I'll be without any form of solid reference for a couple of days, so I was curious if people had any suggestions for what I could practice for that period of time.
Draw from life. Good choice in pencil btw.
From imagination.

>I'll be without any form of solid reference for a couple of days
Are you going blind for a few days? You always have reference around you. You can draw still lifes, people in coffee shops, buildings around you, your hands, if you have a self portrait then a mirror, you can draw trees outside.
I'm hoping to get an art-heavy project rolling soon. I've become confident that the only way I'll be able to get this done in a reasonable time frame is to hire a superior artist and relegate myself to the position of a client and 'art director' rather than handling the art alone. There is simply too much currently outside of my repertoire to do this, and I don't want to sit around with my hand down my pants idly playing with my dingy for much longer.
I manage a small store for a meager wage, and I couldn't possibly afford to pay anyone full-time, but as an artist myself I know that if you're at any respectable level you busted your ass to get there. So tell me your rates and give me examples of your work-just understand that depending on what those rates are I might not have work for you as often as I'd like-or might have to decline.
what I'm looking for:
>Character artist and designer with an animation-friendly weeaboo/cartoon/pinup style and strong understanding of artistic fundamentals
>Willing and able to run a private stream while you work for me to observe your process
>At least some semblance of professionalism (if you have or purport to have some kind of debilitating mental illness or physical condition that's going to keep you from fulfilling a basic drawing request for weeks on end let me know ahead of time so I can ignore you nigga)
>English fluency (or close to it)
/ic/ isn't going to be the last place I look, but I've been here enough to where I figured it'd be the first. If you have anyone you know that might be interested, or knows other good places to look I'd appreciate it. Send five of your favorite illustrations you've made to [email protected]; if I don't get back to you within two weeks, don't be offended.
I'll also answer basic questions in this thread too of course. Thanks in advance.

hahawut?
So OP, I understand that you have no budget? Why would anyone want to contact you?
You have solid requirements, but you are in no position to have them. Better get good at earning money before you jump into ambitious projects that require fuckload of it.
Bullshit people have said to you thread.
Clients who wouldn't pay, crap teachers, parents who cried when you told them you wanted to be an artist, friends who wanted free stuff, share your stories.
>Lady commissioned me
>Wanted an oil painting of her cat and grandson
>Told her it's be $450
>"WOULD YOU CHARGE YOUR MOTHER THAT AMOUNT?! THATS RIDICULOUS YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF!
>Politely respond that I'd charge anyone that amount because this is my business.
>"IT'S NOT A BUSINESS, ART IS ABOUT KINDNESS AND EXPRESSION YOU'RE NOT A REAL ARTIST IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT!"

>back in highschool
> draw a lot, be known as the school art kid
> friends with other art kids who mostly drew anime
> friends all depressed and fucked up (me too at the time)
> a couple friends always got really upset when they saw my art
> would make comments about wanting to kill themselves cause I could draw better
> they would legit get fucking depressed and destroy their own drawings
> felt bad, stopped showing art to most people
Not a huge thing but honestly that kind of shit infuriates me. Wish I was less passive and told them to fuck off at the time.
>be art kid way back when
>ugly as sin
>no friends, didn't speak unless spoken to.
<the only way I talked to people was by drawing in public
>Art class is the only thing I liked about school
>go to art class
>"oh maybe I'll make some art friends should be great"
>Draw some shit
>Every art kid becomes super fucking depressed.
>"oh ok"
>flunk EVERY fucking art class so strangers don't feel so bad.
>befriend slacker/fuck-up kids instead.
>feelsgoodman.jpg
>go to science
>"we have a new student"
>petite /jp/ tier weeb
>"oh she's kinda adorable"
>chooses to sit alone
>get up to sharpen my pencil/ check her out
>WHAT IS THAT
>WHAT IS SHE DOING
>she's quietly sketching yaoi bullshit
>it's decent by public school standards
>I walk back to my table with, the fuck-up kids.
>"dude you should ask her out."
>fuuuuuckthat.jpg
>class is over
>I talk to her
>she's actually really cool. All her WoW characters are level 60
>we talk about art shit
>one of my friends walk up to her
>"anon's good at drawing too! Look at this"
>some lined notebook paper sketch of Battle Angel Alita I had drawn 100 times before.
>"o-oh.. t-that's really c-cool.."
>She's instantly dead inside.
>never talks to me again
>I never draw in public again
true story
>>2731266
Same shit would happen to me. Did this at 15.
A lot of people who see my drawings sometimes do this bullshit where they demand I draw a tattoo for them, then there are kids that go out of there way to tell me I need to start doing tattoos. Meanwhile whats going on through my head is "stfu I want to direct films based off of illustrated storyboards that I've made". But its like forbidden to talk about taking on something like where I am so I keep silent.
Because there's no reason to keep cluttering up the Beginner Threads with our shit.
I have nothing to show because I have been working and not practicing because I am stupid ;_;
No the OP of the last thread btw

Why would you create such a train path? Just put it on the ground.
>>2696357
Trains are terrible with slopes, they can't go up very well since they're so heavy. That's why they blast holes through mountains for them instead of going up and down.
where is the line between /abeg/, /beg/, and the drawthread?
Glenn says, you need to be able to see 2D shapes, so you can translate from life to a flat piece of paper, but meanwhile think 3 dimensionaly. Wut? Can someone explain how the hell should one do that?
>>2734640
I wanted to explain but then realised that I don't get it either and got carried away.
There's nothing to explain. You need to be able to translate 3D objects into 2D shapes in your mind and vice versa.
>>2734640
It means draw what you see, to concentrate on shapes over symbols, while keeping in mind that everything is relative to one another in terms of space.
This isn't rocket science.
Does digital painting skill translate to traditional painting? I want to start doing canvas paintings but I don't want to have to start over learning everything. Can I learn painting and mixing pretty quick if I have all the fundamentals and skill in the digital medium?
>>2734028
>Does digital painting skill translate to traditional painting
To some degree, yes. The same base knowledge is there, but you do need to learn a new medium and thus new ways a new process. It doesn't translate as well as a traditional artist switching to digital though, and it depends too how you work when you paint digitally.
>>2734028
no undo, you have to plan ahead, plan layers of paint, let them dry etc. id stay with ps
>>2734030
Thanks for not giving joke answer or being patronizing. I appreciate it, God bless.
So, I just found out that Peter Han did a kickstarter to publish his Dynamic Sketching course (CGMA) in book form! Not had a proper look, but it looks pretty fuckin' good, and I know a lot of people here like his courses.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/444273000/dynamic-bible-by-peter-han
It's available as a PDF, so you can find that online. :)
>>2733797
I love his work, but the book sucks ass.
>>2733803
How come?
>>2733819
The other guy here, but it just sucks. Check out art book thread, I got it from there.
Hey! I was wondering if there are any kind souls out there who could design a tattoo for my left Bicep/triceps (upper arm in general) I really want to get one to cover some gross scars. Thank you for reading! :) I'm particularly interested in Pokemon or World of Warcraft, my favorite Pokemon is Gengar. <3
>>2733220
If you get a Pokemon tattoo you'll never get laid
I'm not worried about that. :) Sex is over rated.
>>2733220
If this aint bait then I advise speaking to whoever is going to be doing the tattoo. Any tattooist worth their salt should be able to design it and many prefer to do it that way.
This is an amazing piece that displays the struggle of emotions. It is now up for sale. It is being sold right here to the highest bidder.

Hi /ic/, digital artist here. What is the best way to get your printings have the same colours as in the screen? I've been told is nearly impossible, but other artists seem able to do It.
>>2734570
you can't, you're just going to have to do print tests until your prints look how you want them to.
>>2734570
Generally if you intend to print then you angle your work to be printer friendly.
>>2734570
Proper color management and a properly calibrated monitor. Easier if you're doing the printing yourself since most digital print shops are absolute garbage.
At /IC/, I've been drawing for about a year now and just broken out of that side profile and stylized habit and are attempting to learn
I'll put some of my stuff below, from sketches to Fanart. Critique and possible link good reference resources and studies?
I haven't done much
Used to draw weekly but recently this week I switched to daily
Are anime eyes 2 dimensional?
>>2734449
Yea

It takes a one dimensional artist to do them.
