How long would it take to start drawing like this from a complete beginner if you actively work every day? 5 years?
>>2855297
3 years has been proven the average time it takes to get to this level.
>>2855298
Is this a troll comment or does someone have a study/evidence to back this up?
>>2855302
It's what I've seen over the years of looking at other people's progress that this holds true.
Need some advice.
Someone on dA wants me to do a request. I never did, my account is still pretty small (I only have ten watchers).
Should he pay me for my work or not? Should I do it for free, since I was never asked for a request and for not being a big name?
If you don't currently have a steady stream of commissions and don't mind doing the request, you should do it to help bring more people your way. Requests are a popular way for small artists to gain watchers.
If you don't care about eatchers or don't want to spend time on someone else, either charge or don't do it.
What can you expect from drawing 1 hour a day. I don't want to be a professional, but rather get confident in drawing from real life.
>>2860361
Just draw, nobody can tell you what to expect from some set amount of time because everyone practices different things and improves at different speeds. Also this probably could have gone in the questions thread, not its own
>>2860361
if you enjoy drawing, just draw whenever you can/ feel like it. And try to improve while you are at it.
If you have to set such a low amount of hours per day in hopes of improving, just give up already, you dont have what it takes
wondering how good you are going to be if you draw a certain amount of hours per day is a fucking dumb question.
>>2860361
>tfw you will never work in a studio with people like these while sharing amazing ideas and sketches
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Do you use liquin when you paint with oils?
Is there a better alternative?
Do these sorts of substances affect how the painting will look years after it is painted? I've heard heard some mediums can develop a yellow tint over time.
I don't like the glossy finish. I use linseed oil, or lately walnut oil.
i have only paibted with oils once and i was wondering do you have to use the varnish always? i know it is only used after oils are completely dry. i kinda don't like the glossy effect it gives to painting, but my friend gave it to me and told me to apply it because it will preserve the painting longer. is it true? how do you guys use it?
I use gamblin's solvent free medium, mostly because I can't handle strong smells of other mediums, it also dries pretty fast. I've found that gamblin's stuff is almost odorless so I like it.
Hi anons, what do you do/watch to improve your skill and learn some stuff ?
I started daily drawing series and it's pretty usefull imo.
Do you have more youtube channel or website like this ?

you could check out ctrl paint. proko, loomis, vilppu (he is at nma) , various photographs, looking around when you are outside in the real world, mentally noting things, or sketching them.

>Picture not related.
pic is always related
I'm in love with this guy lately, mainly his dead still lifes. The toppling piles of animal corpses, gutted and thrown haphazardly. It's not so much the subject of them, but how psychological I find them. I really get some sort of psychological feeling from them, kind of how a mind feels when dealing with stress and anxiety, a pile of excess thoughts that just keeps stacking higher. I love it, and I really want to incorporate this approach of death in my work.
Am I fucked up, d/ic/ks?
No, it's called being an artist.
>>2861421
You could also be a taxidermist.
>>2861461
That's funny because I am quite interested in taxidermy, and it has nothing to do with my name. I just like dead animals in general, sometimes I feel dead things say more than living things (in terms of having them in an artwork).

What did you mean by this
I need some help, /ic/. I'm working on a female character and I want to get the figure right. I want the hips to be wideset, and for the actual body to be kinda skinny and lithe. Do you guys have any references for this? Pic related is kinda the figure I'm going for, but I wanted some real life references so I don't end up with fucked anatomy.
hope you learned to stylize at some point bruv
>>2858409
>those hips
ruins the whole image
I'm completely new to art, but the time and dedication required is really making me avoid it (it's like this for pretty much any new "thing" I want to do). I want to get into art because I have so many ideas that I'd like to turn into a picture, but most of the time I'd rather lay on my bed and do nothing.
Seeing the cute girls being drawn
>>2856753
shit posting helps me.
>>2856755
Honestly one of the main things I'd like to draw is cute girls because it'll keep me company/
How does it feel to learn drawing when you enjoy drawing? Do you enjoy doing exercises that others find tedious? Like drawing 100 boxes in perspective or drawing a car in perspective with over 100 guides?
Like learning.
Sometimes.
Sometimes.
Tedious exercises are always tedious. . . If a person were to be doing the exercises and it wasn't tedious, they are either doing them incorrectly or shouldn't be doing them.
It becomes more fun when you notice results. Maybe if, when drawing those boxes you begin drawing at a different angle which makes them line up better. Stuff like that helps, but just mindlessly doing exercises is mostly just draining.
Hello, I'm getting a tattoo design(hate me if u want haha), but i've been going over the design lately and I want to make it more unique than the uniqueness i've made to it, but i'm not a great artist.
I have 15$ in Paypal(USD) or 21.60$ on steam wallet that I will send you if you can draw this design for me.
I will link my discord below so you can keep contact in-case the thread 404s.

I want the "Jesus" on the cross to be more like, in a tattered robe and skeleton like, than like Jesus.
I don't care about the very fine details of his hands or hair/crown or the scythe on the grim reaper, Just the basics of his body with a tattered robe ya know.
Make sure you leave your paypal or steam game you want with your steam ID in your picture post, or if you msg me on discord be sure to link me it.
