying fuckstick
you can quote me on that
How do you know? Any references or anything?
Different anon here.
Can I get in the Air Force with an ELS from the army? Will it affect a security clearance?
I'm 21 years old, 6'4", 155 lbs. I handle a .22 with ease no problem, and my shoulder gets pushed back bout an inch with I shoot 12 gauge shotguns. Determining all that I listed /k/, which caliber is right for me?

Should I leave Australia to go to a country with more gun rights even if it means dealing with more dindus
>>31887594
More gun rights = more ability to deal properly with potentially life-infringing dindu incidents.
DYS?
Also, come on, it's not all that bad. Just avoid certain areas, unless you're planning on moving to Africa.
>>31887641
I was looking at moving to America but I really don't want to deal with blm riots, at least from the outside it looks like they're fucking shit up everywhere
>>31887697
the USA is big, very big, not every state is a shithole, you know.
Can you guys help me find extended clips for my Ak at a good price. Pic unrelated

No, I'm up because if I told anyone how I really felt and what I'd like to do about these feels, my life would have to come to an end anyway... Processing how to dispose of these feels...
All the mad max movies have them.
The book of eli has a couple.
Supernatural uses them all the time
Why? It just seems like a terribly impractical choice. Is it just because they look cool?
Yep.
You can delete this thread now.

Cool factor also, its short, useful in a prop.
>$210
>9 hour mandatory course
>5 week minimum wait
That's just to buy a gun. If you want to hunt it's also,
>$220
>16 hours of mandatory course
THANKS CANADA
seems reasonable enough
the course is simple as fuck I got 90 on the written and 100 on the practical
>>31887195
€500
>30 hours minimum course
>1 year waiting period
>requirements on storage of gun and ammo
>1 .22 weapon only for 1 year after the waiting period
Hunting is about €2500/3000 with a 50 hour course spread over several days with a written and practical test.
Such is life in Holland, so quit whining fellow /k/ommando
So /k/, I got my first Glawk 19 a few days ago.

Nigger I have Trijicon HD's on mine and love the fuck out of them.
>>31887196
I should probably just get some HD's. I like 'em on my 226 but I'm thinking I might want to try something else. I like the lower cost of some of the Ameriglo and Mepro options too
plus I know some of the Mepro's use Trijicon lamps
I've been out of the loop /k/omrades, what is the latest on the F-35/Gripen/Super Hornet faceoff that the Trudeau government brought back?
Last I heard it was looking shaky for the F-35 and the Super Hornet was looking more and more likely, and then people started mentioning the Gripen again, but this was back in June or July...
>>31887125
Why can't these useless cunts just choose a fucking replacement already? Are they worse than India yet?
They're becoming a joke.
>>31887351
I'm not shocked that it is taking so long. It's been years since I lived there, but I remember Canada's government achieving basically nothing in all the years I was there. They just seem to avoid making decisions. I stopped reading about the F-35 stuff when I got busy at my work during the summer season but now I was hoping to catch up. I guess nothing has changed?
>>31887125
There was talks of Canada buying Super Hornets (without a competition) to bridge a capability gap, similar to what Australia did. However, because the number wasn't specified, the capability gap argument came out of nowhere and because they wouldn't have been able to receive any Super Hornets for ~3 years after making a decision, it received a lot of political heat, with the opposition claiming they were just doing what Harper did, except without the DND's recommendation (the RCAF still want the CF-35).
Something to keep in mind too is that if any jet is picked as a capability bridge, it's going to immediately have an economic and timeline advantage in a competition; when Australia bought Super Hornets, they were already locked in getting F-35As, so it wasn't a factor. For Canada, getting Super Hornets now will very likely mean getting more Super Hornets later.
Anyway, apparently a decision is being made very soon, as to whether there will still be a competition, or an outright sole-selection (that could be hard to uphold), or if they do the capability bridging thing. As part of that, apparently General Bogdan and some others have gone to Canada, presumably to brief them on the F-35 (Lockheed, SAAB, etc had their requests to have meetings refused earlier this year, meanwhile Boeing had half a dozen or so).
Anyway, what happens is still up in the air; maybe they'll do the smart thing and get F-35s, maybe they'll go for Super Hornets to try and maintain relations but avoid going back on their election promise, maybe the Gripen will get a cost advantage and get picked for being cheap.
Personally I think it's roughly 50/50 between the F-35 and Super Hornet; Trudeau wants to appease the US militarily.
What is the point in this thing?
Why are there so many "filler" awards?
To make grunts feel good about themselves and to saturate officers' uniforms with more medals.
>>31887085
>implying grunts get awards
My last command didn't believe in awards. Didn't even get one for PCSing. I look like a fucking LT, all schooled out but no ribbons.
>>31887085
If anything, the absurd number of "showing up" awards seems to make many officer uniforms look tacky.

Hey /k/, I am officially no longer a nogunz faggot, just got my first AR-15 (M&P 15 Sport II), and will have an FN FNS9 by Saturday (lel IL waiting period)
I was wondering, should I invest in ear protection like pic related for when I go to the range, or are cheap earplugs acceptable ear protection? I will buy the over-the-ear ones if you say so, since I'd like to avoid paying for rental ear protection every time either way.
Also, how many mags should I stock up on for the impending race war? The shop I went to has composite 30rd AR mags for like $8 bucks a pop
>>31886958
I have the same impact sports, they're nice and low profile, but it's good measure to double up for safety. Since they have volume adjustment, you'll still be able to hear fine while protecting your hearing. HEARING LOSS IS GRADUAL, do not neglect wearing earpro. As for mags, buy a fuck ton, they're cheap. Hexmags look gay, magpul mags are ok tier, if you want to ball out get lancer smoke mags. You can see how many rounds you have left, they have the best grip texture, and the feed lips are metal.
Just buy any over- the-ear ones.
Yes, buy those earmuffss, they're great for cheekweld with your AR.
You'll love the fns if you learn to shoot it properly(as in learn your handgun fundamentals), and you'll probably end up building your own AR if you get into it enough, but have fun either way.
I want a new .22 Auto cos i fucking enjoy shooting them. Its not for defence, zombies, or dindos. Its just for fun. I fancy a buckmark. What is /k/'s recomendations?
If I were buying a .22 auto for shits and giggles, I'd get one of those scaled down 1911s.
>>31886890
Buckmark is solid. I've heard the Beretta Neos is good too.
>>31886890
There is a damn good reason most pick up a ruger mark series, throw in a volquartsen trigger, optic, change out springs etc.
It's so they can shoot 1" groups at 50ft why retards like >>31887259 wank off to their fake 1911.
crossbow thread? what /k/ think about this special weapons
>>31886845
Tbh I never got the allure of them. I like shooting bows, and I like shooting guns. Crossbows (to me a least) just feel like some combination of the two that fail to capture the best of both. What is your purpose for it? I know some people like them for hunting before rifle season.
>>31886845
Pretty quiet alternative to both. It was probably easy to make and use by the common man way back when, before guns. Other than that, I don't use mine at all really.
Any good reasons why crossbows are prohibited in some countries and states, yet high powered compound bows and broadheads are completely legal to possess?
