I prayed to the God of art
and did produce the most beautiful thing
but aye aye aye my beauty left you with no touch
...Then in my death,
Spite and Misery sahll be my friends

It's an alright painting.
But you need to paint bigger if you'd like greater success. There's not enough room for experimentation and to accommodate for the size of your brush strokes.

>I prayed to the God of art
maybe you should have spent that time practicing
>24 years old
>want to learn how to draw
>everyone on /ic/ says that it's impossible to learn after age 25
>my birthday less than a month away
Is there any hope or am I simply too late?
No, there isn't. /ic/ is always right and you should have already killed yourself. Also read Loomis.
>>2652404
There's a way OP.
DO NOT fall asleep on your birthday. You brain will technically be 24 yo UNTIL you get sleep. Grind as much as you can, ask your loved ones to keep an eye on you and grind like you'll never be able to learn again(you won't). Learn as much as you can because after falling asleep everything you'll ever have again is all you learned. Good luck.

You have options:
1. If you are Jewish this doesn't effect you until old age.
2. If you aren't Jewish go to the infowars store and buy some brain force. If you take this stuff often WHILE you are still 24 it should prolong your 24 year old brain for at least a couple more months. The good thing about brain force is that it should slow down the plasticity deterioration.
3. Find a mentor to teach you all the right things quickly.
4. Study really hard at age 25 like no man has studied before.
If you didn't pull in all that you got at you're age 26 it's definitely too late.
Where do you find inspiration to dress or armor characters?
I want to make a females warrior, I sketched the body, but I don't know how to dress her.
I couldn't rely on existing drawings /reference but I end relying too much on them.
I rely too much on references/existing work, even for gestures and anatomy.
>>2652318
>from work of art to absolute shit
they should've just stick to the inking phase
>>2652318
damn, the light work on that pic is really good
>>2652318
Inspiration comes from everything really man. It's your visual library. It's almost impossible to say, but I usually think of easy adjectives like cool, cute, etc. Then just fit to that theme. It's more a feeling thing to me more so than an actual mechanical thinking.
Hey guys, I know it's not really the place for that kind of stuff. I was planning to go this year but I have to concentrate on my job, I'm selling a ticket if someone here is interested. Turning this thread in a THU thread so I don't feel like "promoting" or else.
Last year was super interesting with lots of good artists but this year looks weak, the speakers are mostly vfx/sci-fi/photobash artists and it's not at all my interest.

Claire Wendling, Karla Ortiz, Sparth, Ruan Jia. It doesn't look so bad, anon. I'd go if I wasn't cheap and socially retarded, and if it was taking place in my back yard.
>>2652655
>Claire Wendling
She just draws and doesn't really do finished paintings or anything. She also is not very good at explaining technical things and relies on intuition and experience when she draws. You won't learn much.
>Karla Ortiz
Basically does a very slow demo where she has a ref on the side and copies it. Again you won't learn a ton.
>Sparth
Never seen him demo, it might be good. He knows his stuff.
>Ruan Jia
Last I heard his English wasn't good. You will learn as much as watching any of the numerous videos already online of him painting.
>>2652655
I already met Karla Ortiz, she's amazing but I'm mostly looking for artists in animation and this year it's mostly VFX artist, I feel like I will be bored very easily and it wouldn't worth 700 euros...

Pretty sure calligraphy threads usually die quickly on either board, unfortunately.
Anyway, http://theflourishforum.com/forum/ has some helpful threads.
http://www.kallipos.de/kalligraphie-alphabete.htm has some free alphabets.
I really like this software, but I can't help feeling like I'm not using it to its full potential. (I mostly use default brushes/settings for everything)

How do you get that smooth effect ?
You don't see the "mark" of whatever the artist used.
The halftones are very soft.
Did he used pencil ? What material did he used ?
Same thing for the background, how do you do that ?
>>2652001

No. Never
You're scamming that poor woman
I would pay maybe 10$ for the canvas so I can paint over it with something good.
are these honest replies or just trolls
Can any anons currently attending Calarts tell me if its worth it to even go there at this point
naw. just go find a life drawing studio. teach yourself, practice everyday. You can be as good as any other graduate.
>>2651444
Its worth going if you plan on working in the industry since Calarts kids help all their talentless friends they graduated with get jobs at all these studios and companies.

I've been trying to understand wrinkles for a while now, and whilst Hogarth has been a bit helpful, I find him a bit difficult to follow. What are other useful resources for drawing drapery and wrinkles?
