I live in California so there I do not have a lot of freedom. I've just been shooting at the range for now. Even guys I've met have been stopped from shooting on their own property, thats how bad it is.

Taking the Falklands wouldn't be hard, even with modern argie military capabilities. What you need to focus on is being able to quickly lock the place down with concealed AA and anti-shipping positions. You want air-droppable SAM systems with the range to deal with drones.

A time machine for anything surplus. Or hope conflicts calm down, or laws change, and it begins flooding in again. Just don't expect it to be as cheap as it was in the past ever again.
Otherwise, commercial & russian ammo is about as cheap as I'd ever expect it to be. I don't see prices going much lower. If you aren't against using steel, then any common ammo is cheap. Intermediate calibers lean towards 20c/r, full size cartridges lean from 30-40c/r before shipping.
IMO, it IS one of those times to stock up and hedge against future bullshittery that could hit at some point.

Not through normal means where you aren't buying entire pallets tier bulk, because it's already bulk packaged and sold in quantities that don't make shipping extremely expensive. You break a certain weight limit per package, and all of a sudden you start paying a lot extra because it becomes an occupational hazard for the people moving it.

Black powder explodes, flinging the projectile down the barrel, making a relatively small amount of pressure. Smokeless powder burns, letting off gases which push the bullet out of the gun. The difference in the two is pressure. Smokeless makes a very large amount of pressure. Just stick with black powder anon, you don't want to overload it and blow your hand up.

Need en blocs clips no one makes anymore, crudely made and makes no attempt to hide it, not really historically interesting at first glance so it doesn't have the charm of the Mosin, action is boring with the exception of the enblocs which is more an annoyance than a feature to the casual shooter, they have a reputation for poor accuracy becasue for a long time the only sporting ammo available was sized wrong, people think it's spooky becasue of the JFK assassination. Also many fudds don't know the internet exists so finding ammo and clips locally can be annoying.

They are good guns but there's a lot of them and demand is low.
