i made a character last night, and i don't know what kind of head shape i should use send help
this character is supposed to be sassy, and just plain out mad at everyone

It's 2017 there is nothing wrong about being gay you asshole. Is everyone on here like this?
>>2864079
gay people are trashy degenerates. fuck them.
they are sub-human dirty scum bags.
So I've been working on strictly loomis, proko, hampton and zarins for the last 7 months. About once every few days for about half an hour I'll try to apply these teachings to anime and none of it works when applying it to the head. The bodies are just simple modifications.
I've tried going as basic as possible, using loomis, but I can't even get that to work consistently. Anime heads are so alien and bizarre, and they differ based on artist. In fact, I can tell some amateur artists on pixiv don't even know proper construction techniques based on their nose positioning making absolutely no sense.
What's the secret?
>>2865271
Post your work so we can see what you're getting wrong or getting right.

Drawing style is antiquated but it breaks down anime heads into basic subcategories. Don't copy the drawings since the stylization is old, but the information and processes are good. Apply the information to studying images made my current artists you like.

The secret is to know whether or not you're drawing a cute round girl's face or a tough bulky man's face.
Whats ic's opinion on Kienan Lafferty, and his yt channel.
Pic related
better at drawing from imagination than Proko

Appealing style, but the 96548651 layers hurt my eyes.

Typical ugly LoL art
A lifetime of computers has completely fucked my handwriting, but I want to draw.
Should I improve my handwriting first?
>>2859408
That's like asking if you should learn how to drive a jet before driving a car.
lol people give me shit all the time for being able to draw but having shit handwriting. the two aren't as heavily correlated as people think. i know a lot of artists who have bad handwriting too, we aren't fucking calligraphers.
tldr youll be fine just draw
>>2859408
You don't need to learn how to write properly just to draw. I know people that are great at calligraphy but absolute garbage at drawing, and vice versa.
>starting to not draw as much as i used to
>can barely manage two figures before i get bored
>try to draw my own thing but i can't stop pointing out my own mistakes, and stop doing that
HOW DO I BREAK THE CYCLE. How do I get my love for creating/studying art back? I want to git gud.
>>2868319
You just gotta stop being such a bitch, essentially. There's no real directions other people can give you on this, if you can't sit down and actually draw something you're literally never gonna make it
>>2868319
To put it directly, don't expect some thread on 4Chan to answer your questions. Just draw, dude, pick up your goddamn who-knows-what-you-draw-with and draw. If you don't enjoy it then stop. Drawing isn't for everyone either, maybe you're trying to say something to yourself if you get bored so fast.

griffithsssu!!
suck it up. put on some headphones, listen to the some music, and just keep working. forget the voice in your head that is making you feel shitty for trying. just keep trying, what else are you gonna spend your time on anyway?
Here's a hair tutorial to start

>>2868235
Don't really see how this is a 'bad tutorial', the title says that its for beginners and it covers some basic still like forming hair around the head and thinking of it as clumps instead of 1 big shape

Is a Cintiq 13'' large enough for digital art ? Should I buy one right now or save money for a 22'' ?
I'm comfortable at painting with a regular tablet, but line drawing is hell. My lines are just horrible, I can't control them. So, that's the main reason I consider buying a Cintiq.
If you cant get nice lines on a normal tablet you wont with a cintiq. Enable the line smoother instead
>>2866515
a cintiq will make you be able to control your lines only up by 5%
meaning it'll make no difference
>>2866526
thanks for the advice ! where is this line smoother ? In brush options ?
Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrreference thread.
Post cool-ass references, and your drawings of references in this thread. I'm gonna dump a few.
>>2850682
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uwaXKU7ev6Tw_or__o8ARpUb6r2rCZYJGqwSFV9AD98/edit#bookmark=id.15jx3pyuimvj
>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.
OLD THREAD: >>2862552
How good are these figures? Are the figma archetype better? Or are they even worth the money? Or should i just save my money and buy an anatomy book
oh and if you have something you use as reference, post it!
>>2866757
I have the figma Tabletop Museum David.
It's really pretty and fun but not incredibly useful, study a skeleton to learn how long limbs are and go to life drawing classes. Seriously, find something life-size like a museum full of sculpture, not a little dude, even if you can't go to classes - I find it pushes my anatomy and understanding of proportion much better than drawing my David.
>>2866997
This. I own a pair of figma archetype next and rarely use them but for referencing complex perspective shots. They're not very useful for general practice.
How useful are these plane sculptures?
CGpeers is down. Anybody got news about it ?
It happens pretty regularyly. It'll be up soon again.

Think they'll remove free leech?
How to avoid getting that error when you try signing up? Been getting it last two sign up dates
So i've been working on visual effects lately and i'm trying to make it look so good as I possibly can but I'm in need of some honest feedback from other people as well! I think it looks okay but I want to know exactly what there is I can do better! i'd love to hear all your thoughts, Thanks!

I go through cycles where I'll draw for 6-8 hrs a day for a month, then drop down to 1-2hrs and then just ultimately stop for a few months. I keep saying I'll eventually maintain 8hrs a day consistently but I always end up focusing elsewhere(lifting, reading, work, etc)
Is balance truly the key? If I set a lower number(let's say 3-4 hrs a day) and do that every day will I actually see any improvement? It just seems like that's basically no time and I can't imagine such few hours would get me anywhere.
To anyone who practices daily: do you keep a good balance in your life? Or would 8+hrs a day be much better even though it has very little balance??
Also meant to add that I take adderall to get my work done usually 4-5 days a week. I worry that being on adderall while I practice art will screw up my learning so I try to avoid practicing during those days... I prefer to not take it at all, but whenever I get boatloads of work I get back into taking it and I just hate practicing art while amped up.
Could this be a problem while learning? Anyone here take adderall/amps while studying and still able to retain the information?
Do you have a job?
>>2867877
Yes I work contract and it's all digital so I set my own hours. But the catch22 is the more hours I work the more money I make, and sometimes I land big jobs where I just blow off everything and work all day long for weeks.
I think balance would be key but I just can't imagine that 4-5hrs a day drawing is really going to make a dent in my ability. My mindset is very "all or nothing" and I can't really tell if it's right or not(FZD work implies some truth to it)
Hey guys, I lurked on here for a bit and decided to have a go at drawing. Opinions on how I can improve? and general tips
>>2868049
You clearly haven't because you didn't post this in the beginner thread, idiot
>>2868049
Keep drawing, read keys to drawing, the sticky is your only friend on this board.
I dig the ref pic though, where did you find it?
I didn't majored in Animation or similar stuff (I'm a software engineering), but I'm extremely interested in working in the animation field. In fact I think I should have studied it.
Options are:
-Major on it (3 more years. I'm 22)
-Get a fuck ton of certificates or courses
What can I do?
Stop thinking like a retarded student and just git gud. This ain't no god damn get papers shit, this is fucking actual skill. Just work at animating if you want to make it. If that means taking classes by majoring then so be it.
>>2867872
Would you suggest a full new 3years major of it? Or with courses can I get it?
And of course, it's all about skill, but I do wish to get inside the atmosphere (people, events, etc.)
A software engeneer will be very useful to develope better animation programs
Large studios even have in house software
