I've got 3 of his artbooks. Although I love them, by now its just more of the same, right?
Also the pricing is getting a bit ridiculous.

Thanks for adding something valuable, faggot.
he wanted a guy tearing his own face off, any critiques?
ffs i would like to draw like this someday.
It looks more like he's peeling off the skin that's already falling/melting off on its own.
Looks gruesome/great though, nice.
>>2659446
yeah, its hard to avoid a kind of melted cheese look, harder to find a reference of a face getting pulled off this way.
So I've been drawing for a couple months now and decided to draw from imagination instead of refrences and thought it was easy until I realized creating the simple shapes was the easy part. Now I'm stuck at coloring and shading. Any clue how to color this or shade this? Not asking for free work just any tips or suggestions.
Also help general.
here's another color scheme i chose but I thought this one was shit compared to the other.
>>2659380
sorry ill post one with a lighter background
anyone else start feeling more and more ugly as they get better at drawing faces and figures?

Canadogo. So ruff
Thinking in general? What makes art academic? Should we allow freedom in art, freedom of expression?
The more I know about art, the movements surrounding the first half of 20th century, the more feeling I get Hitler was actually right, because most of the art created in 20th century is nothing but absolute utter trash?
So how do we identify art?
If art is any childish expression, it has no place in academics, if it has no place in academics, it cannot design culture, if it cannot design nature, it's useless.
Art cannot be anything and everything, art cannot be whatever audience decides it to be, or can it?
>>2657582
Have you actually read hitler's ideas on art? It's completely retarded white nationalist trash.

yes, more like this
>tfw I couldn't give any less fucks about traditional art (except pencil art, everything else sucks)
Seriously, I love making digital paintings and shit. I only do traditional art when practicing new things/theory and that's when I use pencil. I hate watercolors, acrylics, oils and the likes. However I'm very into making it. I want to be like those concept artists in gamind industry.
Seems like every serious school in my country focuses in traditional art. It's difficult to get accepted when I actually have next to no experience with anything else but pencils and digital art.
Am I fucked? I guess I have to become self taught artist if that's what it takes, but it's quite a rough path to take. I need a teacher's guidance.
>>2658215
>Seems like every serious school in my country focuses in traditional art.
really makes you think
Yeah its stupid that art schools focus solely on traditional art in some cases, but doing traditional will probably make you better at digital.
Find an art course that teaches both, don't shy away from one because you'll learn so much more about your chosen media by trying other foreign media.
>I hate watercolors
Congratulations, you're a faggot.
Hello, /ic/.
I've been learning Wapanese with the aid of Anki, which is basically a flashcard manager that knows when you should review stuff (Spaced Repetition Software).
I don't want to discuss the efficacy and shortcomings of the system, but rather its selling point: it actually makes me study, instead of procrastinating.
So I was wondering - can Anki be a useful tool for learning how to draw?
Has any of you ever attempted to use it in this manner?
I have checked the archive and found some sparse mentions of it, but not in detail.
I intend creating a deck I can rely on to keep me away from inertia, but am not totally sure of the details yet. Any input is welcome.

Read the sticky-icky.
Anki can't help you at all. Not a single bit. Maybe at best, 00.01%, but that's it. The rest is all with physical homework.
>>2651597
I used memrise to memorize muscle insertions as well as Jap. I really need to get back into learning the language but lazy dreads over me.

The cards wouldn't be quizzes, of course, but rather "homeworks" as you put it - draw an ear. Draw a large circle and go around it 10 times.
It could simply show a picture and the task would be to draw it, building a mental library through repetition.
Having a dozen hand positions, face positions, each one in a different card would already give me a solid set of tools to draw from memory when needed.
Pic related's hand, for instance, is pretty useful to have memorized.
Of course it doesn't substitute actual reading/understanding of rules, but it looks like a good way to keep the concepts fresh and indicate when it's time to reread that Loomis chapter about butts.
took a good hard look at my own life and what i let it become (graduated 2015, been year since, nothing but NEET shit the whole time).
Things I managed to accomplish
>half of a semester of premed classes at an extension program
>got my driver license after 4 failed behind the wheel attempts and 3 failed written attempts
>somehow kept working out and managed to avoid fatness, metabolism also helped but its on its last legs now
>bought a wacom tablet and a powerful desktop pc with parents money, they are also paying for adobe creative cloud subscription
Anyways, so there I was, wallowing as usual, and I read an article about how we twentysomethings aren't aware of how this is the most important period in our life and how pretty much at 30, we are locked in. This scared the shit out of me and forced me to really think about the things I was doing to set my 30 year old self up. Dabbling and switching from what I majored in, architecture, ideas of medical school, completely weird things like computer science or welding at the local trade school.. enough. It was really time to start prepping for the time of judgment in 7 years. I thought about what picture I'd like to see, what kind of person I'd like to become by then, and I realized the only thing that would matter the most is being a part of the animation process. With the accumulated skill I could try dabbling in related mediums like comics, paintings - things that still interested me, but I knew I had to focus in on something, and that left me at animation.
I've posted here before. I've uploaded random doodles and tried participating in LAS, even unmotivated losers a couple years back. I'm glad I did, you guys are great, even with your flaws. I live in Los Angeles so I'm sure I can find an internship somewhere and start wedging myself deeper into the industry from there.
I started this post to ask for help but I think I just wanted to tell you guys like a child running to their parents excitedly.
tl;dr thanks
you can do it, anon

>parents paying for adobe creative cloud subscription
>not just pirating or using CS2, which is free
Is it something you care about, /ic/? Is it something you try to keep in mind with every completed image or just keep to images being sold/gifted? Applies to artists who use traditional medium for the most part
>>2658375
Not really, but I also tend to buy good quality paint so the problem mostly solves itself. Paints like Alizarin Crimson are outclassed by more useful and more lightfast alternatives either way, like the PV19 Quinacridone Rose/Red/Magenta.
On the other hand I also sketch with fountain pen ink and Ecoline, which are dye-based and not lightfast at all, and do all my charcoal drawings in newsprint. I'd obviously care about it if I was selling work or putting it up somewhere, but for personal stuff that's likely never going to be seen again I don't feel like it's worth worrying about. I want to keep getting better and better with time, so there's no reason for being too precious with sketches and studies.
I don't care because I don't sell or display any of my work.
I color my work with Dr Ph Martins dyes and Copic markers, neither of which are lightfast. Since everything I draw is scanned and spends the rest of its life in a portfolio lightfastness doesn't matter.
Usually artist quallity series differs from the cheaper studio series by having better and more pigment.
Usually the lightfastness is written on the tube or pan.
If you worry about the durability of your colours you can paint them on a piece of paper. then cut the paper on the middle so you have two identical charts. One you put in your window for sun exposure, the other in an envelope. Then after a year you can compare the two.
Artificial light have less wavelenghts than sunlight and that can be why some colours fade or change in the scanner.
Just made this, I think it would be a cool tattoo. I've never posted on this board and was wondering what you guy think of it.

I'm struggling with finding a way to tell you that this sucks dick without demotivating you in the process.
Just.. learn to draw, man. Get good at something you like, you might accidentally come up with a cool design but as long as you don't have a skill you can rely on, you don't have a lot of potential with your hobby, no matter what it is.
>>2659157
This sucks dick.
You suck dick.
Will being good at drawing help at putting on makeup? I mean, putting on eyeliner is similar to drawing the eyeliner bit when drawing an eye lol
anyone know how make the picture move like this? and what program is good for this.
