Let's get comfy, /k/.
How was your day? Anything interesting go on? Just feel like talking? Come on in.
Also, what are you drinking tonight? Came home and to my dismay I was outta Jack, so fell back on whatever was cheap. Hence, Busch.
In, I always love these threads. No drinking tonight, tomorrow though and get to spend time with the girlfriend.
Now time for a question. Recently I've decided to fall back on drinking as my outlet, due to the fact I think Form 4473's will be void if I have a possession/drug charge of any kind.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but question 11A states unlawful users of drugs, correct? So (I have no record whatsoever) were arrested for possession of marijuana, would I not be able to purchase firearms through an FFL anymore? Does that go for private sales as well? I've always been curious, also, wouldn't it void your LTCH permit?
Went to class.
Sat on my ass.
Went to the gym this morning, waiting for my A2 lower parts kit in the mail, the usual self loathing because I know the person I love will never love me. They're married to someone else and when I told them how I felt, I just got told off. I'm better off dead anyway.
Thinking about getting some tactical gear, even though I've spent way too much on stuff this week. Maybe for Christmas.
Like always contemplating joining up because life after college really does not sound appealing to me. Not that I don't want to work, just that if my days working are anything like now, they're going to be fucking boring as hell. Problem is I'm out of shape and overweight.
All I have to drink right now is Redhook ESB and about ten pints of Iron Maiden's Trooper. But I've stopped drinking beer to help get healthier and lose some weight, and to help with cardio.

Me too anon. I was surprised there wasn't one. As for your question, I haven't the slightest clue. But I'm glad you're here. Settle in and drink some Hoppes for the ultimate experience.
Rumor is that Turkey wants Mosul.
What would that war look like? Turkey vs Iraq. Would Russia get involved? What sort of gear would we see being used?

I'm pretty sure Turkey would become like Iran-tier isolated inside of a week.
Like, the US might actually get pissed enough to 1991 them out of Iraq if asking nicely doesn't work.
Meh. Let them take the muslim burden. Nothing of value would come of it. They just want to be Ottomans again
(based on a recent, true story)
You're at your outdoor gun range. This is an open range, membership only, with no range master in a rural area. You're at the 100 yard rifle range, shooting your X. To your immediate right (imagine the picture is your view, off to the right of the picture) is a family at a clay target thrower. There is a father in his 40's, and three sons, one is a late teenager, one early teens, one about 10 years. They have one long barreled shotgun between the four of them, and have been shooting clays that are thrown not exactly parallel to you, but about 30 degrees angled towards your 100 yard targets.
A cease fire is called between you and the family so you may walk down to the 100 yard target and replace your target. The father yells, "clear!" and signals you can walk down.
You staple your target to the 100 yard plywood target stand, and start walking back. At about 50 yards, you hear a gunshot from their direction, and the sound of birdshot pellets ripping through the trees about 10 yards to your left. The eldest son is holding the shotgun in his hands. You currently are carrying a subcompact 9mm pistol (with which you are well versed) in a 10+1 fashion in a conceal carry holster on your dominant side. You have a spare magazine on your nondominant side.
TIME TO MAKE A DECISION! DO YOU:
A) ignore them, walk back to your rifle, pretend it didn't happen
B) walk back to your bench, and at some point mention to the father to be careful next time
C) walk towards them, ask for the father's name and information and report them to a club officer
D) draw your weapon at low ready, approach them, tell them to drop the firearm, then call the police
E) draw your weapon, DEUS VULT/AVE NEX ALEA/CHEEKI BREEKI and open fire
F) something else.

A or B, depending.
Im assuming at this point the father would whoop his sons ass with his own gun, in which case A. If he does nothing about it, then yeah, B. Just so i can have a word with him.
A/B depending on whether it happens again
Report them to a club officer even if I don't know their name. Sounds like this place is pretty small and the people would know all the members.
D and E are people just trying to troll, or are "memeing" now

Walk to them via far out of their way as not to become cheese and then b and threaten to c or last part of d next time
>A littoral combat ship commissioned in September has sustained a second hull crack within a month -- this time while passing through the Panama Canal. The damage occurred Oct. 29, when the USS Montgomery, one of the Independence-class trimaran-variant ships made by Austal, was moving south through the Gatun and Pedro Miguel locks of the canal en route to its new San Diego homeport, 3rd Fleet spokesman Cmdr. Ryan Perry said. USNI News first reported the incident.
>The ship continued its transit, he said, and has now completed passage through the Panama Canal. It will arrive in San Diego later this month. The Montgomery, which was commissioned Sept. 10, received a minor hull crack Oct. 4 after apparently colliding with a tugboat after being told to sortie from Naval Station Mayport, Florida, ahead of Hurricane Matthew's landfall. The damage resulted in a minor leak, according to Naval Surface Force Pacific officials, but the crew was able to contain the seawater intrusion.
>The Montgomery is one of five littoral combat ships that have sustained damage or engineering casualties out of eight total that have been delivered to the Navy. In response to this rash of casualties, Navy officials in September conducted an engineering stand-down and retraining for all littoral combat ship crews and launched a comprehensive review of engineering practices. The results of that review have yet to be made public.

Sun's only like the size of a quarter. How much damage could it do?

When the man comes around you have two options:
1. Boating accident
or
2. Blaze of glory
Which do you choose and why?
I'm leaning towards boating accident, you know, since I go fishing a lot and I have the dropsies.

Well if Jesus is telling me I need to give up my guns I guess I'd have to.
M1 carbine, should I get one? I like the action style and they're aren't crazy expensive. Has anyone shot the para version, is the stock horrible?
>>31892832
Be careful with the 70's repros, from what I've heard they can take a bit of work due to smaller parts of the gun having quality issues. Sights and the like. Can be made into decent shooters though.
It's a fun and neat little gun, but fires a relatively anemic round and isn't useful for much other than plinking/range fun or collector value.
Personally, if I ever really got the itch, I'd just go all in and get an actual wartime-production example, but that's just because the gun doesn't pull me like it does to some people. If you like it, the repros aren't bad for the price you can find them at, but in terms of practicality (and if you still need the Garand action) then a Mini-14/30 would be a better option (though more expensive).
Para stock seems cool, but honestly I'd much rather just go with the fixed-stock version, especially if it's a reproduction.
>>31892912
My dad has a mini 14, doesn't do it for me really and mags are annoying and meh. It's Luke a 38special I've heard in terms of power. I've got plenty of practical firearms so now I'm just grabbing up fun neat guns.
>>31893187
Then I'd say it's not the worst purchase you could make, and even if it's a reproduction, if it ends up being problematic you could still probably sell it for the price you paid for it or close.
It's a neat design, and I like the look. Hell, this is America, you don't need any more reason than "I want to."
I know what you mean about the mini-14 though, my dad has one too and I like it but I'd like it a lot more if it was priced lower and they hadn't decided to go with rock-in mags for whatever stupid reason.

How much roughly does a US Army Combat medic (68W) pack weigh?
I recently swore in to the US Army but found out that because I'm a green card holder my shipping date has been bumped back from November to June next year.
I'm going to use the time to get fitter and study up and I was hoping to start rucking with a weighted pack just to start to acclimatize myself for the long distances and I was wondering how much their packs weigh.
Also any general Combat medic stories?
>>31892632
Not a 68w myself but ive worked with plenty of them as an 11b. The combat medics that actually make it to the line are usually in better shape than their infantry counter parts, and if they are not they are swiftly removed from being on the line. A 60 lbs dry ruck would be sufficient for training. Doing 4 miles in an hour would be the minimum standard, but if you want to make it to the line i would aim for quicker.
>>31892826
60 lbs sounds reasonable, I mean I have nearly 8 months to get fit before I even get to basic so I think by then hopefully I'll be up to a standard that I can be attached to the front line units which is what I'm aiming for.

Guns aren't magic, people made them before Calculus existed. Anyone who qualifies to go to mars could do the math (at the very least) to design one.
Can any American explain why Russia, with a few dozen aircraft and a small fraction of US resources, has been so successful in bringing ISIS to the brink of defeat? The USA has failed in just about every military operation since WWII and has proved completely incapable of defeating insurgent forces anywhere.
