So I realized my minuteman kit lacks a pair of boots. I know next to nothing about boots, my father gave me a set of "Vietnam jungle boots" about 20 years ago, and they have run their course. There is hardly any tread left on them at this point.
So I'm looking to get a fancy new space age pair of boots. I was eyeballing a pair of Oakley Light Assault 2's.
I also want to get some fancy new socks for my fancy new boots.
Any recommendations /k/omraden?

I was looking at these, but they are both pricey and lacking in green colour.
Boots are prob the most important aspect, so if I had to buy them, I would. I'd be interested in seeing what others on here reckon as well.

If money is no object, and you're willing to wait a bit...
US allies advancing on Mosul rapidly.
Rus allies can't take Aleppo in years.
Burgers: 1
Vatniks: 0
>>31883468
Yeah, it's pretty easy when you're the one controlling the terrorists and funding them in the first place
>>31883468
I don't think the russians intend to take Aleppo but rather just flatten it to the ground until there's nothing left. They are basically taking the krieg approach.
>Several artillery and siege companies began to bombard the city spires and the inhabitants were mercilessly gunned down as they tried to break out from the besieged city. After ten standard years of relentless shelling, the hive was reduced to naught but rubble and dust, two years after all signs of life from the hive had already ceased and five years after the hive had plaintively issued its unconditional surrender.
>>31883468
For starters The lines are a lot more blurred in Aleppo, its not the same killing field for the Russian Air force in the way Mosul is for America where they can safely blow up any thing that moves without worrying about it being friendly, at least until the Iraqis actually enter the city.
Secondly the rebels in Aleppo are almost equal in weaponry and numbers to the SAA where as Mosul is a case nearly 100,000 US allies taking on around 5000 ISIS militants.
Thirdly the FSA and co. enjoy at least some sizable level of local support where as ISIS has largely fallen out of favor among the Iraqi population meaning they can't replace loses and embed themselves as well as the FSA in Aleppo
Im sure if the SAA could surround a city with around 100,000 men and massive air support from Russia against a force of about 5000 FSA they could do the same thing but they can't.
tl;dr they're not comparable and you're retarded
I now have 25 more AK pattern pistol grips than last time, for a total of 56. What do?
Mold them in to a super grip
keep collecting and build a battle suit out of them
Would old WWI style tanks, such as a British Mark V (pick related), be viable in the urban combat zones in the Middle East? What if it was manufactured with modern equipment and metallurgy, and given thicker armor?
The Sposons should allow for the careful protection of the tank from all angles, and give it the ability to engage multiple targets at once. Especially because of how far engine power has advanced. (according to wikipedia, these things were run with 150 hp)
It's slow and unreliable as fuck.
Its design is a hundred years old, it's far obsolete by now.
>>31883368
Go home Civ 5, youre drunk.
>The Sposons should allow for the careful protection of the tank from all angles
Except you know, to the direct front of the tank.
Or to any elevation to the sides of the tank.
Or to the entire rear of the tank.
Oh and that massive exposed elevated track, that's not RPG food at all.
What's that? Nice flat front with the driver sitting at the perfect height to be hit with every incoming shot? Sounds great.
Let's try something different tonight

Hey /k/, I hope to later collect historical and antique rifles. Don't know all too much, but hope to get a mosin. What rifles would you all recommend to start collecting?
An IWI Tavor would be a good start.

Get a good Lee Enfield No.4 Mk 1. Some say Long Branch arsenal made the best ones because Canada wasn't constantly getting bombed to shit or made them under threat of getting bombed to shit.
After that, look for an Israeli Mauser K98 which will be chambered in 7.62x51 (.308 Win) instead of the harder to find 8mm Mauser. I guess everyone should also own at least one SKS.
>>31883324
Stay away from the Mosin. Unless you just feel like pissing away $500 then yeah go for it.

Bad News: AAG won't be ready until February. They landed a Super Hornet on it a few weeks ago, so at least we know it works, but it won't be ready for actual operations until then. So we're probably looking at a March induction at the earliest.
More Bad News: The radar and the weapon elevators still need more testing. Those could probably be done during the initial shakedown cruise though.
Good news: EMALS is ready to go (that could have been really fucking bad if it didn't work) and the MTGs are almost fixed. Everything else on the ship is done.
Isn't this to be somewhat expected with a brand new ship class and a whole bag of new/improved technologies?
>>31883162
Yes, but why care about such things when one can scream "memeboat" and "lol burgers btfo" instead?
>>31883146
Redpill me on what the AAG and MTG was again?
>>31883204
AAG is the new arresting system. The old hydraulic system can't catch aircraft as light as UAVs. AAG will be able to catch them, and will also have a lighter touch with other aircraft, which will help with airframe lifetime.
The MTGs are the turbine generators. They had shit voltage regulators which weren't letting them spool up to full power and caused some damage to the turbines during the summer.
More like this, please. This is pretty much the only of it's kind I have, otherwise I'd bump with more
......guess the Hi Power one isn't far off

I was told a story by my father last year about a great uncle that served in WW1. The story goes
>Your great uncle served in WW1 but never would talk about it. I often pestered him for a story but he would just be dismissive.
>Only once did he tell a story about the war and it was never spoken of again. He was fighting in the trenches and spoke of being bombarded for days and men passing out from exhaustion. A few hours after the bombing stopped a call went out that a gas attack was incoming. Most got their mask one and then began to help others. Some died in their beds to exhausted to rise.
>after taking a german trench a room was found with gore overflowing. It was determined that the Germans were running out of ammunition and where rendering the fat of their fallen soldiers for explosives.
I cannot find reference of this in my searches. Whats your opion /K/?
>after taking a german trench a room was found with gore overflowing. It was determined that the Germans were running out of ammunition and where rendering the fat of their fallen soldiers for explosives.
holy fucking shit, that's metal as fuck
>>31883101
>the Germans began to amuse themselves by putting a bullseye on a biscuit box and letting us use it for a target. We then returned the compliment and set up a similar bullseye for the Teuton boys
>Sergeant Pichette was a wag. He put an old derby on a stick and ran along the trench as if it were a man, and the Germans fired at it. He would pull the hat down occasionally to make the enemy believe that the man under it had been shot, but soon afterward he would raise it again
>One day the Germans threw over a bit of paper wrapped around a stone. "If you don't fire on us, we won't fire on you," some one had written. We kept that strange pact for days, until the officers, discovering this pact of peace, moved us to another part of the trenches
>Some months later, curiously enough, we found ourselves opposite the same regiment. Steadfastly we kept our treaty of peace they kept moving a regiment from one part of the trenches to another, that we might not get too friendly with our enemies. We had no heart in the butchery

>Be a soldier in WWI, fighting in the trenches. Supplies barely get through, hunger and cold are life.
>Die from something. Get butchered for my fat
>Jokes on you fuckers! All that work, almost no fat left.
I'm not saying it didn't happen, just seems like a better use of energy would have been flinging rotted human remains at the enemy through crude mechanical contraptions.
Now if you told me this was done by modern American armed forces, I would believe that the fat to effort ratio would justify the horror.
In the market for AR-15. What are the best manufactures in your opinion? Thoughts on Olympic and Panther?
>>31883046
Olympic is alright. Middle of the road quality wise.

Anything good for a beginner AR? I live in Jersey, and am a bit poor. Have between 4-500 to spend.
Is it legal to import 30 Round AKM mags from Russia to the US?
Do you need a special license to do so?
>>31882581
I'm going to assume no, with the trade embargo and all.
Some people in Ukraine sell them to us in the states by sending two boxes, one with springs and followers and one with mag bodies and floor plates. Gets around any potential customs seizure.
>>31882581
we should all get russian pen pals
its almost christmas time....
How come the US doesn't do cool military parades (tanks and shit) like Russia, China, and DPRK?
American parades are lame pass and review BS. Not even goose stepping.
our military is actually out fucking shit up so they don't need this meaningless show of dick waving

The US doesn't do military parades since the Gulf War.
Military parades are meant for controlling the populace.
Looking to buy my first AR15 soon, got a budget of $1500. Any recommendations on brands or whatever?
build your own instead of buying one. You'll thank me later
buy one instead of building your own. You'll thank me later
1) SKS and shit tons of ammo
2) VEPR and lots of ammo
3) build your own
4) buy a complete lower, upper, pin them
Seriously, build your own. Lurk in /arg/ to see what some anons have built. Giddy just dropped a parts list of two full builds. See if an anon has a screencap.
