Did you take a gun safety course before you started handling weapons?
>>34181402
If you count your PMI teaching you the proper way to fire a rifle before they let you fire your M16, then yeah.
I own 7 different guns now, but I didn't ever fire one until boot camp.
>>34181402
No
Learned all my dos and don'ts from lurking /k/.
Still haven't had a ND.
>>34181402
No, my dad taught me when I was a small child with his marlin model 60.
Ammo thread?
Moving from a house to an apartment and am VERY concerned about overpenetration.
What do you guys think about vmax loads?
Currently rocking xm556sbct3 and need to change it
get a 5.7 you dork, we wound vectors now
Regardless of ammunition type, you're still using a rifle round so there will always be a risk of overpenetration even with frangible bullets.
>>34181278
right but any serious pistol and shotgun rounds will certainly not be any better.
except maybe the 5.7, lulz>>34181246
So /k/ Im thinking of what gun to get for self defense. I dont live in a terrible neighborhood, but live close enough to one to warrant a gun.
My question is revolver or semi-auto? I like the idea of more shots with a semi over the revolver but enjoy the added safety of a revolver but less shots.
I would like it as more of a deterrent but revolvers seem like a pricey deterrent. Revolvers though,t me,seem safer. As you can see Im not 100% on guns, but that isnt stopping me from protecting myself. So what do you guys think? Any info is appreciated.
>>34181149
Get the semi-auto.
>>34181149
Why not a rifle? Why not a shotgun?
>>34181149
Are you going to carry it? If not, get a cheap $200 shotgun. There's literally no reason to get a handgun as a primary self-defense tool unless you need to carry and possibly conceal it.
A shotgun or rifle is better than a handgun in every concealable way except concealability
>more power
>more rounds (in a rifle)
>longer range
>much easier to make accurate hits
So, /k/omrades, what will your song of choice be when THE MAN has you backed into a corner and you have to make your last stand?

I'm jealous as shit. How does the locking mechanism on the bottom one feel? I wanted to pick up the Manix 2 but I'm not sure I'll like it as much as the axis lock.
Would a corncob on the cob make a good silenser? I want some thing I can get anywhere and use it with my gun and when I am done I can have for dinner to
>>34180650
yes, amazingly so in fact.
I've just contacted the ATF.
Have fun in the pokey, dicksleeve.
>>34180650
I would be incredibly hesitant, it's quite thick, don't want my barrel to fucking explode.
Hey /k/
A friend of mine who loves guns is graduating soon, need to get him a nice gift. He has 3 rifles and som other stuff. What should i get him?
>>34180618
whats your budget? what guns does he have? what are some of his interests specifically?
>>34180618
How much do you want to spend?
What kind of shit is he into?
You could always just get him a bunch of ammo.
You buy your mates beers not expensive fucking rifles. Is he your bum buddy?
ITT: makeshift weapons that are ghetto, hobo-tier weapons, but scary as hell.
basically, the kind of stuff you wouldn't want to see a deranged homeless man pull out of his pocket when you see one in a dark alley.
>>34180135
Honestly, any hobo with a long, sturdy stick and enough drugs in his system is pretty fucking scary.
>>34180135
Nothing would scare me more than an open wound on a hobo. It's a one way trip to AIDS town population you.
Why hasn't a belt fed, 1000+ round per minute, 3 1/2" 12 gauge flechette thrower been created for door gunners or even as a coaxial gun yet?
Normally, 2 3/4" flechette shells hold just 20, inch long, pussy 8 grain flechettes that come out at around 2250 FPS and use dumb protruding fins that take up room in the shell for tighter patterns.
Typically, the accepted casualty producing force for an incapacitating wound is 58 ft. lbf. for an unprotected human and individual 8 grain flechettes fall to that energy around 130 meters although it could be deadly much further if they're really pointy and enough hit the right area.
3 1/2" shells already exist, can fit nearly an inch longer (heavier) flechette or have more room for powder, and we can load them with flechette like pic related for higher flechette per shell ratio. Who cares if you're getting 30 meter wide patterns at 500 meters, you're flooding the target with extremely uncomfortable brush penetrating needles at 1000 RPM.
With my only door gunner experience being combat simulators, I've found that precise weapons are incredibly difficult to get on target even with a high fire rate but a high fire rate coupled with appropriate spread (not swinging the gun back and forth) works much better.
>>34179985
a) Door gunners are hardly a priority in anyone's military, they don't see much use
b) Machine guns fill this role entirely adequately. If you're that fussed, slap a minimum on instead.
You can delete the thread now friend.
>>34179985
Oh and
C) Flechettes don't work like that not are they particular effective.
>>34179985
I love it when 14 year olds read an article on wikipedia and think they're some fuckin genius who can solve an age-old problem by throwing technology at it.

For all your black powder needs
Is it better to just invest in a proper setup or get a conversion cylinder and be done with it?
>>34179963
Playing with my 1858 Remington revolvers as we speak. Got one brass frame and one stainless model. I shoot 220gr conical over 40grs of Hodgdon 777. Pretty potent and accurate as far a black powder revolvers are concerned. I'm pretty quick at swapping cylinders now too.
Not this quick yet.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeqLL2xuSQs
>>34179963
It's probably better to get a conversion, but if you can make your own bullets I would stick with a proper setup.
>>34179963
A proper setup works with anything whereas a conversion cylinder would tie you to buying specific cowboy ammunition. If you plan on getting more black powder guns, then I'd definitely avoid getting a conversion cylinder—you probably know how expensive they are anyways. However, If you aren't looking to get more black powder guns, then there's no reason to avoid getting one. A cartridge conversion revolver would be pretty damn neat, after all.
Let me present to you the Nightmare Knife.
The minimum bidding price for it is 450 Euros.

Wew fucking lad.
Talk to me about military issue sidearms in modern combat theatre.
Do footsoldiers still get issued one or are they reserved for officers and special units?
Do they even serve a purpose anymore with large combat units, fire support and short-barrel carbines? Or are they a last ditch kind of thing?
>>34179664
we were issued a handgun with only one bullet
>>34179781
Ok there captain jack
Normally issues so you still can fight to the rifle you shouldn't have left behind.
More-over so Officers and people at the FOB can fall under the doctrine to be armed and are ready in case of combat.
Are these Gray Man material?
it's Gay Man material.

No homosexual would ever wear those.
Heirloom thread.
They may not be the prettiest they may not be the most expensive but what are guns with some sentimental value that have been passed down by uncles grandparents or parents?
Pic related could potentially be mine. It is my passed grandfather's 22 H & R revolver .22 cal. (I don't have a picture of it but I believe it's this one I found)
There is one problem which leads me into a question if anyone can help. My grandfather had a girlfriend of over 40 years and they never got married could this legally be passed down to me without needing paperwork for transfer? I live in Pennsylvania if it matters.
My grandmother has some sorta firearm, I don't know specifically what and I've not asked because it seems rude but I'm pretty sure it was my grandfather's sidearm when he was a prison guard, which still doesn't give me much of an idea (it would have been in California in like the 60s/70s) Whatever it is, I hope I get it, it would be painful to see what my libfag parents might do with it
>>34179200
I would probably guess some sort of revolver. But I feel you there I think I'm the only one in my family that would have any appreciation for my grandfather's pistol. Everyone else in my family I believe would either sell it or just throw it in the bottom of a box somewhere.
He actually used to carry it when he worked as armed security and he transferred a lot of money.
I have a lot of heirloom handguns
With the GSG MP40 9mm pistol finally released, I've been looking at a few different unique "pistols" that could make for really neat SBR's for under $1k.
I've been looking at:
- GSG MP40 Pistol (922r compliant stock release date TBD)
- PPS-43C Pistol
- VZ.61 Scorpion Pistol
- Scorpion Evo 3 S1 Pistol
- Mckay UZI 9mm build
I already have an FN PS90 and an Auto-Ordnance Thompson M1, so I have been leaning towards that MP40 to go alongside the rest of my WWII era stuff, but I'm open to other suggestions.
why does it have to be pistol? make an obrez.
>>34179358
>hey let me recommend a shitty /k/ meme that doesn't fit your criteria at all.
Besides, obrez suck for actual shooting
>>34179133
Speaking of the GSG MP40, what kind of magazines does it actually use and where do you get more? Are they proprietary?
