Is there any point in having removable magazines on bolt action rifles?
It's not like you are quick firing a rifle that is made for accuracy and shots that count.
Having removable mags on bolt guns is as useful as having fixed mags on modern semi auto guns.
What does /k/ think?
usually mag removal is for cleaning and maintenance only.
though civilian guns don't feed by stripper clips. so you usually take the mag out to load it by hand.

Could have and not need or need and not have
>>32280911
It's good for hunting. Just pop the mag out when you're in your car/truck or transporting the rifle, or where you aren't permitted to have it loaded. Pop it in when you need to shoot/are legally permitted to have your rifle loaded.
The other advantage is that you don't have to worry about damaging the bullet tips by loading and unloading them from a fixed mag.

Welcome to AK pattern rifle, tovarisch. Even if yours is a pale imitation
When did the whole 'banning citizens from owning weaponry' meme start?
I know the Japanese banned swords from citizens ages ago. Could peasants own swords? When did the west start banning weapons?
Most of it came down to cost.
If you were say, an English archer, you'd probably get some cheap stamped sword but for a "nice one", you'd need to have some coin, and a general reason to have it.
Reason being that you're some sort of knight or some such that actively goes out and fights.
Not sure about the Vikings or other areas, probably would explain the proliferation of axes and things that could double as a tool.

Sup /k/, poorfag noguns here. So my local store has a 4" XD 9 for only $400 and i literally have about $430 of spending cash. I've read reviews and everyone seems to like theirs. Any input would be appreciated. Some other deals at this shop are:

FNS-9 for $469

/k/ in a nutshell
Hey /k/omrads I was firing my SKS earlier and tulammo kept giving a fail to feed jam. I put 10 rounds of Winchester through with no problem so I'm under the impression it has to be the ammo.
Anyone here ever run into something like this? Or maybe a better alternative to Tula?
Never used Tula, just Brown/Silver Bear. Guns in general seem to have certain rounds they prefer or hate. Not sure about the AK since it eats just about anything, but others have rounds they like better.
I've shot tula through at least 7 sks rifles (Russian, Chinese mil, Chinese export, yugo) and never had a problem. You using the stock box mag? Also, HP's will give finicky guns more problems.
>>32280191
So was it a fail to feed or failure to return to battery?? An SKS should have no problems with steel.
Recommend me a .357. I kinda like the GP100, but lacking any experience beyond my dad's colt python, I don't really know what to look for.
The gun wouldn't be for carry, 'cept maybe innawoods.
The GP100 is damn good. I traded my sp101 for a gp100 since I have gorilla hands. The Smith 686 series is awesome too. Not a colt guy. I've shot my uncle's Python quite a bit. It's nice but his is nickle plated and seems to be too fancy for me. I tend to stay away from guns that you want to polish constantly.
>>32280186
the GPs & SPs in common chamberings (.38spec, .357mag, etc) are well-made guns.
sp101 is my edc. 4+ years
..trigger job recommended
>>32280186
I like the GP100. Recoil is very manageable with .357 and it's more accurate than I am. Came with fully adjustable rear sight. Feels solid and I've had no issues with the finish either. Breddy gud gun, the only thing I don't like is the rubber grip with wood inserts, it fits my hand fine but looks tacky as hell. Not really an issue though since plenty of people make wood grips for them.
Empty Mag
Bolt doesn't lock back.
>>32280023
Short stroked action if not locking back after last shot, use hotter ammo
If bolt just doesn't lock back, could be a mag issue, try a different mag.

While you all are at it today my ar started doing this thing where it will fire a round but the bolt carrier group won't even move back at all and I have to use the charging handle to manually eject the round and cycle a new one. What could the problem be? My gas tube?

Despite being huge predators, seals are pretty docile. Which begs the question, why haven't we domesticated and weaponized them yet?
>>32279989
Do they understand the concept of pointing? This is what distinguishes animals that can be useful to humans for purposes other than pack animals or labor (which seals wouldnt be very good at).
>>32280020
I think they at least understand the concept of RIP AND TEAR.
>>32280057
Not the same species at all, this one is fierce and solitary.
I' sure it's already possible to put them some cyber shit in the brain to control them like a drone. It would be unpopular but fuck off!
How are AR's in cold weather?
>>32279987
passable but not great have to change how you lube em
Horrible, 556 can't penetrate snow.
>>32279987
Like any other extreme temp, depends on your lube. Dont pull a Germany and use lube that freezes in the winter.
Fuck you.
Looking to get a gun for home defense and the desert eagle has caught my eye, so I was wondering how hard is it to get one here.
>>32279978
Not very hard at all, I'm down in South Florida and there's like 2 shops withing 10 minutes of me that have them
>>32279978
They generally come in matched pairs. That a problem?

Got my CC, looking into handguns now. What would /k/ recommend? Preferably semi auto, I like the aesthetic of revolvers, but let's be honest, they really just don't compare.
And preferably S&W

But not required
Was looking into an m&p 9 full size
The compact just doesn't fit my hand well. What do you guys think?
>>32279658
I just got home from the LGS with this exact gun. I put a box through it at their range. I read and watched every video I could find on this gun before buying it. People tend to not recommend this gun for carry because of the size and the beaver tail. They say it sticks into your side. I think it is mostly fat fucks complaining about it poking their love handles. Also the gun in your pic is the thumb safety model. You will probably want the one without it.
>>32279887
Yeah that's the one I have in mind. Just didn't feel like looking for a stock photo without the thumb safe. Don't really mind the size, but we'll see if it ever becomes an issue, which I doubt.
For me, it is the Glock. The best striker fired pistol.
