Why was conscription necessary for a conflict in, almost exclusively, low supply areas where you can have a, reletivly, limited number of troops on the front lines at once. Would it not have been a better idea to have exclusively motivated volunteer units?

Vietnam was fought by something like 75% volunteer troops. Only about 25% of muh greatest generation volunteered for WW2

Vietnam wasn't only conflict around back then. They had a minor thing called the Cold War to deal with. US conscripts mostly served in units in US or forward deployed into places like Germany, Korea, Japan and so on. Places with lower change of lead poisoning. Another place for conscripts were non-combat units in Vietnam.

Gun-user reporting in.
I have no clue how the military works.

My question, possibly a bit too specific, is the following one:
>how many operative infantrymen are there in one single armed force?

Possibly, we might want to narrow down the question:
>I am not talking of deployed troops in general (which includes petty officers, chefs, etc.)
>I am talking of people who are meant to see the action (e.g. patrol, search and destroy, etc.)
>This doesn't mean *all of them* have seen actual actions. But they must be ready
>Although my focus is on infantry, I believe different countries have different rules or armed forces (e.g. Carabinieri, Marines, etc.)

My tentative answer:
>5-10% of all soldiers are OP

Would that be accurate?

I would love to get answers from all over the world.

Kind of unrelated but if you're a Maori man are you required by law to get siqq tats?

I don't know, mate. I've been in NZ four times and it seems widespread among the Maori populace. 80% of them are more awesome than cool anyway, so I don't really have a problem with that.

Let's have a thread to talk about these guns from the metro series. More specifically I wanted to know how the fuck this shotgun works. In game it's made from bicycle parts, but could this actually work?

Like a revolver.

>In game it's made from bicycle parts, but could this actually work
Yes, The only thing I don't like is how you load it, to load the first round, slide the barrels forward, load, slide back, flip to left side, load, flip to right side, load. also there is no unload animation.

This is pretty neat actually. I say mostly functional because there's no pressure gauge, and it's single shot.

So how would /k/ improve on his design?

Pic unrelated.

Decent. Watching the video shows he put far more thought into its construction than the guns appearance would suggest. I wouldn't have bothered with the homemade valves and shit and just used store bought parts, but I guess for what its meant to emulate, his method is better.

I'm from CT where there is a maximum magazine capacity of 10 rounds. Is this something that can change under the Trump administration? Is it likely to change?

If this does not change, could you all recommend the best 9mm concealed carry guns that hold 10 rounds? I want the most rounds I can legally carry in the smallest profile.

Yes.

No.
>If this does not change, could you all recommend the best 9mm concealed carry guns that hold 10 rounds?
Subcompact double stack or compact single stack, depending on how you carry. Which one literally does not matter at all.
>I want the most rounds I can legally carry in the smallest profile.
You're better off getting 10 beefier rounds in a normal package
>>
>>32847215
There would need to be a challenge to the state law, it would need to progress to the supreme court, and the supreme court would have to rule state magazine limits unconstitutional. I don't expect that to occur

I'm practicing my handgun aiming with a airsoft spring pistol. I bought it because it cost as much a single trip to the range, and I can practice a lot of basic stuff before I waste money on real bullets.

I fired 60 plastic BB's today. I shot a 5 cm radius circle from a distance of 6 m.

Almost half of my BB's hit this big hole right above my target.

Should I correct this error aiming lower than my target or improve my trigger control (which I thing is the cause of my error)?

Also, when do I know I'm already taking the most out of the airsoft pistol and should start practicing with real guns?
8 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>32846292

I think the value of the airsoft pistol really comes in with draw training, target acquisition, changing targets, and trigger control. If you'e got a gas-operated one, that might help with recoil control. BBs are inherently inaccurate, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Keep aiming at the center of teh target, because the issue is probably from the gun and bb hop-up instead of from the shooter.
>>
>>32846292
Airsoft aside, practicing with a particular gun is not wholly applicable to another gun. Sure there's general stance, alignment, etc... things. But all guns (as in beyond 'all guns' which are a certain model, I mean each individual gun) have their own little quirks, so even if we both have the same model of gun, and we swap, we're not going to be shooting as well as we would with our own.

Airsoft is ok I guess if you want to practice your stance, or grip, or draw to fire or something. Although If you have a 'real' gun, you're better off practicing with that. Also like mentioned earlier, beyond the very basics, 'shooting skill' is not directly transferable between different guns of the same model. So practice with real guns.
