I'm having some issues with a scope on my little plinking .17 hmr where the scope has gotten a little hazy. I'm not quite sure what has caused it or how I could fix it, but I can give photos. Has any other anons had this issue?
>>32279624
Dust has gotten on the inside, happens all the time
Just take a punch and a brass hammer, and punch one of the edges of one of the lenses
You might have to hit it pretty hard to get it to pop loose depending on how new it is but it should come out, then you can get in there and clean it up
>>32279624
Either the argon purging failed or your scope was so shit that it was never argon purged to begin with.

Have you tried decreasing magnification? I also have a BSA Sweet 17. At full magnification with the shade attached everything is grey and hazy. It just lacks the light transmission of a finer scope. Try shooting without the shade attached as well. It really only should be used in the brightest sunlight.

Take a shittier picture next time.
Also, if you didn't spend so much time finding the gayest muzzle brake available, maybe you could have bought non-plastic sights

IF you had to go into the woods by yourself in a SHTF scenerio what would your ideal loadout be?
For me
Ruger Gunsite Scout .308 - 200 rounds of ammo
Glock 10mm - 200 rounds of ammo
Ruger MKIII - 1000 rounds of ammo
The idea here is that the glock is for close encounters and bears, the .308 is for big game and long range encounters, the MKIII is for small game, which would be the majority of my shooting.
Yes an AR or battle rifle would be better but I wouldn't want something I'd have to dunk in lube every few days. I'd want something light, reliable and accurate. I'd need space for stuff other than guns and ammo
the glock isnt necessary plus the 400 rounds of 308 and 10mm will be heavy. neither is 1000 rounds of .22 necessary. you might use 150 shooting at game before you die.

so what you're saying is bait thread?
Is this the daily noguns thread?
What are some good, relatively cheap swords that are not too difficult to buy, and are actually effective for self-defense? What are trusted manufacturers who make good product? I'm in the US.
To address some objections:
1) Yes, a gun is better, but then you have to go through some legal hoops.
2) Yes, one isn't going to go walking around town with a sword most likely - but for home defense it might be good.
Go to Kult of Athena.com. Despite the funky name, they have good prices and great customer service.
Then look for anything that strikes your fancy that says BATTLE READY next to it. That's sword geek speak for 'you could actually go to a battlefield in this era and kill tin cans full of meat with it.'
PS: Stay away from Depeeka. They're too heavy again by half -- fucking clubs.

What is /k/'s opinion on lasers? It's one thing to focus on your front sight at the range, but a totally different beast when you have a moving target that you may have only split-seconds to hit under extreme stress. When your life is in danger, your focus would probably be drawn to the threat, not your sights. And even if you could focus on your sights, I doubt you would be able to track a moving target as easily as just making sure a laser dot is pointing at him.
>All of this is only my opinion as of now. Convince me not to buy a Crimson Trace for my Glock.
they're fucking cool and its fun to point them at shit but not into your eyes
>>32279222
>tfw as a kid we played with laser pointers and my right eye is permanently fucked from it and now I need to shoot left handed.
>>32279215
Save your money brother - and I say that from having bought into the hype and got Crimson Trace grips for my Sig P-229 back in the day I used to dry fire practice all over the house with that thing when I first got them. In that aspect, it was cool, but it didn't tell me a damn thing about how well I was actually shooting ( more on that in a minute ).
After about, maybe 6 months, I noticed that the red dot had become more of a red splash, it was well over the size of a quarter. So, I contacted Crimson Trace, sent them back and they sent me a new pair. Apparently the glass they used at the time, would be affected by the hi density light of the "laser".
Okay, fair enough - the new one worked well and I carried it that way for a couple of years.
So, I am at the range one day with a good friend, a much older guy who had done a TON of shooting his day and he says to me "You know that damn hi tech toy points TWO ways don't you?"
See, there in lies the problem. A bad guy will be able to see, not only where you are, but also what angle you are firing from. Anyone with any training is going to be able to assess the situation and find cover based on that information in a PDQ motion when their life is on the line. Then you are hung out to dry as they know right where you are and can start shooting back.
My vote would be save your money.

/k/, I have a blank wall in my room. It used to be covered with a few posters and stuff like that. But now I'd like to put up a map of Nam during the war, with notes and things around it. Kind of like something you'd see in a field HQ.
I need /k/ to dump documents, pictures, maps, notes, anything Nam related that might look cool up on my wall.
Pic related

Anyone got anything? Maybe I should try another board?
I got a lot of photos. Not too many documents, though.
A2's are sexy as fuck, way sexier than M-forgeries, but for some strange reason, nobody ever stocks a 20" upper with basic round handguards anymore. It's all 16" and shorter or some weird keymod shit for attaching bullshit to my rifle that I couldn't give two fucks about.
Why the fuck not? I want to build a 20" fucking AR, /k/. Why are they making this bullshit so fucking hard for me?
Probably because no one wants 20" A2 upper assemblies anymore.
>>32278503
I know PSA makes flat-top A4 complete uppers, as do a couple of other companies. Can't think of anyone that does a proper fixed carry handle A2 upper, though. If you want that, you're pretty much forced to build from individual parts.
Could be worse, though. I'm planning an M16A1 clone build, and...yeah.
Either way, it's a shame. Simple 20inch AR's are tragically underrated. IMO, there's a ton of merit to a full-length AR that isn't weighed down by a bunch of tacticool bullshit. Fuck, an A1 is barely over 7lbs. That's stock M4 territory.
>>32278566
You going to do a slab side? Those are sexy as hell, too.
Anyone own or interested in a Ruger Gunsite Scout? Far as I can tell it's just a bolt action m14. I've been looking at getting it but reviews are nonexistent and local gun stores don't have one for me to fingerfuck.
>>32278386
This is at the top of my wishlist too.
It looks great and I'm sure it works, but if I wanted a scout rifle I'd probably go with the Savage Model 11. IIRC it's a couple hundred dollars cheaper and you're going to want that money for whatever scope you decide to put on it.

Be honest with me /k/; that's the headline of one of Israel's largest newspapers. A rough translation will be "the mightiest air power" (a word play on the F35's Hebrew name "Adir"-"mighty one").
Were we Jewed? Is this Obama's last middle middle finger sent to the Jews? Or were we fed memes and an air force consisting mostly out of various F15s and F16s will receive a significant boost to it's superiority?
Stupid goyim. The Jews know what is best for your people.
