I don't get the point of striker fired guns, they all have shit triggers. If you want a consistent combat trigger why not just carry a DA/SA cocked and unlocked?

>If you want a consistent combat trigger why not just carry a DA/SA cocked and unlocked?

Because that's unsafe as fuck. Also people blow the inconsistent trigger thing way out of proportion when talking about DA/SA.

>inb4 "a 4lb SA trigger is the same as a 4lb striker trigger!"

That new CZ fixed a lot of striker fired trigger problems. The P10C I think it's called?

Still has that stupid ass trigger safety every not-a-glock has barring the P320.

Most of the 1100's I ran into worked okay as long as the o-ring hadn't turned to leather.

no put bullet in but

Interested in being a PJ /k/. Sorry to be 'that guy'.

I understand that there's an incredibly high rate of quitting. Something around 85% if I'm not mistaken.

Why do people quit? Is it the physical parts of the training or the learning parts? When do most of them quit? One month in, two months in? What can I do to prepare myself? I'm intent on joining in 6 to 12 mos and that should be plenty of time to get myself ready.

I'll be speaking to an Air Force recruiter for the first time tomorrow. Any questions I should ask or anything I should say/not say? I'm 19 if that makes any difference

Seen this, OP? http://taskandpurpose.com/surviving-pararescue-training-simpler-think/

I wasn't even in the Air Force, let alone a PJ, so I can't say how genuine it is, but he gives a pretty detailed account of his time, and specifically mentions that the main thing that drove most of his class to quit was essentially mental exhaustion or a break in willpower, rather than anything physical.

You might as well tell the recruiter that you want to be a General.

How do you sign up for things like this? Do you have to already be in some kind of combat arms for a number of years before you can try out?

Got into an interesting legal debate today with a buddy and a good question came up (and I know this will vary state to state)

Does a CC permit cover something like brass knuckles (assuming your state has not banned them)?

For instance in Montana it is not illegal to own something like a set of brass knuckles, its just illegal to have them hidden on you and adds to charges if used in a crime.

The concealed carry law wording regarding permits here doesnt ever outright say you cant, but that doesnt always exactly mean its legal either.

So, does CC cover something like knuckle dusters? Could you get away with actually using them assuming you had a CC permit? Or would the reputation as a thuggish bottom barrel crime item get you fucked over?

>>
>>32831071
It is a weapon, it can be concealed, if it is not explicitly banned in your state it is covered as a concealed weapon. Georgia, Tennessee, Arizona, all examples of this.
>>
>>32831071
For context, I was telling a story about how the wannabe gangsta in my home town got popped with illegal carry because he used a set of knuckledusters to break a window during a burglary and me and my buddy got curious about their legality.
>>
>>32831071
>CC permit
I seriously doubt this covers knuckle dusters

>would you get fucked?
Yeah, probably.

Okay /k/, if a non government organization managed declared that Christians fight a holy war against Islam how would it play out? How would thousands of men of the Christendom make it to the middle east to fight? Which nations would support it? What would their objectives be? How would they deal with Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia, The Kurds, ISIS, Assad, Russia, and the USA? How would this all work?

For the sake of the chances of it being actually somewhat achievable, let's say Pope Francis and the Vatican declares the Crusade, unrealistic as it may be. This way, there might be some actual support for it.

>Objective
Seeing as Israel is already a state, the Holy Land is rather secure under the Israeli Military and the Iron Dome. Rather, this Crusade would aim the cleanse the area of fundamental Islam. Maybe instead replace it with a more West-friendly version. This means our main enemies would be countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, as well as the many terrorist groups.

>Factions
There are somewhere about 8-9 million Coptic Christians in the Middle East as we speak. There are many groups fighting as we speak against ISIS.

The Kurds could be a viable ally seeing as they do control some territory in the region already. They already aim to establish and Western-friendly state, so they're probably the best bet for a Crusader hub.

Russia would be on the fence about this. They aren't exactly keen on helping Westerners conquer the ME, but it would further their goals of wiping out terror groups. It would serve nicely to have more ground control without risking their men. They would provide air support, but I doubt Vlad would even send a Vodka care package our way.

The Liberal Globalist EU would probably lose their shit and travel ban the area.

The US population would also freak, but the government might throw some support. Maybe some actual ground troops. Again, I doubt supplies.

Assad would be glad for support, but the crusaders wouldn't want to deal with him most likely.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-syria-options-exclusiv-idUSKCN12D2B2

As the above article details, in October 2016 the Obama administration was considering launching airstrikes on Syrian government positions, despite the risk of confrontation with Russia.

Of course, Obama decided not to, and thankfully the current President seems less inclined to take such actions. But what if Obama had authorized the strikes, killed a few Russians and Iranians in the process, and Russia shot down a few US warplanes in retaliation?

What would happen, assuming attempts to peacefully negotiatiate the crisis fail, and that Iran, incensed by it's own losses in the airstrikes, gives Russia full use it's bases? Could the US get other members of CJTF-OIR in on it's actions against Russia, Syria, and Iran? Could Russia get CSTO involved, and if so, what difference would it make? Could Russia maintain control over Syria, or would America succeed in forcing them out?

>That pic

Only Two of those Russian ships actually have offensive capabilities and decent defensive capabilities.
>>
>>32830677
In the long term Russia would not be able to maintain it's forces in Syria. They would have no resupply or reinforcements. Anything they had there would get destroyed by cruise missiles and airstrikes. Russia could try to minimalism their weapons by moving their weapons into the country side and spreading them out but Syria is still not secure enough where that could be taken to full advantage. The Russian navy in the Mediterranean would be fucked. The Black Sea fleet would be confined to Crimea. They could do some damage with their new generation of anti ship missiles and S-400 but those aren't some kind of unstoppable wonder weapon. Their land based aircraft in Syria would be fighting a loosing battle because of numbers. Most of their aircraft are ground attack and only have a handful of fighters.

I was issued one as a Police Patrol Rifle. We had the K models with short barrels and iron sights. We bought them cheap from a SWAT team out west who had them and switched away from the gun, to something else. It was a decent gun. It's gas piston, and does not get vey dirty, as fast as a AR. The Stocks were side folding, at a fixed length that never seemed to fit anyone just right. They were too long for most guys wearing Body Armor. The sights weren't that great either. They would get hot and the groups would open up. We Ditched them for Colt Ar-15s. Everyone is happier. Groups at the range are much better, during qualifying. We have 20 of them sitting in a safe. No one wants to buy them.

Thinking about a 1911. I have about an 800 budget. Should I get a cheaper colt, or it that just a meme that I'll end up paying extra for? I'm really eyeing the Ruger 6700 SR1911. Thoughts? Pic related

Colt's an American classic and you can't go wrong with them. But if the Ruger suits you better, get it. I'm certain if you're just looking for a range toy, it'll fit that role.
>>
>>32829948

I respectfully disagree.

I want to like Colt, but I just can't. They completely neglect their consumer base because they are content with their fat government contracts. The products they do make for consumers are good, but overpriced since you pay the "Pony Tax" on them.

In my opinion you can get a 1911 that is as good or better than a Colt for much cheaper. I have a Springfield Mil-Spec myself and am very pleased with it.
