Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (also images shouldn't come out accidentally sideways with this method)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new sticky in town! You can see it at:

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Post your current drawing here and give constructive critique to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, DOWNSIZED TO AROUND 1000 PIXELS WIDE, ROTATED TO THE CORRECT ORIENTATION, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one and then hug a kitten for good luck.

Yeah, it's an ad for a double splash page. It's example illustrastion, but it's mostly an excuse for me to draw dinosaurs. A design company asked for more "product like examples" so that's what i'm doing.
captcha was a bunch of industrial machines..
trying to emulate Bjorn Hurri's 30 minute warmups, what should I be working on?
wip
im trying a different way of painting. is this working?
FUCK YEAH
/ic/, i think i found a way to get the cushart-styled color feel
>grab a finished piece
>copy the layer
>add that spectrum gradient map
>merge with copy
>set the mode on subract
>set the opacity on 20 percent
there you fuckin go
(dont forget the subsurface scattering)
Chink artists always use photoshop filters to get their "look"
just learn the fundies desu
>>2640359
i agree, but we should admit that cushart is still very skilled...
>>2640360
I agree, but here's how Cushart gets his colors
literally just fucking around with photoshop
WTF /ic/
>buy painting from inmate decades ago for $100
>friend comes over, sees signature
>tells me the artist is famous now
>work with gallery to sell the work for 10 million
>artist blocks sale, says it's not his work
>uh yes you did faggot artist
>sue that motherfucker for millions
Did I do the right thing?

an artist literally had to go to court and provide evidence that he DID NOT paint this shitty painting
So i bought this from a local shady store cause it seems not totally bad, can anyone translate what it says? or the name of the painter

Something something pleasure of cum inside?
senior in high school, just made up my portfolio, but I now realize I may want to go into sculpting. Am I fucked? How advanced of a sculpture do they even look for?
Just submit your portfolio and take some sculpting classes you're freshman year. You can always switch.
Unless your portfolio gets you a really nice scholarship you shouldn't be going until it does anyway, so you might as well start working on your sculpture portfolio now.
Also, post your portfolio and what school you're planning on applying to
You could draw this logo?

Sure, for $30
Is shape language something you accrue over time, or are there specific studies you can do to help speed up your knowledge of shapes?
>>2655896
both
>>2655896
Collect your reference in a smart way and do multiple studies of one subject. Break down the shapes (simplify) and try to workout the underlying proportions that makes it look a certain way. Tracing can be very helpful for this if supplemented with observation drawing.
For instance; I've studied the way a particular artist draws faces by making a sheet with just copy pasted heads from his works. I copy the heads from observation first as close as possible to the original. Then I do a shape analysis similar to the Bargue layin method. A blocky simplified version that I fill a page with. I gradually start looking less and less at the reference and eventually attempt to draw completely from memory. When I feel reasonably comfortable with drawing the layin from imagination I start adding the final shapes again in a process of looking at the reference first and the gradually moving away from it. I force myself to deconstruct every shape mentally before looking at the ref for answers and compare it with my attempt. Every study goes through multiple iterations this way and is way superior to just doing a single copy in my experience.
hey /ic/ i picked up this painting at an estate sale for like $10 and guy who died was a big hoarder and had loads of random stuff. I looked closely at the label on the back and it says it was originally priced at $100, so i wanna see if its worth anything or if theres any information about the artist. i cant make out the name of the artist, but all i know is that its called "Love Yourself" and its from 1997, i'll post more photos of the signature on the back and closeups of thelabel in the thread
this is the back
heres a closeup of the signature and the date
label's faded pretty bad so i put a shit filter on the label to make it easier to see, i'll post an unedited version as well
I drew a pretty picture for my Mommy.
HEY I'M GRUMP
>>2656357
I'M ALSO GRUMP
Anyone here keep up a non-art job in the working world/study in uni? I'm talking shit like finance, tech, that sort of thing.
How much practice do you get to do each day? Is juggling a real job and getting good (like feng zhu, maybe turned down a few notches) a path to suicide?
>>2655551
Yes, uni.
Like 2-3 hours. 5 at best. Although this is if I want to sleep, since I don't want to fall asleep in class.
Not necessarily. Many people do it since they know that they'll need money, but some people can't handle the stress. It's different for everyone.
I work design and 3d in an architectural firm, I get lots of free time
>>2655551
I used to do full time until, and it was awful, most I could get was 2 hours on average. If you want to become a professional I think you need to dedicate yourself to it because no matter how hard you try I think having that safety net to fall back on will always slow you down. Save money, live like a monk & get out of there if you want to be a professional, I know for me ever since then my mental health has been better, I've been taking art more seriously & been getting more commissions than I did before and I'm happy with that, even if I have to make do with less money.
