Only art nerds like us really care about the technical quality of an illustration. Most people literally can't tell whether something is good or shit.

There is a ton of nsfw art that is crudely drawn but still manages to have some fap appeal. I can appreciate that. But this... Just has zero appeal or redeeming qualities. It's some of the worst erotic art I've ever seen and I've seen a lot. This is garbage even by the lowest of standards. It likely wouldn't even be a accepted submission to HF, and that's saying quite a bit.
I guess it must be the compelling storyline then.

You can get pretty good at gesture without knowing much anatomy, but you can never get great at it without a solid foundation of anatomy.

Many teachers treat gestures as a beginner exercise or simply a warmup and I think this is a mistake. Doing lots of gestures without knowing anatomy can build bad habits and is not an effective way to learn in my opinion.

So yes, sit down and learn your anatomy. Copy out all the plates from a couple different anatomy books, cross referencing the information. After each plate, redraw it from memory and check where you went wrong to ensure you are actually learning the information. Once you have done all that you can return to gesture drawing.

I felt some serious second hand embarrassment from watching this.

well it's a wide enough image where you'd want to go with a 2 point perspective. as of now the image is pretty boring in the foreground and the shape of the mountains only draws my attention onto the sun, cause it's kinda of circled in.

gesture drawing is an american meme
in my country we just do short poses and everybody isn't obsessing over something they can't even define

Gesture is you (the artist) pointing (via lines) to the viewer "look here, now here, ok, now move your eye over there, ..." It's the flow throughout the artpiece, a (virtual) highlighter used to mark the interesting parts.
