Anyone know where I can print custom poster size pictures of my images? I'd like to hang a couple of my pieces and frame them, I don't want to buy a printer just for 5 posters.

Like anything, practice. Take note of where you're being inconsistent and make a conscious effort to fix it.

My cousin once had real bad grades in school back in the day, so his mom took all of his entertainment and just gave him a calligraphy book so he could entertain himself. Over the course of the year (June through December if i recall) he would come home and try different styles because it was the only way he could stop himself from dying of boredom. I don't have any examples of his work, but man he got good at it

I don't know what to draw.

Let me make this clear. I'm aiming to become a character designer/concept artist preferably in the entertainment design field. I have no clue what to draw right now in order to build up to that. When I say that, I don't mean value studies and anatomy, or technical stuff I can learn on a dime. I mean I have no whim or drive for creating things my way. Does anyone understand? I feel like I can draw to an extent, but I feel directionless when drawing anything originally. I usually draw when people give me a theme or topic. I can think of ideas then, like the composition, values, and where to place what and how. However, I want to build up my own structure and know what to draw at any extent. Characters, for example, is a big blank for me.

Tl;dr, I don't have any inspiration or direction in creating characters and concepts. This is due to my childhood retardation and my negligence to read books or watch films. Is there any place to know how to go about my own way?

Has this exact thread happened before? Straight down to the picture.

Go through blogs for random material and save up reference folders. Military, fashion (high, street, nil), tourism, animal kingdom, space, geological, archaeological, religious, whatever. Draw from reference. You'll find stuff you really like sooner or later.

I never knew I'd like coconut crabs and bishop outfits so much until I spent a day drawing them. That kinda stuff, increase your visual library like crazy and you'll never want for ideas.

Relax, trust me when I say very few people on this board have life experience. Me included. You'll make it - we live in the age of information, everyone has done the legwork for you these days.

How difficult is it to get hired as an artist at a place like say, Dreamworks TV?

Just how good do you need to be to make it, and is it a realistic goal?

Did you complete our goal of becoming an animator in Japan or being a freelance artist?....

Did you at least get one of your pics featured on the front page of danbooru?

You are now good enough to draw and upload stylized anime girls, and you're still not only spending all your time copying Loomis, right?

Da Vinci - Annunciation.jpg
231KB, 1280x585px
Post your favorite compositions in paintings and drawings, maybe explain why.

The Annunciation was a combination of Da Vinci's work (the angel and parts of the background) and his master Verrocchio's work. Verrocchio painted in heavy strokes with lead based paint; Da Vinci painted with lighter strokes using paint that did not contain lead. Consequentially, when the painting is x-rayed Da Vinci's angel disappears. The coincidence of the building edge and tree nicely points to the hand of Mary and the altar. The background is constructed with amazing subtle complexity (look at the trees, ship, and town). We get a view of the exterior and interior environments, the sky, water, and many different material types. The tension of the gaze meets in the middle of the page and encourages the viewer to explore the background. The 3 purple flowers on the tail of the angel's robe also contribute a subtle balance, but I could go on forever.

Looking to looking to create textured grounds like city walls like with posters and things but I have no idea how to get the texture underneath, any suggestions will be helpful
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2736567
For what application? In which medium? If you want to write graffiti that doesn't look horseshit, that's years upon years in itself. Posters and things are just little drawings inside of drawings and you'll either need to bite a style or be able to design a poster already. Walls are hard, urban environments especially because they're years of shit built up over time. Start like any other drawing and go from low detail to high and you've got a better chance of slogging through all the fine details that make a alley look foreboding.

Please don't write toy ass graffiti in an otherwise good piece of art. Just have urban decay.
>>
Nah it's for my coursework, I need to create textures somehow and need it to be roughed up
