Good evening /k/, I come to ask questions from those who know a fuckton more about this than I do. I have an old Kornbusch & Co Gewehr 98, dated 1917, I picked up over a year ago for $180, from a guy who was planning on sporterizing it, cutting down the barrel and stock, drilling it, etc.

For starters: I know nothing about the history of the rifle besides the fact the guy I bought it from bought it from a guy who had it for 50 years. That's it. I'll post a few more pictures, but I just want to know what possible adventure this gun went on, the history of Kornbusch rifles, why all the parts are matching save the bolt and receiver, what some of these markings mean, and where do I buy some good slings or a bayonet for this thing?

Shitty picture of the manufacturer mark. The bore is in good shape, some slight pitting, which is true across the rifle, especially of the bolt, but the face is in good shape, and the stock is in fantastic shape.

This is now a John Wick thread.

I'm just happy the 1911 got screentime

It was also treated with the appropriate amount of respect

John's not really a gun guy. He's an assassin.
The only thing he really care about is capacity and if the gun has a decent grip when his hands get bloody.
His character is the epitome of "A hi-point will kill you just as dead as your $3000 custom 1911" meme

Why haven't i seen this on /k/ at all? It might be vidya, but it is by far the most /k/ video i've ever seen. More so than Insurgency, and it looks more fun than ARMA or STALKER.

http://www.escapefromtarkov.com/

with the amount of slaviboos on /k/ i would think this would be a more popular topic of discussion.

Kinda hard to discuss a game that isn't even out yet
>>
>>33086586
there are videos of people playing it, and it is playable right now by anyone who wants to pay the (hefty) price of $113+ for instant alpha access with goodies

I just bought it and am downloading it right now. I want this thing to succeed, so i give them some support, I just want it to have a bit more attention i think it deserves.

I can't seem to find an actual answer to this on the internet.

What is the lowest rank you can be to have a command in the Navy or Coast Guard? Like even something pretty small, like a minesweeper or patrol ship, or a buoy tender in the Coast Guard.

I'm thinking of doing NROTC next year (currently freshman in college). But I don't want to miss out on tons of years of making a lot of money in my chosen career field. How long are most guys in the Navy before they get their first command?

>>
>>33086451
idk about coast guard but as far as navy goes commander is the lowest.
>>
>>33086855
An O-5? That doesn't seem right. I mean an O-5 usually commands an attack sub or a destroyer, and that's a pretty big command. It seems like an O-4 would do something like a minesweeper.

To get to O-5 you need to be in probably 6-8 years at least, don't you?
>>
If that's your attitude then you're going nowhere mate...

No-one's gonna bother investing in training you up to command a warship if you plan on quitting straight after your first command.

Most officers don't command a ship during their career, officers with so little commitment to the service just won't make the cut.

It's a common trope that you can't hurt your teammateswith gunfire in realistic war video games like BF4. Is this realistic in real life?
25 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
Completely real. If you shoot your friends it will do absolutely nothing to them. And a little known fact about the friendly damage in games like BF4 is that if you shoot yourself ingame it won't kill you, this is the same as in real life also. If you don't believe me just try it and find out, best way to insure you don't miss is to stick the gun in your mouth and pull the trigger.

This, friendly fire is off IRL. Armed service members are given lead immunization shots at MEPS so they aren't affected by friendly projectiles later on.

Pretty boring because you can't watch them go off.

>>33085798

I have to do national service myself soon. But from what I heard it's pretty systematic. It involves you pulling the pin and keeping your thumb on the lever and holding it there (the scary part), and finally you throwing it and hitting the dirt as fast as you can.

Is there any way to get an SVD style chinese or soviet rifle legally in canada? If so anyone know specific models to search for? I know you can chopshop an sks to get a close approximation but I hate to ruin old workhorse, even if they are common.
Thanks

Does the V2 have the same feeding issues as the original mags?

>INB4 JUST GET SOMETHING THAT ISN'T TRASH

If you're familiar with the construction of a hex mag you'll know that the way it's made is pretty neet to have in a cucked state

>>33085379
I have the original hexmags (series 1 or whatever) and haven't noticed any issues at all. That being said, pretty much everyone agrees the series 2 are much better.
>>
>>33085379
>>33085490
I have the 15 round series 1 mags for my cucked state and have also not noticed any feeding issues or any of the other issues that people claim to have with hexmags.
>>
>>33085566
I pulled apart a gen 2 pmag and a series 1 hex mag and really found them to be almost identical. The followers and functionally the same, and both seem to be built very similarly. The only thing I really noticed was the the cutout in the back which lifts up the bolt hold open seems to be more well defined and evenly cut on the hexmag than the pmag. The pmag looks like it was chipped in the back while the hexmag has a nice molded cutout in that area.
