Hello!! So I've recently turned 19, and have always held an interest in guns. Rifles in particular, and I've always heard people recommend a good firearm to start with would be a Mosin-Nagant. My question is, in Florida, where would I go about buying one? Could I purchase online? Advice for a beginner? Please help :)

>Young black men are 3X more likely to be shot by trained shooters than their white peers. A disturbing potential correlation: The most popular target for shooters to learn to use their firearm is a black silhouette. Unconscious bias can be deadly.
>shooters weren't just faster to fire at black targets; they were also more likely to fire at a black target. This petition seeks to eliminate the use of the most popular target for shooters to learn to use their firearm: a menacing black silhouette.
so apparently shooting black sillouettes is racist. they encourage you to make your own not black targets, going as far to allow you to choose your own color, just blocking out the lower half of the range so that you cant make a black target.
but the developers of this site suck dick and its piss easy to make a black one and submit it to them. just rickt click on the thing that blocks out the black colors, inspect the element, delete it, and you can submit a black target to a gallery thats supposed to be about having non black targets.

Looking to get my first AR soon, any suggestions? I am an avid handgun shooter and regularly compete in GSSF. I Just never entered the long gun world. What is /k/ recommendation?

Chuck Pressburg, an actual "operator" known almost totally by his online handle "Roland Deschain", was arrested recently for getting really drunk and shooting his brother in law in the leg.
http://registerguard.com/rg/news/local/35292810-75/story.csp
This guy is essentially a total unknown, although he does have a small claim to fame in being the "namesake" for a configuration of the G19 which is notable only for including a compensator- the "roland special", pictured. It's just a G19 with a light, RMR, and threaded barrel with a compensator, but has turned into the latest and greatest cool kid thing in most tier 1 knobgobbler circles.
This is actually most noteworthy because Pressburg, despite residing in NC, is somehow a reserve officer of a New Mexico police department- which has 3 officers including the chief. Given the phrasing of the article, the fact that the guy is a reserve officer is his most distinguishing characteristic, despite probably only belonging to the department for easy national carry and possibly getting restricted equipment (most likely just the former though, not hard to get LEO equipment with the proper hookups). Also, this NM PD is from a town of 400 people, and apparently the chief likes to make random tier one dudes reserves for shits and giggles, because it certainly isn't for policing the streets of Lake Arthur. It's also funny to read that he was "placed on administrative leave".
Consider it a lesson in over familiarization with firearms and also the perils of intoxicated firearms handling. Pressburg was 0.25 BAC when tested after the shooting, which by most standards, is exceptionally tanked. By all standards he is clearly a very accomplished firearms user, and was trying to launch a consulting gig following his recent retirement from the Army. His facebook page for "Presscheck Consulting" with a mission statement of
> "We shoot stuff. And People".
was recently scrubbed cleaned following this event.
stupid thread op
While the entire story is something that would just be an uneventful footnote on a newspaper page in a small town given how simple the whole ordeal appears to be, several in the "operator" community (read, a handful of operators and mostly people that paid to take a carbine class) have come out to question the motives of the media in somehow defaming this poor guy. For some reason.

In this page you can see THE Larry Vickers come forth to deride anybody who suggests this guy may have been a drunken idiot for shooting a 64 year old man as "not man enough" to be "tier one".

More autistic screeching although a bit more subdued on PF:

Essentially, it's the sort of thing the gun community should condemn as an event, while supporting the person. Instead you will have it brushed under the rug, and it will quite possibly happen again.

what is your point
There needs to be a low velocity 50 caliber revolver cartridge. Such a cartridge would offer unparalleled stopping power without the need for hollow point bullets and tolerable recoil. Hopefully, a better mousetrap will eventually sell itself.

.50 Special ?

Didn't know that was a thing, but something about like that, yes.

Why did Germany had to come up with new tank designs/ideas instead of improvising the Panzer IVs? The 75 mm KwK 40 L/48 was a really good gun that made the job done against every enemies. Manufacturing as many Panzer IVs, StuG III Gs and/or StuG IVs should have been the main focus of Germany during the war. If they wouldn't fucking around with new concepts every day, they could focus on making the Panzers more reliable. It maybe was a little bit more expensive, a little bit harder to make, and instead of 500/month only 475/month could be done. But continously flooding the fronts with these German Engineering(TM) beauties, the victory would be closer. And IF the mighty IVs weren't enough, they could step up their game with the Panther with it's 75 mm KwK 42 and the Jagdpanther with the 88 mm KwK 43. Again, instead of making them as cheap as posibble, they could have gone with more reliability, so they wouldn't break mechanically every 10 minutes, for the price of 40.000+ RM and -15% production rate.
>>33095233
Because the Panzer IV, like the Sherman was a piece of shit, only capable of doing light infantry support work.
It was totally vulnerable to any AT weapons.

>IF the mighty IVs weren't enough, they could step up their game with the Panther with it's 75 mm KwK 42 and the Jagdpanther with the 88 mm KwK 43
this is what happened. and germany had neither the machine tools nor the steelmaking ability to make the panther reliable
How much would VTOL aircraft have helped Germany?

Not at all, that late in the war.

I don't think there's a thing in the world that could have saved them when the decided to attack Russia.
I don't mean that ironically or as a meme. If they would have finished the fight on the western front and Africa and then attacked Russia, maybe these would have had an effect.
TL;DR It doesn't matter what kind of aircraft you have if you're stupidly outnumbered and don't have any oil.
Forget accuracy, reliability, price, aftermarket, blah blah blah all that shit...which is more fun to shoot?
