Hey /ic I've been watching a lot of flash animations and i've come to the conclusion that pshycicpebbles is probably my favourite animator, his new stuff is more detailed and he has a very nice style of animation, plus I like his original content quite a lot (hell benders).
My question is, who is your favourite animator and why ?
On a side note max gilardi is probably my runner up.
Bahi JD
Also psychicpebbles is funny but his animations aren't that good imho.

This. Often when people talk about their favorite animators what they really like is the comedy/story elements. If we're talking pure animation skills then people like bahi or yutaka nakamura are up there
I don't feel creative, I'll take long breaks from creating art that can last up to a month. I need motivation to keep making art or to either kms. Help me out anons.
I pm'd you the secret to motivation in art. ;)

Wot? Who the fuck are you?
> I'll take long breaks from creating art that can last up to a month.
You're not an artist m8.
True love of one's own creativity dies with childhood and artists are egoists who unable or unwilling to accept its loss.
*who are unable
more like your love for creativity gets crippled by everyday teenage and adult life and artists are the ones who either never let that happen in the first place, or managed to nurture their creativity back to a healthy state.

I recently got into some financial issues (college student, what else is new) and have been trying to sell some of my artwork to maybe gain some sort of extra income. I was wondering what would the best way of advertising be? I've tried a few different websites and so far not much has been in my favor. Any advice is valued. I've sold 2 pieces in a 1 year period.
(also if you would like, include an image of your favorite album cover)
Have you tried hooking?

Forums weren't really worth it.
You're going to improve a lot when you start because improving on total trash is really easy - don't get discouraged when the forward momentum slows down, just keep studying.
So I'm studying folds on clothes. I've been reading Josh Reed's folds tutorials to understand how they work.
For now I'm focusing on the drawing part only (rendering will come later). I want to be able to represent correct volumes only with outlines but it looks kinda flat and unstructured, just random lines...
I need critics:
What can I improve?
What are your methods for representing folds?
Share pictures of artists that you like the style (related to the topic) if you have them.
Also if some of you want to try and reproduce the original image with their own style, you're welcome.
>>2656361
Pretty good, but there are some areas where you just threw some lines in without thinking about it. Be more direct and try to draw a 3d shape, don't just make it close enough, unless you're going for a specific style.
Also it's really hard to draw folds with only lines, especially materials like silk which have prominent shadows, highlights and ambient light. Practice with painting to get used to it.
you might want to play with pressure and line weight to communicate the kind of edges you're trying to describe, areas with buttoms overlay everything else, and folds close to it are more tight
also, you did some scratching at some points, if you do, you should follow the actual form instead of doing paralel straight lines (lazier and not troughtful approach)
Yet, all this if you don't want to do it skipping to paint or render values

me

I can only visualize parts of an image, or a very generalized framework. Everything else comes from both thumbnail and trial.
like 7 tops

STOP WORKING FROM IMAGINATION
your imagination is terrible, and that's fine. it's still better than mine by miles, but terrible nonetheless.
You are like me. Your strength is in your shortcomings in skills /ic/ values like visual libraries, imaginative work, and anatomy from memory.
You NEED to start doing work from life. Portraits, landscapes, still lifes. You are much stronger working traditionally than you are trying to force something that's simply not going to happen for you.
It's impressive that you make no progress regardless of how much imaginative work you do, but it's only impressive to you, because you know it is honestly and sincerely the best you can do.
And you and I are in good company because the other artist that had a terrible memory and imagination? Vincent van gogh.
van gogh had a terrible imagination and he was entirely dependent on having a reference to work from and abstract.
take this painting for example. it's terrible. that figure is honestly the best he could do from his head. He couldn't draw things in motion, he didn't have that kind of sensibility. all his portraits are very simple like the ones you've been doing. a face at an angle. no superfluous difficult things just simple paintings done well.

so please. for the love of god. get back to drawing from life. draw from life until you start to trust the voice in your head that tells you what things are supposed to look like.
our creativity is a very simple one and that's fine. we won't work making giant paintings of castles and dragons and spaceships but whatever we can play to our strengths and that's the very inability that prevents us from doing those complex pieces.
but you have to stop doing this kind of work. you'll just get more and more frustrated that people don't realize what makes them good because they can't relate. there's very few artists in the world like us, you just have to accept that.
i'll always be better than you though because i am even worse than you at this stuff. if you think YOU struggle with it you should see my imaginative work. everyone on /ic/ who's seen my creative work done from imagination can attest to that.
It's Shakespeare. What do you think of it?
Slightly weird?
It was something I did in high school. I used pages from magazines.
I've heard that Feng Zhu uses Intuos for his work instead of Cintiq, but I can't find a source. I think it would be interesting to hear about his thoughts on the pros and cons of each. Does anyone have a source for him preferring Intuos?

FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?
>The site is currently in the alpha phase of development and is being built around us as we compete so sometimes things go wrong. If you ever need any help send me a tweet @LavaFlake or shoot me an email [email protected].
What do we draw?
>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.
What's a low effort warning?
>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.
>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.
What happens if I'm eliminated?
>A new Last Artist Standing challenge starts every week. If you get eliminated then get it together and rejoin next week.
How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?
>This is a way to let new artists join in and to allow re-entry for the eliminated. Every week a new challenge is started. If you joined on week 1 and make it to week 2 then your daily submission counts for both the first and second Last Artist Standing. If you get eliminated then you're eliminated from both challenges and you'll be able to rejoin next week.
Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?
>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.
