How do I become a Military Language Instructor.

Im from Argentina and I always wanted to be a teacher but also do something related to the army so I thought it may be an option.

I heard the US army hires native teachers to teach their languages and Im not only a native spanish speaker but also fluent in english, mandarin and japanese.

You need a green card first before you can enlist.
>>
>>32814939
You would need to be a US citizen before being considered for any job where your language skills would be useful (cryptolinguist) because of the security clearance requirements.

Argentina isn't part of any Axis of Evil for the US but they don't hand out top secret clearances to foreigners just because they know useful languages.

You might consider the private sector. Petrobras Argentina or something.

Alright, so I've just got some .308 dies for Christmas and I was debating whether I want to reload 150gr or 180 gr bullets. Most of my shooting will be on targets, though it is my hunting rifle. First, what do you think the difference would be while hunting? I've heard that higher velocity will ruin more meat by making it bloodshot, but the difference in velocity is something like 2607 fps on 150gr, and 2289 on 180 gr. Is the up in velocity going to ruin much more meat? (Unless that's all fudd talk anyhow)
Secondly, would there be any advantages to having the 180 gr at that point?

The ultimate truth is, for anything smaller than moose and grizzly it really doesn't matter what you load as long as it's between 125gr and 200gr in .308. All will kill reliably at any range you can reliably hit game animals in the vitals.
>150gr
>2600fps
nigga wat. Are you trying to use like a 16" barrel or something? You should be in the 2800-2900fps range with most 150gr bullets depending on powder if you have a stereotypical hunting rifle's 22" barrel. Pic related. Those are probably starting loads you're looking at.

I find 150-165gr bullets to be the sweet spot for taking a large range of game (antelope through Rocky Mountain elk), and I have never felt like I didn't have "enough bullet". Stick to well built bonded softpoints from reputable (non-Russian, non-Brazilian) manufacturers and you shouldn't have a problem.

>is the up in velocity going to ruin much more meat?
Depends entirely on bullet selection and very little on velocity. Pick one with controlled expansion and deep penetration and you won't ruin much meat even with shoulder hits. Anecdote of this is my .243--I can use 80gr Nosler BT-Hunting bullets and completely mush half an antelope, or I can use 85gr Gamekings and ruin basically no meat. Difference of only about 60fps in velocity.
It's not fudd talk, but they are big perpetrators of it because they don't pay any attention to bullet selection or construction.
>secondly, would there be any advantages to having the 180gr at that point?
Only if you need the significantly deeper penetration it would provide specifically in a .308, and are willing to sacrifice the trajectory to get it. It will drop significantly more than the 150gr (as long as they're relatively similar construction and you're not comparing, say, the flat-based Hornady Interlock 150gr to a Berger VLD-Hunting 180). 180gr is kind of on the high end of what a .308 handles well and you give up a LOT of velocity going from 165gr to 180gr.
>>
>>32815024
180gr Nosler Partitions have a G1 BC of 0.474, which isn't bad at all. You'll probably push those ~2600ft/s with a decent load. I agree with the rest of what you said. (I'm not OP, if that wasn't obvious)

Regarding the velocity, I've got no chronograph, so the velocities I got were off of the lyman reloading handbook, 49th edition
Pic related
The gun I'll be using is a Tikka T3, with the 22inch barrel.
So what sort of bullet should I be looking for then, to achieve well enough controlled expansion. Also would it be of any harm in my accuracy to have cheaper bullets for plinking as well, so long as their the same weight?

At the point of owning spares or pairs of shoes you don't wear at least once a week. The ban will be soon and swift. All puppers will die.

I keep coming up with the sight post occupying 12" of a shooter's field of view at 100 yards, but I don't think I'm doing my math correctly. For my calcs I have the shooter's eye 24 in. behind the sight post and have measured mine to be 2 mm wide, or ~0.08 in.

This gives an isosceles triangle formed by the shooter's pupil and sight post with an angle of ~0.191 degrees at the pupil, and using half of that angle for extending the projected width of the sight post at 100 yards yields a right triangle with a base length of ~6 in. at the target. Double that for the full projected width and get the 12 in. that I've been coming up with.

This seems excessively large, but it could be a reason why I'm such a shit shot with AK irons. There are other explanations for that though, so I'm more inclined to believe that my math contains an error.

I'm not a math wiz so I could be just as wrong, but your math seems correct to me. I think you could have done a simple ratio instead.

>0.08/24 = x/3600 x=12

No need to break out the trig.

Even so, you can still make the front sight post even on a small target. I know a lot of high power shooters use a six o'clock hold and put the whole circle on top of the "horizon" of the front sight post. Maybe adjusting for this kind of sight picture will help.
>>
>>32815036
Thank you for the confirmation, I usually tend to solve problems in the most roundabout way possible.

I guess I should start reading up on high power shooting. Until just about a year ago all my shooting was done through optics (t. fudd), so I have plenty of room to git gud with irons.

So I recently ordered a revolver from a shop that I don't normally go to. He offered me a better price but normally I would have gone to the place nearest me, a place where I have never had any problems. My normal LGS will agree on a price and then write me a receipt, get my phone number and then call me when my order comes in. Its not until I am there to pick up the order they run the background check and I pay. This new place charged me before they would even place the order. I didn't think much of it there just that it was different. But then I got thinking after I was home that technically, he sold me a gun without running a background check, even if I don't have it in hand yet. He didn't even ID me, so really he doesn't even know if I'm the legal age (I am). Just wanted to know if this is standard or not. Otherwise this place was very friendly, just further away from me than my normal place.

They can't run a NICS check until they have the gun's serial number anyway, so they probably didn't bother IDing you. It's probably a gun they think they could move even if they couldn't sell it to you, so it wasn't a big deal.
>>
So the dealer doesn't get stuck with it if you change your mind
>>
>>32813671
>>32813689
Also, they didn't technically sell you the gun, they just took your money as a deposit on the order. They haven't legally sold you the gun until the background check comes back. If they BG check you later and you are denied, then they keep your deposit and the gun.

How easy is it to become a mercenary? Are there any conflicts going on in the world right now where there is a reasonable chance of getting involved in hand-to-hand combat? I just saw the movie "Zulu" with Michael Caine for the first time and it suddenly became clear to me what has been missing in my life.

Any tips appreciated.

>>
sure you can. The Kurdish YPG accept Western volunteers to help them fight ISIS.
If you get a bit of military experience there are plenty of PMCs that will hire you if you know the right people.
The question you really need to ask yourself is: is the thrill of being in combat worth endless drudgery, getting stopped in airports, not having any support mechanisms, not seeing your family and friends for extended periods, variously living in holes in the ground, shitty hotel rooms and sketchy dosshouses, fucking up your hearing, etc?
Also: do you just want it so you can kill people? If so, seek help.

If you're looking for an adrenaline high and your rich it's easy as showing up, if you want to make a living at it by 1st world standards you gotta have experience and training. I work logistics as a road warrior vehicle recovery and load inspection mechanic/truck driver, our security is exclusively rangers and marines with two or three tours. The check point guys and locals are all African and Romanian working for about 6 bucks an hour. There's an old MP or E6/7 in charge of each post keeping the rabble more or less in check. It's worse in South America unless you know someone or have bodyguard experience and fluent Spanish. Lots of Euro trash work overseas and claim unemployment back home so they work dirt cheap and treat everything like a vacation.

SKS was a more modern design.

The FAL and the AK you giant mong. In the 50s both designed were outdated as fuck
>>
>>32812750
>AR-15
Seriously though it's the SKS. Less recoil meant you could more effectively suppress targets, it had 10rd mag, 7.62x39mm was lighter per cartridge so you could carry more, the gun was lighter so it didn't tire you out, the action is more enclosed so I'm inclined to believe it was more reliable but it is tilting bolt so who knows.

The M1 Garand's pros are faster reloading via the enbloc (can't realistically top off gun though) and god tier sighting system.
