if you feed the cartridges in backwards the guns becomes less lethal. This is because when you shoot the gun, instead of the heavy, fast bullet shooting out, instead the light brass case shoots out. Since the brass case is so weak and thin, it can't penetrate the skin of someone, and so it's a good less than lethal alternative.

/k/, why are most folding knives oriented for tip up carry?

i've been carrying a kershaw blackout for 12yrs (tip down design) and recently started trying different folders. seems like all i can find in "quality" knives are tip up and they're very awkward to handle.

is there a real benefit?
22 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
It's just more natural to close your knife and drop it in your pocket, also when you pull it out it's facing the right way.
>>
>>34155477
but in tip down my hand is already on the pivot. just have to drop the handle into my palm.

seems like with tip up i have to walk my fingers up the handle to get the right grip if that makes sense.

This rifle is superior in every way compared to the M4/AR15.

Since push feed rifles are cheaper and work just as well as controlled round feed, why do they still make controlled round feed? Does anybody actually think it's necessary?
22 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
>>34155053
bolt rifles are better suited for precision shooting, and for a number of reasons
when you shoot and auto feed there is a lot of internal movement inside the weapon which can cause it to be off by however much
while a bolt rifle is simply click boom, you do the racking
not to mention that if your a sniper the last thing you want is for someone to see a glimmer off of some ejected brass when you take a shot

Fastest way to master the 1.5 mile run?

Pushups required are like 22, and I get 88 without stopping. Situps are just as well, but I've always been a gymrat and have no idea what to do when it comes to cardio?

tl;dr please help, only know how to put things up and down, need advice on 1.5 mile run progression and cardio

The minimum is 15 min and I'm at 15:15, but I need to get a better run time than that, the academy is a lot harder than the minimum.

A lot of people can run 2 miles in under 15:15. Stop being a bitch and quitting. I wish someone would give me 15min to run 1.5 miles. I'd take a smoke break half way through.
Not that bad.

> 1.5 miles in 15 minutes

Nigga you could run that backwards. Honestly, if you lift, stop lifting and just do bodyweight and cardio. Extra weight will only slow you down.

Heres the routine you should be aiming for:
> day 1: 2 mile run at decent pace
> day 2: push ups, sit ups, pull ups, squats
> day 3: hill sprints/lamppost sprints/HIIT
> day 4: push ups, sit ups, pull ups, squats
> day 5: 2 mile run at decent pace
> day 6: long slow jog for at least 4 miles
> day 7: rest and recover

Hi I have looked at ak/ar build kits but I want to make a scratch build and the rotating bolt and carrier looks hard to machine at home?

I'm looking to make a semi auto rifle in a common caliber like .223/308/30-06 and using common mags.

Would a rollerlocking bolt / locking flap bolt / toggle link bolt or tilting block bolt be easier to build a rifle around?

I have built smg with blowback before but I want something more effective and easy to produce in quantity.
All help is appreciated!

No machining experience, but I've been interested in the same thing. After looking into it a bit out of curiosity, I think it's totally doable, you just need to take the appropriate precautions.

Are you thinking of a gas system or no?

Using rollers or levers would be what you'd want if you're not using a gas system; flappers or a tilting breechblock would be for if you are. That should cut your choice in half right there.

As for information, rollers would probably have the most information out there that you can rely on.
>>
I thought to use a gas system maybe a direct action like the ar/15 as it is a part less to machine.
It would also be good if it was easy to make from tubes as it would be less expensive then machine from blocks, but i could cast aluminium parts and machine from if needed.

The tilting block is intresting but i have not much info abourt it.
Why do you think that a roller locking bolt should not be used with a gassytem?

>Why do you think that a roller locking bolt should not be used with a gassytem?
Rollers are mostly used in roller delayed systems, which is a type of delayed blowback.

I'm not really sure what the advantages of using a roller instead of a fixed piece of metal would be in a gas system like the picture, but it seems like it's just one more complication for a homemade gun.

As for direct impingement like with the AR15, it might be less parts, but you should look up what it involves. The bolt and bolt carrier form a piston, then the gas gets pushed behind the bolt in the chamber formed with it and the carrier to push the bolt out, where I think it uses cams to rotate the bolt around. If you're not using a rotating bolt, you might have to develop your own way of unlocking instead of basing it on something else.

A short piston gas system would probably be easier, it's just a rod and a spring that pushes against something, and piston systems have been used in a bunch of different ways, so you have more ideas to choose from.
