For those wishing to arrive early so they can get a full night's sleep Thursday, I recommend using one of the local hotels in Palestine, TX which are only about 30 minutes away. There are several for under 60 dollars which isn't much if you're rooming with another /k/ommando.

I'll just sleep in my car on the side of the road.
Can't wait to come to this. I wish virped had meetups like this too!
https://news.usni.org/2017/01/31/cruiser-uss-antietam-runs-aground-tokyo-bay-spills-oil
>The Ticonderoga-class cruiser USS Antietam (CG-54) ran aground on Tuesday in Tokyo Bay resulting in an oil spill, two Navy officials confirmed USNI News.
>The ship – part of the Navy’s forward deployed forces – was in the process of anchoring in the bay when it ran aground and damaged its props. Antietam was unable to maneuver on its own and was brought back to into port with tugs.
>“There were no injuries to U.S. or Japanese personnel. The incident did result in the discharge of hydraulic oil into the water,” read a statement from U.S. Pacific Fleet provided to USNI News.
>One official told USNI News that the cruiser lost hundreds of gallons of oil.
Why.
>>32851670
Well that's embarrassing.
Thanks, McClellan.
>going out to contain China
>barely leaves port
>ran aground
>screw broke
>oil spill
What did they mean by it?
Last thread: >>32830075
My new question is on how you guys seat your
bullets for reloading. Do you do it by hand, or via device you own?
Furthermore, How do I read the decimal measurements for this thing?
its a vernier scale, as you move the slider side to side, you will see white lines through the little slits. the white line that lines up the clearest will be your decimal point,
i fucking hate vernier scales.
For what it is, the Lee setup is awesome, but it am so glad I bought the charge master 1500. The RCBS thrower was +/- 0.5gr (fucking huge spread) on 4064. I programmed the CM1500 and it throws 43.5gr of extruded 4064 in ~10 seconds with rarely going over.
Considering a second one to tag team it but not yet.
>>32851067
Thanks. Yeah I'm looking at a digital scale soon, this thing is way too annoying
I had to debate gun regulations for a class I am taking and I just wanted to hear stories of guns saving lives.
Also I can screencap my arguments if you guys are interested.

I was attacked by a very aggressive sheet of paper once. I filled it full of holes.
Got saved from getting mugged two different times in NC and GA. Didn't brandish but made it obvious I was armed and looked them straight in the eyes. In NC it was two white dudes that attempted to block me from leaving a office when I was in my car. In GA two black dudes that started walking up as I was getting in my car. Both times the guys changed their mind before things escalated.
>>32849349
what were you carrying?
Red pill me on the SKS as I have never seen one or fired one.
Does it predate the AK? Is the AK based off the SKS?
SKS doesn't have a detachable magazine?
It is fixed and rounds are fed downward into the attached magazine from stripper clips? I have seen some SKS with ten round affixed magazines and some that look like 30 round? Is it still attached or is it a detachable magazine mod?
Help a /k/ ommando out please.
I want to buy a cheap one to bury with some ammo indawoods but everywhere seems sold out.
>>32844155
That's a Mosin Nagant in that picture not an SKS.
>Does it predate the AK?
Yes, by a few years. They both use the same ammunition.
>SKS doesn't have a detachable magazine?
Generally speaking no, unless its been modified. It uses clips.
>It is fixed and rounds are fed downward into the attached magazine from stripper clips?
The rounds are loaded from the top. They are fed upward by the weapon's action.
>I have seen some SKS with ten round affixed magazines and some that look like 30 round? Is it still attached or is it a detachable magazine mod?
Both 30 round stripper clips and detachable magazine modifications exist, so its hard to say for sure; but if it had a star on the side of the magazine well then it was using stripper clips.
Honsetly dude, just read the wikipedia article.
>>32844155
>does it predate the AK
>Is the AK based off the SKS
Wikipedia is your friend here.
>SKS doesn't have a detachable magazine?
Not in its stock form, no. Traditionally it has a fixed magazine which is fed via stripper clips, and takes upwards to 10 rounds. It can be modified to accept a 30 round mag, depending on what you're looking for.
As for price, it depends where you are. In the US it seems that prices vary between $400 to $600 USD for most Chinese and Russian SKS. If you're a Canuck, prices drop to about $150 USD.
Pier Gerlofs Donia just kicked down the door to your home, bellowing in enraged Frisian that he's going to rend you limb from limb and use your ribs as his toothpicks.
You have just enough time to grab your most powerful weapon and get off one shot center mass and send him back to Hell, before he bisects you skull-to-crotch with his massive 7-foot long Zweihänder.
Bear in mind he is over 7 feet all, can behead multiple people with a single swipe of his sword, and can bend coins with just his thumb, index, and middle finger.
How fucked are you?
>>32839896
>12 gauge buck to center mass
I give myself 50/50
>>32839933
Wait is a pull of both triggers acceptable? I'm pretty sure that would drop him
> can bend coins with just his thumb, index, and middle finger.
I somehow doubt forearm strength comes into play when buckshot is hitting his heart
Talk me out of getting a 92FS
I've had the bug for a new 92FS but I guess Im feeling a bit biased towards it because of it.
Why shouldn't I get a 92FS?
>>32830380
Wait until the beat to shit ones hit the market and you can pick one up for $200.
>>32830396
If they get that low, i will pick some up just as some hand out SHTF guns for the family, but I don't mind getting a new one for now.
>>32830427
Try and get an Italian one then. They look better than US 92s.
Which would you choose between the Larue OBR, LWRC Repr, or the SCAR-17 for general shtf and hunting purposes?
>>32823814
Out of those three I only own the SCAR and I'm completely happy with it. It's accurate enough (I get about 1 to 1.8 MOA depending on the load when I bench it), it's light for its class, and even without the muzzle brake it manages the recoil very well. It's also the cheapest out of those options.
I'd probably be just as happy with the Repr or an LMT 308 but I've never shot them.
Scar? Duh?
>1MOA
>lighter
>more reliable
>more durable
Also chiming in for the SCAR. Nothing wrong with the other 2, but the SCAR is light, accurate, and reliable.
>No /MEG/
well shit now I have to make a thread.
Is it possible to enlist in the reserve without ever doing active duty?
Can you still go to boot camp and get training in what you are interested in?
>>32821364
Reserves are literally weekend warriors
That's how it is
I'm a uni fag joining as an officer
What the fuck do I have in my future?
All I know about officers I know from fucking Star Trek
>>32821433
Yea but can you be one, without being a full time warrior. Like if you want to join the military, but dont want to give up civilian life 100%.
I have a M&P 15 Sport II. The front sight is slightly canted to the left. Only a bit. So I sent it back because it bothered me, not because it shot bad. Just got the gun back and it looks exactly the same.
Haven't shot it yet but I was wondering anyone else's fixed A2 front sight slightly off? And if so how canted is too canted?
I have a sport 2 as well and never really had an issue with it. Is it the weapon or is it the operator? Not to say anything by that. I'm blind as fuck and notice my shots can be off sometimes if my glasses or inserts are a little too dirty.
>>32864212
Well before I sent it back I could hit great with it. Nearly one hole group at 50 yards. so I could shot it fine. And I didn't have to adjust the rear sight way off.
>>32864277
It's possible that S&W might have built the thing quickly and one or both of the pins in it might be a tad bit loose and going to the left a little bit.
so I got a pair of offest sights I intend to use for my service rifle. my question is to any of you familiar with stock AR handgaurds like these or anyone familiar with the C7. if I put a rail on the top half of the handguard near the end, would the rail be level at all with the rail on the upper receiver or no? I won't be able to get a rifle in my hands for a while to find out.
>>32863263
lmao no it won't work, A2 handguards have a taper to them, even if they could hold zero. You'll need an <F> marked front sight post if you're using a standard flat top or a <B> normal height if you're using a Deimaco flat top or fixed carry handle upper.
>>32863323
COMPLETELY forgot about the fucking handgaurd wobble on like 90% of them and yea i figured that taper might not magically even off at the end. meaning im gonna have to resort to buying my own handguards too. depressing. thank you anyways!!
well then any suggestions for good handguards? is Knights Armament good?
Would building an AR be more cost effective than straight up buying one?
I regularly maintain my own computer/handguns/cars so I'm pretty sure I'd be able to figure everything out. Also building it myself would be for the fun of it as much as the cost savings.
If I bought a premade I'd still be swapping out a lot of the parts/furniture
>>32863222
>Would building an AR be more cost effective than straight up buying one?
depends
if you buy a complete upper and a lower kit, it's basically legos
if you buy a barrel and an upper separately, you're gonna need tools
>>32863222
Of course you should, cost isn't a big difference anymore since distributors loaded up on ARs thinking shillary would win and are now selling ready-made ARs dirt cheap but you should do it as a learning experience, for your own enjoyment, and to build exactly what you want. Do yourself a favor and get a punch set, a rubber mallet if you don't have one and a castle nut wrench, I managed to put mine together without any tools or any knowledge but it took fucking forever and I marred the receiver using a hammer to bang on shit
anyone know where I can get a 16" or maybe a 10" barrel gonna build a carbine, maybe an SBR

I checked it out and they said they'd bring one to me for free tomorrow morning!! ;)
Are they any good? I'm looking to get one but I don't really know anything about them.
They look like they're comfortable and easy to remove, but you might as well get that with chest rigs.
Is it just a waste of money or are there actually any advantages besides looking tacticool as fuck?
>>32860967
The one advantage that I could see with them is that they are easy to don and doff as you said. Other than that, I'm sure battle belts and chest rigs are better.
could you not wear a bandoleer like a necklace with the mags in the middle of your chest, instead of slung over one shoulder and under the other?
>>32861085
Yeah, but I like the idea of unclipping one buckle and throwing it down without having to drag it over your head, and I want a backpanel that doesn't make the rig more difficult or time consuming to remove.
I want to pickup a nice 22 handgun for shooting at osama bin laden targets. What I get?
>picture related
Whats your definition of nice? Budget?
>>32860981
Budget around ~500-600. Nice meaning I'd like to buy once and fire the shit out of it without any trouble.
